Prologue

The night was peaceful; all of the humans on earth were comfy in their beds and in dream land. In the land of the Gods, the Sun God’s castle stood majestically within the clouds; festive lights were twinkling from every single column of the castle. This night was special, it was special for a few reasons; one of the reasons was that the Sun God and Goddess were celebrating a new life, the Sun Goddess has brought into the world twin boys. This is the second reason, twins are a very rare occurrence, so if there is such an event, then it must be celebrated as it is a good omen.

Slowly, the guests began to pour into the courtyard, the guests, being Gods and Goddesses as well, paid their respects to the Sun God. One God in particular, the God of war walked over to the Sun God and Goddess and said proudly, “may your sons be prosperous and healthy, my friend.” The Sun God smiled and replied, “thank you my friend, I hope when the time is right you will train them well.” The other God nodded and went back to enjoy the party. The Sun Goddess turned next to her seat and looked into the very glamorous golden crib where the twin boys slept quietly, arms around each other as they slept peacefully. Smiling she turned to her husband and said, “They are sleeping so soundly.” The father smiled back, “It should not come as a surprise, they have been playing all day today the little ones are tired.”

The festivities were going well and as planned. Everyone was enjoying the party, but everything came to a halt when a dark corridor opened up in the middle of the courtyard. The Sun God stood up immediately, high on alert, he knew this God, but this particular one was not supposed to show up.

This God had a dark aura around him. He was a deadly grey color, his eyes black as the clothes that he wore, and his presence was dark and menacing. He made his way to the Sun God who was standing next to his wife his look hard and intent. The guests were quiet some were whispering something, but others stayed silent. When he was a little ways away from being face to face with the Sun God, he spoke, “So, I didn’t receive an invite to this stuffy affair, so I thought I would come without one.” His tone was low and dark. The Sun God walked over to the intruder and replied with a bitter tone, “You weren’t supposed to receive an invite.” The dark one tsked with disappointment and answered, “that’s unfortunate, you know my temper is short when it comes to these things and I would hate for something to your family....” he walked over to the gold crib in which the twins slept. The Sun Goddess stood next to it on alert as well. The dark one ignored the woman’s presence and continued, “Especially to your precious offspring.” The last part was said with a disgusted and bitter tongue. He lifted his hand and held it over one of the boys. The Sun God immediately demanded, “What are you doing?” He was internally panicking. The dark one smirked and began to move his hand in a rhythmic motion. As he did so, a dark smoky orb formed and began to pour into the sleeping baby boy. The mother began to panic, “what are you doing, stop it!” she exclaimed. The guests gasped and tried to tell the intruder to stop his assault on the child, but he didn’t budge. He looked at the Sun God and said, “this is your punishment, may these powers shroud this boy in darkness, may his true powers be concealed in darkness, may he never be able regain his true powers, may his heart surrender to the darkness of the God of the Underworld.” The Sun God, created an orb of light in between his hands and flung it at the God of the Underworld, making him scrunch up and stop his assault, collapsing on the ground and disappearing into the dark corridor that he came from. The little baby boy began to cry, waking his brother who also began to cry. The Sun Goddess picked up her crying sons and cradled them. Needless to say, the festivities had ended at that moment and the guests were asked to go home.

Later that night, the God and Goddess, were unsure of what to do. They knew that the God of the Underworld would come back again to try another assault, perhaps on the older twin next time. The Sun God then had an idea, “we must send them to earth.” He said. His wife saddened, “who will take care of them, how will they survive?” She wondered. He continued, “We won’t just leave them on the street, we will leave them in the hands of a caring family, come we must do this tonight.” The Sun Goddess nodded sadly and followed her husband through a bright corridor of light.

Meanwhile, on earth, a husband and wife were up early to get started on the crops, as they began to plant; they saw a bright light appear in front of them. They were shocked to see that these two Gods were standing in front of them. The God spoke then, “please do not be alarmed, we have come to ask you and your wife to accept a request.” The husband looked at the two sleeping children cradled in the Goddess’s arms before replying, “of course, please tell us your request.” The Sun Goddess handed the twins to the wife and said, “we were celebrating the birth of our sons, Youngmin and Kwangmin, but the God of the Underworld came uninvited and sealed away Kwangmin’s powers, we are worried that he may try something else, so we ask you to raise our boys for us, keep their powers secret from them, and let them live normal lives.” The husband and wife were overjoyed, they did want to have children, but unfortunately the only child that they could’ve had died prematurely. However, this was a new opportunity for them to be parents. The husband saw how happy his wife looked with the twins sleeping peacefully her arms. He turned to the Gods and replied, “It would be an honor to take care of such beautiful children.” The Gods smiled, relieved. “Thank you, very much, please take good care of them.” Were their last words before they left their sons in the hands of this family.
