The Lonely CrabThe Forty-Seventh Tale
Jinyoung had seen many things in his life as an old yew tree.
From the first signs of animal and plant life, to the first humans who have treaded this forest.
He provided shade and shelter during hot and rainy days.
He watched over the young ones and protected many others from danger.
While his friends slowly disappeared one by one, he continued to stand sturdy and strong every day.
It saddened him to see them go. It hurt when he realised that he was all that remained.
His friends were replaced with useless garbage.
No longer was the beautiful creek where the birds bathed and the little insects and fishes resided.
No longer was the wise old oak tree who told many stories of the past.
There were no more lullabies from the crickets.
No more loud squabbling between the frogs.
No more conflicts with the bears and the reindeers.
The fireflies who loved to dance were gone too.
He missed his friends.
He really missed his home.
