What Life Is All About

Kim’s Family Holiday Villa;

Naeun exhaled her breath as she lied down against the comfy mattress of the bed. Her tiredness still didn’t leave her. Not to mention that she easily got jet-lagged after a flight even it’s only for few hours. She was currently in her room, which she also will be sharing with Chorong. But since Chorong was not here, she felt a little bit lonely. The thought of Woohyun being sick seems quite pitiful to her. However, she needed to admit that she respected Woohyun for sacrificing his health in order to join the trip. She would understand how Woohyun felt, it must be regretful for not bring able to tag along. Gosh, that guy would receive tons of nags from Chorong. No doubt.

“Ah, so boring.” She let out a sigh as she sat up and reached for her luggage. Guess that she still needs to organize few of her things while she had the time to do so. Not to mention that she’ve brought pretty much clothes for a two weeks trip. It looks like as if she’s going to stay in Jeju for a month.

Naeun took out her sundresses and put them into the wardrobe, followed with her other clothes and stuffs. She changed into a more comfortable and casual outfit, a simple black T-shirt with white stripes on it and a pair of Adidas sweatpants. She felt more comfortable in dark colours to be honest, especially black — none can beat that.

Knock knock.

The sound of someone knocking the door greeted her ear as she finished with everything. Who would be the one that knocked her door at time like this? She assumed that everyone wanted to rest. Anyway, she got up and walked to door. As she opened the door, she was greeted by a smiling Kim Myungsoo. Only thank goodness that he’s not having his camera with this time. She didn’t want to look unpresentable in the picture.

“How’s everything?” The latter asked. Seems like the guy only came to make sure that the hospitality given is okay. Well, the hospitality of the Kim’s villa is good, no doubt. “No worries. Everything is just fine I guess.” She answered.

“Ah, I see.” Myungsoo’s dimples appeared as he smiled once again. “Well, then. Sorry for disturbing. You shall continue to rest yourself.” As always, Myungsoo didn’t forget his courtesy whenever he spoke to her.

“Thank you. I will.” Naeun said as she’s closing the door. Only that she was stopped by Myungsoo’s desperate call. “Naeun — Wait!” She immediately let the doorknob go as she looked at the latter in front of her. “Yes, Myungsoo?” She raised her brows. Naeun waited for the guy to answer her question but then it seems like he needed quite a time before he started to speak again.

“God, Myungsoo. You should do it right.” Myungsoo mentally putting a note on himself. He inhaled for oxygen so that he could deliver his speech clearly. “Naeun,” She called her name. The girl just waiting patiently for the guy to speak. “Will you watch the sunset with me?” GOD, HE FINALLY SAID IT! Myungsoo swore that he almost felt like he’s going to explode right now. He’s so proud of himself.

“Sunset? It sounds good, would you even mind to bring me?” Naeun’s answer made Myungsoo’s hopes boosted up. He knew it, she’s just so nice that it’s impossible for her to turn down his invitation. “No, it won’t be a trouble at all. No worries — I know a great spot!” Myungsoo said excitedly. Naeun let out a small chuckle upon seeing Myungsoo’s excited expression. Oh my god, he knows how to be cute too.

“Alright then. See you later, I guess?” Naeun’s hand started to hold the doorknob again. “Y-Yeah. Will be waiting for you at the downstairs on 6.00 PM, okay?” Myungsoo asked again for confirmation. Even though he already predicted that Naeun would say yes, he still feels nervous. “Okay, it’s a deal.” Naeun a smile before closing the door, leaving a happy Kim Myungsoo who was smiling like an idiot. It’s okay, as long as he feels happy.

Sunggyu parked his car into the garage as soon as he arrived at Myungsoo’s family holiday villa. The villa itself is quite big, but not as big as what Myungsoo’s family would looked like. It’s more larger than this and more luxurious. Thanks to Myungsoo, they wouldn’t have to book the hotel for their stay. In fact, Sunggyu himself prefer staying in villa more rather than hotels. That’s why whenever he traveled outside of the country, he’ll make sure to rent a villa of his company’s partners. Only if the Kim’s family villas aren’t there in the certain countries. He always preferred what his ancestors left him, like a Villa which built by his Great Great Grandfather in London.

Realization hit him that he should be going back to his room fast. Eunji probably would be tired of waiting him. Somehow things aren’t going well on the very first day of their trip since Woohyun got hospitalized — but then there’s no one to blame so he just needed to let it pass just like that.

Sighs. God, please let our trip goes smoothly, he prays. He’s hoping that as soon as Woohyun got recovered, they could proceed with their activities. Moving on, Sunggyu glanced to his wristwatch which almost showing 6.00PM. Ah, it’s already this late? He got out from his car and straightly walked into the villa.

“I’m back.” He greeted as soon as he stepped in, only to meet with Myungsoo who — seems quite giddy-ish and happy. Gulps, it creeps Sunggyu out to see his cousin in the state of this. “Welcome back, hyung.” The latter greeted him with some weird sweetness in his voice. Sunggyu raised his brows and tried to think of something. What kind of thing that happened to Myungsoo while he’s gone that makes him become so — smiley and happy like this? Well, he wondered why. Anyway, the way Myungsoo dressed right now made it obvious that they latter is going out to somewhere. “Kiddo, are you going out?” Sunggyu asked.

With a smile, Myungsoo replied — “Of course, Hyung! It won’t be long, I promise to be back as soon as I can. No worries!” Sunggyu was quite taken aback of how excited Myungsoo was. Is he going to do something fun? Is he going to — “Myungsoo, sorry I’m quite late. Gosh, I’m really sorry.” Another voice suddenly interrupted both of them. Sunggyu blinked his eyes as he watched Naeun who just came down from upstairs, wearing her orange sundress along with her hair tied in bun. Click. Ah, now he understood. God, of course. No wonder his younger cousin here seems so happy.

“It’s okay, nevermind. I’m fine.” Myungsoo said. When he almost want to proceed with his next agenda, he remembered of something. “God, how come you forgot about it, Kim Myungsoo?” Thank goodness he remembered or else Myungsoo would feel like killing himself right at the time. “Naeun, can you wait for a little bit? I’ve forgotten something. Will be back in secs.” Myungsoo rushed to his room for a while, leaving Naeun and Sunggyu there. Sunggyu just shook his head off at Myungsoo’s clumsiness. How come he could be forgetful at times like this?

“Welcome back, Sunggyu-oppa. How’s the sick guy? Is he alright?” Naeun greeted the elder who seemed quite tired. Honestly, she felt sorry to Sunggyu, it must be frustrating to him since all the things that he planned didn’t worked out. “Ah, that guy. Hahaha, no worries. He’s fine after all. He’ll be covering at no time since Chorong-sshi will be there to nurse him. She seems reliable at least for me.” Sunggyu stated, causing the young girl to burst into laughter. Well, she’s glad that Woohyun and Chorong finally made up. Seems like all of them should stop worrying over those two. “He’s going to be super fine, I bet. Hope that he’ll recover soon. The group is not complete without them.” True, both of them were the most important person in each groups. In fact, everyone is.

“You’re totally right.” Sunggyu laughed. “God, I really need some rest. My head feels like it’s going to explode at any time.” He put a palm on his forehead, hoping that Woohyun’s fever didn’t infect him. “Have a good rest Sunggyu-oppa. Make sure that you tell Eunji-unnie if you’re not feeling good.” Naeun reminded the elder guy. Aw, how sweet of her. Sunggyu totally understood if Myungsoo got attracted to Naeun, judging by her sweet attitude. This girl really cares about the people around her. “I will, don’t worry.” He warmly smiled.

“Hey, sorry I’m late. Let’s go, or else we’ll be going to miss the sunset!” Myungsoo suddenly came back with a camera in his hand. The moment when Sunggyu realized the camera that Myungsoo was holding, he just smiled quietly. “Duh, this boy is growing up so fast.” Sunggyu talked to himself.

“Hyung, we’ll be back later for dinner so don’t worry.” Myungsoo said to Sunggyu before he and Naeun stepped out. He just needed to tell Sunggyu whenever he’s going out because he knew that the old gramp would be worried of him. It’s a lie, the truth was it’s because he couldn’t stand Sunggyu’s long nagging session — so it’s better to avoid it.

“Stay safe and have a safe journey.” Sunggyu bid them goodbye before he walked back to his room. Sunggyu knocked the door first before entering the room that he’ll be sharing with Eunji because it seems appropriate to do so. He didn’t want to startle Eunji if he suddenly came in. No answer came after his knock earlier so Sunggyu knocked the door once more. Still no answer.

His hand reached for the knob, only to find that it was unlocked. He turned the knob around and the door was opened, revealing a sleeping Jung Eunji in her outfit that she’ve been wearing for the rest of the day. Sunggyu entered the room with a smile as he took a glance of his sleeping wife. “Gosh, she must be so tired.” He spoke softly to himself as he walked closer to the bed where the sleeping beauty was sleeping. Her soft snores sounded quite clear when he came closer, and Sunggyu couldn’t help but admire how adorable his wife looked while she was sleeping. God, what an overflowing cuteness.

Sunggyu came closer to the bed, his cheeks flushed a bit when he sat down beside the bed — with Eunji’s clear face was facing him. He used his fingers to remove few strands of hair that’ve been covering her face. Without his realization, the index finger of his moved by itself, poking the soft flesh of Eunji’s right cheek. God, so fluffy.

Sunggyu shook off his head, realizing what he’d done might awake his tired wife so he drew his hand away from his wife’s face. For God’s sake, he must had been so tired that he kept acting without thinking. Duh.

Sunggyu stood up, stretching his muscles before he approached his luggage and grabbed few of his stuffs. While Eunji was asleep, it would be a good opportunity for him to take a bath first. He needed to be more considerate since this would be his first time sharing a room with Eunji. He wouldn’t really expect for his young wife to be agreed on Myungsoo’s idea to put them in the same room. Seriously, this villa could even  managed more people since there were like 10 rooms or perhaps more. However, he still thought staying in the same room with Eunji is a good idea, he’ll be able to learn about her more, perhaps.

“Oh my goodness, Myungsoo! Don’t go too fast!” Naeun shouted while holding to Myungsoo’s waist real tight, causing the latter to let out cheerful giggle. “Ah, it must be a dream come true.” Myungsoo thought in his mind. The wind that’ve been his face didn’t bother him at all. Except for the girl who’s sitting behind him. Well, Myungsoo didn’t expect the would agree with his idea going to the beach by riding the bicycle that he stored in the garage. Usually, he’d go for a ride whenever he came to his villa during the old days. And originally, the idea was his — since he hadn’t been riding for so long, so why not? “Hold on tight, Naeun-ah.” Myungsoo reminded the girl behind him as they’re going through the narrow road that would lead them to Myungsoo’s favourite spot.

“Oh my god hahahahaha, this is so fun!” Myungsoo’s heart fluttered at Naeun’s light chuckles and excitement. True, Myungsoo didn’t regret his decision at all for ditching his tiredness for this girl. It’s going to worth, he thought. As they came closer to the beach, the wind was a little bit strong but still peaceful. The weather is absolutely good.

Naeun absolutely enjoyed the ride with Myungsoo and she’s not even bothered with the summer wind that’ve been hitting her skin. Ah, she felt so refreshed looking along at the nature and the reddish sky, showing that it almost dusk. Seems like they’re just going to arrive at the right time.

At the end of the narrow road, Myungsoo stopped his bicycle, asking Naeun to got off first as he parked his bicycle. He got off and not to forget to take his camera in the front basket. Both of them walked with Myungsoo leading the way. The way to Myungsoo’s favourite spot is quite harsh since there’s too many rocky surfaces. The sounds of the sea waves just felt so inviting. Ah, it would be nice to swim. “Be careful, there’s so many rocks on the beach surfaces.” Myungsoo warned, leading the way as slow as he could. Safety measures is important so that both of them won’t be injured.

However, the city girl was too fond of the nature surrounding her, until she tripped over some small rocks. Only that Myungsoo was fast enough to catch her before she fell down. “Girl, I’ve told you to be careful.” Myungsoo sounded worried, causing the girl to blush. “Oh my god, sorry. I’m just so clumsy.” Naeun said, adjusting her standing posture. Thank goodness that both of her feet were alright and she didn’t get injured over the small accident before. Even though she said that Myungsoo seems didn’t satisfied as he bent down to see Naeun’s feet that’ve covered by her sandals. Slowlly, he checked the ankles and the toes until he was sure that the girl is not injured. “Goodness, you’re lucky I guess. I’d used to get scratch marks during the old days.” The latter drew a smile of relief.

Naeun was touched of how worried Myungsoo was and she made a mental note to herself to be more careful so that Myungsoo won’t be worried of her anymore. They walked again, slow and steady until they reached a place where there were so many big rocks, covering them from seeing the ocean. “We’re here.” Myungsoo said as he stopped in front of one of the big rocks.

“Eh, already? How are we going to see the sunset if this rock is covering our sight?” The girl said, confused. Myungsoo chuckled as he approached the big rock, and roamed his hand over it. “Take off your sandals,” He said while switching on his camera which was hanging on his neck. Naeun didn’t question any longer and just did what she’ve been told to. As Naeun did, Myungsoo undid his sandals too and put it beside Naeun’s sandals while Naeun just watched the latter. Honestly, this guy is too much surprising — because she couldn’t even expect what he’s going to do. Seriously.

Myungsoo adjusted the angle of his camera, focusing the camera at the sandals before. Okay, now she got it. It’s for the purpose of photography.

‘Click. Click. Click.’

After few clicks, Myungsoo finally got satisfied of his works as he smiled non-stopped at the previews on his camera. “I don’t know that capturing sandals would be fun too, for you.” Naeun expressed her amusement towards the latter as she put on her sandals again.

Myungsoo smiled, “It’s not just about capturing you know. I’m actually capturing memories, right now. And that’s the first one.”

“The first one?”

“Yeah.” He nodded, his hair that’ve been blown by the wind didn’t distract his look even a bit. “The first one of my summer memories.” He smiled deeper, showing his beautiful dimples. Naeun just stayed quiet upon hearing his reason. Sometimes, she didn’t really understand the guy’s thinking — but the way he thinks is special.

Moving on, Myungsoo led her to climb onto the big rock. Apparently, Myungsoo already created few steps on the rock back during his childhood days so that he could easily climb over the rock. Once they reached at the top, a beautiful scenery were lying in front of them.

Naeun barely could say any words as she was too mesmerized with the beautiful sight in front of her. There’s blue ocean with its graceful and beautiful waves, the sea gulls flying above the water and the mountains standing high and tall, proud with its own beauty — everything is just so perfect.

“It’s time.” Myungsoo said as he looked at the time. Naeun hugged her knees, focusing her gaze on the setting sun. Myungsoo in the other hand comfortably started taking pictures of the beautiful nature while enjoying the wind.

Naeun only looked to the scenery beyond, she almost couldn’t even blink. She couldn’t remember when was the last time she went to visit the beach. It reminds her to every small pieces of her memories, the time that she spent with her parents when they’re still there for her. Even now, they’re still there. Aren’t they?
Out of sudden Myungsoo stopped taking pictures and he put down his camera on his lap. “Hey.” The latter called out the girl. Naeun seemed lost in her thought that she didn’t even heard his call. Something was bothering him. The girl beside him of course. She’s crying. And it hurts him to see her in this kind of state.

“Naeun.” He tried once again, along with a gentle pat on her arm. Finally, the girl moved her focus from the scenery in front of her and turned to him. Few teardrops slipped very smoothly upon her cheeks. “Are you okay?”He asked, waiting for an answer. Naeun didn’t answer, yet she just drew a soft smile on her lips.

Myungsoo watched silently, as the girl wiped her tears with her delicate fingers. Geez, it’s damn embarrassing. She didn’t even realized that she was actually crying. Gosh, the latter would be very worried.

“No worries, Myungsoo. I’m okay.” She said, reassuring him. Myungsoo didn’t believe her of course, for God’s sake the girl just cried in front of him! It made him wonder if bringing her here makes her felt sad. God, Myungsoo would hate himself for that.

“Uh— I’m sorry, but should we go—”

“I want to stay longer. The view here is very nice after all.” She cut him off, and smiled. Somehow it calmed Myungsoo off and he could register that Naeun was okay after all. But still, he’s still curious about her crying earlier.

“God, I’m such an idiot.” Naeun said between her chuckles. God, her chuckles sounded like the most calming music in his ears. It’s something that he always wished to hear for the rest of the day.

“Sorry, for making you worried. But trust me, Myungsoo — I’m okay. It’s just that — this place kind of reminds me to my parents. It reminds me to the memories that I had as a child.” Naeun calmly explained, her eyes still plastered on the view in front of them while Myungsoo was the most loyal listener at that place.

“No worries. I was kind of sad but I’m mostly happy. It makes me want to rewind the time. But of course, the only thing left was memories.” Myungsoo couldn’t help but felt a thug on his heart. God, why does a nice girl like her needs to lose all of those gifts? It’s just so unfair. And for some reason, he started to think of his mother. Oh, and a little bit part of his father too. God, he missed them.

“Hey.” Myungsoo put a hand on her shoulder, patting it softly. “It’s must been bery hard for you but I’m proud that you’re able to pull yourself, to stand up. I’m proud of you, Naeun-ah. You’re such a strong girl.” Myungsoo swore that he felt like bursting at any time. The smile that decorated Naeun’s face couldn’t make his heart stop beating at all.
“Thanks for the compliment, Myungsoo but nah — I managed to be strong because of those people around me. Those people will always be for me whenever I needed them. My brother, my friends, oh and also you too!” She said, chuckling again. Myungsoo was speechless.

“Thank you, Myungsoo for lighting up my days. I owe you a lot.” She uttered the words sincerely, and Myungsoo could feel it. This is one of the traits that he loved about this girl. She would always thought about the others and treasure each of them well. No wonder, he couldn’t stop adoring her.

Myungsoo just nodded, and for some reason he felt like he didn’t deserve her appreciation. He didn’t do much compared than the others, her friends who had been with her since day one, and her brother who would always support her in everything she did. And there’s him, trying his best to impress her and make her happy by his own ways. This girl, she deserves all of the happiness around the world. And that would light him too.

Myungsoo feels like as if the time was stopping. They just stayed still enjoying the views, and probably went back home after the sun completely set. And as for Myungsoo, he needed to think of more things and plans to do — in order to create more memories with them, and most importantly, her.
