Christmas Fairy

For Vivianchan

Pairing: Woogyu

Prompt: Woohyun finds a teeny tiny box under the christmas tree and turns out it's a fairy with an amazing ability to sing but the fairy will only live until the last second of Christmas.

A/N: Sorry for this incoherent fic. I was too lazy to name OCs too so yeah. I shall shoot myself now.

"Are you in any case Nam Woohyun?"

The voice wasn't as small and high-pitched as I expected it to be.

In fact it was just like of a normal person, it was definitely higher than my deep voice but it was also melodic—the voice is something I can describe as a Rock or RnB type of voice.

The guy was tiny, and I am not talking about midgets, this guy is literally tiny that he can actually fit inside my hand.

The guy has white skin, small and almost non-existent eyes, chubby cheeks, thin rosy lips and red hair. Other than his tiny size, he also has wings, freaking white translucent wing which is butterfly-shaped, it is connected on his back and flutters fast as he floats in the air.

I just got a fairy, a ing Christmas Fairy as a gift.

"That's it! I promise I'll stop drinking and smoking, just get rid of this hallucination right now." I let my mind wander back to few hours ago when I was sitting on a bar, drinking the holidays away. Slipping a drug or something on my drink would be easy.

"I am not a hallucination." The little fairy huffed his cheeks indignantly and proceeded to fly over me and pinch the hell out of me.

"Owww! Stop it! Fine you are real!" I let out whimpers of protest as I tried to swat the fairy away.

"That's what you get for doubting me." He stuck his tiny tongue out at me. "You should be glad I am even in this place."

"Sure, sure, having a small fairy to take care of is something to be glad of." I rolled my eyes at his words. How the hell would I handle something that is supposed to be non-existent?

"Yah! I can take care of myself fine." He glared at me in irritation, narrowing his already narrow eyes further, making them look closed. "If anything else, you are the one who can't take care of himself properly you know? I was sent over here to accompany you this, can't you even be grateful for it? Sheesh- humans these days..."

My eye twitched in annoyance, the little guy has only been outside of the box for minutes but he has already nagged as much as my mother can in the same amount of time. I am already regretting the decision to open that tiny box left on my doorstep at the first day of December.

Will you continue in being irresponsible?! You are an adult already! You should start doing things on your own! You can't even take care of yourself properly! How are you supposed to grow up and manage our business?!

The words of my father earlier tasted bitter on my tongue.

"I don't need anyone to take care of me. You can go back to where you came from." I replied as I walked to my room entered it, slamming the door close before slumping down the bed and falling asleep with a heavy heart.

The next morning came and sunlight managed to enter the room, lighting the room up, some of the rays directly landing on my face.

That's weird, I never open the blinds.

I felt my eyes twitching and my face scrunching up in irritation. It is still so early to wake up.

"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" A loud cheerful voice echoed in the air, accompanied by my blankets being pulled away from me. "Today is a good day! Wake up Woohyunnie~"

What the hell? Since when did I have a loud annoying roommate and since when did someone call me 'Woohyunnie'?

I cracked my eyes open to see a small pale figure flying, yes flying towards me—hovering in front of my face with small eyes is the fairy with white wings.

His expression is haughty and he looks proud that he managed to wake me up.

"It's six in the morning now Woohyunnie, you need to wake up." He beamed at me, nodding to himself—possibly feeling very accomplished at the moment.

"Shut up." I groaned as I snatched the blankets from him and covered myself up again, burying my face in the soft pillow on my head.

"Woohyunnie~ You have work today! You can't sleep again, you'll be late!" He tried to get the blanket from me again, but this time I held on to it. Nobody can force me to go to work. Not dad, not mom and not even a nameless fairy who feels like he has any control in my life.

"Woohyunnie~" I felt a small weight on my nape. "If you don't wake up then I'm going to scream very, very loud at your ears."

"Do your worst." I half mumbled at the pillow, not caring a bit. I have probably heard the worst sound before.

I was tasked as a judge in the audition process in the company before, believe me, almost all of them can't even differentiate one note from the other. If usual people miss it by let's say half step, there were people who missed about 2-4 whole steps away from the desired note. In other words, it seemed like they suddenly changed the key they are singing in, IN THE RIGHT FRICKING MIDDLE OF THE SONG—some even done it on the same exact word, the first syllable high and then then the second one low. That low register would be used for the rest of the song, probably giving up in trying to sing high notes.

Those people are failed immediately for obvious reasons, they would look like a puppy kicked to the ground—trying to beg for a second try. Some of the sneaky talentless girls tried alluring the male judges with their beauty—me being their first and foremost target. Sad to say for them, I don't base who I pass with looks only—which is why I don't judge in the auditions personally now. They send me a live stream recording of the voices and I judge them in a room just across them, for me to see their expressions when I reject them in less than 60 seconds.

So yeah, I was prepared for the worst. He could do any noise he can and I won't be affected—not at all.

"You asked for it." I could feel him shuffling against me. "Hana, deul, set. Ahhhhhhhhh!"

It hurts, of course it did—the fricking fairy really did it right beside my right ear. But putting aside the pain from the loud voice, the scream wasn't a normal ragged shout people make—it was a musical scream and a pretty good one at that. He managed to hold it and make it steady, it was smooth and can be compared to a honey like voice. He pulled off what most idol-wannabes can't do.

There is also something else I can't put my finger on.

My grip loosened on the thick blanket unconsciously, he took it as a chance to pull it away from me as he watched my eyes crack open.

"Told you I can wake you up." He looked smug as I reluctantly sat up.

"Yeah, your scream is the worst I have heard ever in my life." I snorted, automatically using what I usually said to those who tried to audition and sometimes even incompetent trainees. "Your voice is irritating, really."

"But..." His smug look suddenly disappeared, replaced with an uneasy depressed expression.

He looks like those pitiful people in the company, I just had to not look at him.

So there, I suddenly stood up and went directly to the dining area, where a ready breakfast would be served by the maid. I didn't bother to look back to the tiny guy sitting on my pillow.

"But... I guess I am a failure as a fairy."

I hastened my steps, not wanting to hear his mumbling anymore. When I came to the dining area, there was no food on the table—no maids greeting me good morning.

'I will cut off any allowance and support for you until you act appropriately as the next in line for being the CEO of the company.' The note someone gladly left on the table, read.

My father is behind this.

I hastily grabbed my phone and dialled his number. He can't do this to me, his heir.

"Yah! What is the meaning of this?!" I shouted as soon as the line connected.

"It is exactly what the paper says. Until you become a worthy heir for the company, all support for you will stop." He snorted. "What kind of a soon to be CEO goes drinking at bars and gets wasted?"

"I get it that you removed all of these things." I argued. "But seriously? You sent me a noisy fairy?!"

I tried to hold back those words, realizing that I sounded either insane or high.

There was a few moments of silence before father spoke back.

"Woohyun? Are you on drugs?" He sounded mad. "Really? FAIRY?! Do you want me to disown you right now?"

CRAP.

"Uhhh no. I said lady—a noisy lady." I bit my lips in frustration. I hope Dad is dumb enough to believe this.

"Woohyun. I am not deaf, you said fairy." My father insisted.

"Well I just got it mixed up." I blurted out nervously. "You know, she really looked like one. Small face, pointy chin, high cheekbones, pixie haircut."

"Woohyun." My father's dreading tone came.

"What father? Kshhh, the signal is weak here. Kshhhh. I can't hear anything. Ksshhhh. I'll see you later at work." I hastily said at the phone. I bring some girls home when I am drunk, he is used to it—he'll get over it.

"Woohyun, a cellular tower is very near your apartme-"

I hanged the phone up. I will face his wrath later when we meet.

"Woohyunnie?" A voice said from the entrance of the room. I turned to look at the source; the fairy is their flying towards me.

"What do you want?!" I snapped at him and he looked taken aback. Somehow he looks a tad fearful.

"N-Nothing... I-I ju-juth..." Yeah, he definitely looks afraid of me.

"Why are you afraid of me?" I asked, hating the way his eyes are focused on the ground—accompanied by a slight nervous shake. "Why the hell would you be afraid of me?!"

I hated it. It reminded me of my father and how he talks to his employees, his maids, his servants, his wife and of course, his sons.

Boohyun-hyung and I always hated it, which is why my brother ran away from home and did what he liked—cooking.

He was supposed to be the one to inherit the entertainment company. He ran away leaving it to me, I don't blame him though—working for father is hell on earth. Good thing I actually liked music, which is why I stayed longer than he did.

"What?! Answer me?!" I felt rage building up inside me—rage from my current situation; someone, although not human, is afraid of me.

"N-Nothing!" He squeaked out, his whole body trembling hard as he tried to distance himself away from me. He is not afraid... He is terrified.

I felt a tug on my gut as I realized that. He is a fairy, a Christmas one—he shouldn't be terrified of plain humans, but he is.

"You... you should just stay away from me... Go back to where you belong." I gritted my teeth as I calmed myself down.

"I... I can't yet... not until Christmas..." He said in a small voice.

"So you will disappear in 24 days?" I asked him and he nodded weakly. "Then just stay clear until you disappear, I don't ing care."

"I-I can't do that." He squeaked. "M-My mission..."

"I don't give a damn about your mission." I replied. "Just stay away from me. Go. Stop messing with my mind, fairies don't exist."

"B-But..."

"Go away!"

He sighed and nodded, his head hung low as he drifted away from me and to the small box which he came from, sitting on the cover.

The little nameless fairy is fiddling with his fingers nervously—not daring to look anywhere but downwards. I slight droop on his wings shows that he is sad, afraid and nervous—looking not so fairy-like; he shouldn't try to come near me, I destroy everything I touch.

It is true though, everything I come contact with is destroyed—not physical and tangible things, but the abstract things. I destroyed the trust my mother gave to me, the bonds with my family and friends, the dreams of those wannabes—even mine when I fought with dad in letting me become one of his singers; he see the idols and artists under his company as lackeys—he expected me to take over in handling them and not want to join them.

If he is indeed a fairy, he must be abstract—just intramental since they shouldn't exist. If I touch him, he will be destroyed—broken; much more than now after I said those things.

I pushed those thoughts away and I silently made my way to the bathroom. I already woke up early; it won't hurt anyone if I come to the company in time—I'll just have breakfast there.

So that's what I did, I went out of my flat without sparing a glance at the fairy and went to work—on time for the very first time.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Everything in the company is a mess, we were supposed to produce a Christmas song for a rookie group we will debut soon. The problem? None of them can actually sing well, like none. Some of them can at least hold a note but there are obvious people who just entered because of looks.

"ing Back Vocal, where the hell is he?!" I heard Mr Pretty Boy, whose name I didn't bother to learn, complained. "He should be here right now, recording for me."

Yeah, the company uses talentless people on the front, as a visual while the others who doesn't have that much looks get to stay behind the scenes, singing for them.

It was a dirty system, but that is the system my father used to bring groups into popularity.

"Where is the back vocal?" I asked the group's manager.

"He doesn't answer his calls. Nobody knows where he is, we checked his apartment but he is not there." The manager rubbed his head in frustration. "Nobody was close enough to him in the company. Another entertainment might have offered him a contract but we won't know; that's possible considering he's not ugly—he just looks like an average guy; that is enough for other companies."

But not ours. I thought bitterly at the memories of the outcome of the auditions. I get outvoted by the other judges once those who looks good enough showed their charms and their money—the result is people like Mr Pretty Boy. On the other hand, those I pass (aka those who can sing) often fails with the other judges in terms of looks so they are just accepted as back vocals.

"Cancel the recording then, or find another back vocal." I replied, the manager's frustration rubbing on me.

"We don't have any of them left. You know how scarce they are." The manager replied, because yeah, they are rare. "Many of the talented ones apply at other companies, they know we accept people with high standards on visuals."

"Yah are you calling us talentless you idiot manager?!" Mr Pretty Guy snapped at their manager, Dongwoo. "I can sing better than that fat guy, I can record my own part."

"Tch. Go on try. Let's see if you gain fans with your ear bleeding voice." I scoffed at him, defending my staff—these visual guys are so conceited. "And besides, if you used your body as the standard of normal, then everybody else would be fat. You look like a walking skeleton."

I dragged Dongwoo, their manager and also one of the few friends who persisted to stay with me, out of the recording studio.

"Hell, those brats are irritating." Dongwoo complained. "What should we do? The company has released the teaser pictures for them. We can't remove that guy, his supposed position is the leader and main vocals."

"Why would you make a fake like him the main vocals?" I asked him. "His voice is the worst I have ever heard."

"Well his back vocals is supposed to be one of the best in the company." Dongwoo explained. "The company shouldn't have made this group, they lack a main rapper and another good vocalist."

"I thought he is the only fake there?" I furrowed my eyebrows, the report says that the others are okay.

"Well the others managed to convince the management, I just found about it earlier." Dongwoo said. "The other main vocal and the main rapper are worthless. They probably slept with their vocal coaches. This is a dance group so people are not expecting miraculous vocals anyway."

"So how many back vocals are we missing?" I asked Dongwoo who really looks problematic, he has the worst group ever in the company. "Three?"

"Yeah, the others are fine." He said bitterly. "However, as I said earlier, we have no free back vocal left. We can import trainees from other companies but I doubt they would want to be a back vocal."

"What the hell will we do now?" I groaned in frustration. "Stupid company, maybe we could push their debut back. Or replace the members with other trainees, let's just say to the media that there were problems in their contract."

"Well they are all rich people. They can damage your father's company." Dongwoo replied thinking very deeply until a realization dawned on him, making him look like an enlightened dinosaur—he always does when he gets crazy ideas. "You can record as one of the main vocals! I can do the rapping! We only need to search for another guy!"

Like I said, crazy.

"What the hell? We can't do that, we will need to follow them in every live appearance they make and that is not fun. Father won't also agree with it." I quickly shot his idea down.

I know where this idea is going, he wants me to sneak around father again and try my luck as a singer again.

"Well the Christmas song would be released pre-debut, no live performances yet—just a special audio. Their official debut is still next year. If anything bad happens, the group can just be broken down, like you said—contract issues. At least less people will doubt our company's credibility in talent picking. They have already sang a song so people won't necessarily know them as talentless." He explained.

"And what about those rich kids?" I raised my eyebrow at him. "They can still have a lawsuit against the company."

"Well we gave them the chance. If things come to the worst we'll just say that they insisted to be accepted even if they are not deserving. They wouldn't dare pursue a career after, people will notice their voice changed for the worse. If they do we can make a bullying story where they stole the voice of the back vocals, we accept trainees via video audition, we didn't know they lip synched their video and asked a back vocal to sing it for them." Dongwoo said excitedly. "The recording of the song will be done individually anyway, some of the guys took a vacation leave so we just sent them their parts for them to record in whatever studio they like."

"Your father is a sneaky man, he can control the lawsuit case. What he can't though, is the image the public sees, so this is probably one of the best actions to take." He continued. "If the public asked why they passed as a group, we can say they threatened the company, those three can easily do it—and they slept with vocal trainers, then we fire those trainers that slept with them."

"So instead of being a talentless company we will be an and unknowing bullied company?" I retorted. "Not cool bro. What if they found out that I'm the one singing? That would be a mess, the son of the CEO obviously can't be bullied by stupid trainees."

"Well, all companies are s anyway. It is better to be known as an than be a nugu talentless one." Dongwoo reasoned out. "They can get over kicking members out, but not intentionally lying to the public. As for your case, let's just say it was part of the threats, we can't find someone else to sing so you had too."

"Fine. I don't have anyone to make as the other vocals though." I finally gave in to Dongwoo, knowing he'll never give up on the idea once he set his sight on it.

"The deadline is still next week, you can find one for sure." He reassured me as he went back inside the room where his group is. "See you later Woohyun. We still have work to do."

I groaned at the idea of going back to my office to manage and do paper works, I really hate those.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When I came back to the house, the fairy who was sitting on the box was now lying on it, sleeping peacefully. It was late at night when I got home from work so it wasn't a surprise. I was half-expecting him to be gone though, since yeah fairies don't exist for sane people.

He looked tired, the warm glow of his wings faded.

"Woohyunnie~ you're here already." He said weakly as his eyes cracked open.

"You... what happened to you?" I asked him immediately.

"T-This is nothing." He squeaked out in a tiny voice.

"You... you should just stay away from me...

"B-But..."

"Go away!"

"Is this because I left you alone here?" I asked him. "You need my presence don't you?"

"N-No." He said, but it was obvious that he is lying.

"Stupid, why didn't you say so earlier?" I picked him up from his box. "I wouldn't have left you here alone if you said that."

"B-But Woohyunnie w-was really angry earlier." He replied. He was right I snapped at him big time earlier, he was terrified of me; of course he won't say anything.

"Sorry... I really just have temper issues after I talk to my dad." I explained. "I'll try to be nicer around you though."

"Y-You don't have to do that Woohyunnie." He said as he sat on my hands.

"But I will do so. Do you know how weak you look right now? I bet you can't even fly." I replied as I walked to the kitchen. "Do fairies eat? I'll try to cook dinner for myself, maybe I could let you eat too."

"Ani..." I felt a bit disappointed by his reply, I never ate with other people when I moved in this house. He looked directly at me, probably noticing my expression. "But we can though."

"Okay then, what do you want?" I asked him as I opened the refrigerator.

"SWEETS!" He suddenly shouted, pointing to a tub of vanilla ice cream.

"Yah. Is that a proper dinner?" I scolded him although I got the ice cream for him.

"Yay! Thank you Woohyunnie!" He shouted in joy as I scooped the ice cream for him, heating water for an instant ramyun while doing so.

The little fairy munched on the sweet ice cream with a happy and content expression on his face. His small eyes are sparkling with joy and an almost permanent smile is plastered on his face.

He looks cute like that.

I quickly shook the thought away, relating it to his race. All fairies are supposed to be cute.

Soon after, the ramyun cooked and I joined him on the table, he however is still too captivated by the ice cream that he didn't notice me until I snapped my hands in front of him

"W-Why Woohyunnie?" He asked me suddenly. The slight shake still there.

I immediately put on my best friendly smile before reply. "I just wanted to ask if you want more of that."

He immediately cringed for no reason though. "Woohyunnie... your smile looked creepy. It gives me shivers."

Wait... my million dollar smile which attracts girls is creepy?

"Creepy?!" I asked him and he nodded meekly. "That was my best smile!"

"But Woohyunnie... it looked too forced for me..." He reasoned out. "For some reason I could see grease dripping from it and I don't know why."

"That's not a good reason enough." I felt myself pout, old habits showing up.

"Okay fine it was cute. But I still cringe at it okay?" He said, cringing further.

"You are mean. I thought you are a fairy. You can't be mean to me." I replied in a flat voice.

"I'm a fairy, not Santa Claus. I can say and do whatever I want." He continued eating his ice cream. "Except for being away from you though."

I felt guilt rising up inside me but I pushed it down. "Yah, you're acting smug again. I liked you better when you can't say anything against me."

"You said you're going to be nice to me. I'm not afraid of you anymore." He retorted back.

"I lied. I can still be angry at you." I scoffed.

"You didn't. I can tell that you hate being feared." He said, looking at me with serious eyes. "You don't want to hurt others."

"Wha- How did you know?" I asked him.

"I'm sent to you remember? I know basics of your personality." He replied. "You are passionate about music and yet that dream is crushed. You blame every bad thing in your life to yourself."

"How did you know all of these?!" I felt vulnerable under his stare; he knows every facet of myself. "Are you a crazy stalker fairy or what?!"

"Ani. It is what I only remembered from what was told to me." He explained. "They thought you needed my company so they sent me here. Analyzing the information on your personality was necessary to see who the fairy to be sent here is; I was the most compatible one so I was sent here."

"First, I don't need your company. Second, that one decided that ." I replied. "Last, your life . You do this every Christmas?"

"Yes. We fairies do this every year." He answered.

"Really, why is the existence of fairies still not known by many?" I mused as I finished eating the ramyun. "Where were you sent last year?"

"I don't remember..." He trailed off. "The fairy is reset and the human forgets everything about the fairy when they part."

"That's... sad… you don't remember anything besides when you woke up from that box?" He nodded his head weakly. "Not even a name?"

This time he looked at me. "I have a name... Sunggyu; that is my name. There is nothing else to it though, not even a last name."

Sunggyu... there is something weird with the name.

"Sunggyu." I tried saying, the name rolled on my tongue easily. He looked at me with his narrow eyes. "Gyu. I can call you that right? If you’re providing me company I don't need then I can call you that right?"

He nodded at me eagerly. "You need my companionship though, they wouldn't send me here for nothing."

"Yeah right, you need me more than I need you stupid fairy." I rolled my eyes as I dumped the used table wares on the dishwasher. "You can't even stay away from me; so needy."

"Yah! It is not my fault I am connected to you stupid Woohyunnie." He crossed his arms as I pass by him to enter my room to sleep.

Sunggyu was still hovering at the door of the dining table, his wings now functional again. "What? You don't want to sleep? Come here already Gyu."

"Wait I am going to sleep in the same room you?" He suddenly gasped and covered his chest with his hands. "I'm a conservative fairy! I can't do that!"

Wait... what the hell is he pointing out?

"What?!" I burst out laughing. "You can't be serious."

Sunggyu's face became red with embarrassment.

"You are the size of my hand okay. The farthest I can go with you is with you using your whole limbs." I laughed again. "Besides, I don't attack fairies to remove their innocence."

"So if I were human then you will?" Sunggyu gasped more. "ert!"

"I am not a ert." I stomped off to where he is standing and grabbed him. "Come on I'm completely sleepy now."

"Wai-" He tried to say but I already have placed him on the bed after plopping down on it.

"Sleep." I insisted. "If you don't I'll leave you alone here again."

"Fine." He huffed and lied down beside me, head nearly touching my ear and feet near my shoulders. "If you touch me or anything I will bite you."

"As if."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The next day, Sunggyu woke me up again with his noise. This time though, I didn't snap at him since I pretty much expected it.

For the past few days, he would go with me at work. Apparently other people can't really see him so it was safe for him to go flying around wherever I go.

"Sunggyu, stop flying around. You are distracting me." I hissed at him as I reviewed paper works for the management again.

"But Woohyunnie... Flying is so much fun!" He replied hovering right in front of me.

"It is disturbing my work." I stated.

"What is disturbing your work?" Dongwoo who suddenly entered my office, asked.

"N-Nothing." I said. "What brings you here?"

"Oh, I'm here to give you the music sheets for both of the vocals." He replied, handing me a folder. "You could record it in your house, you have a studio right?"

"What about the other vocals?" I asked him.

"I'll help you find one if you really can't do so alone." He grinned at me. "Well I just came here to give that, the brats needs me."

"Those three trainees will be angry at you if they hear you say that." I rolled my eyes.

"As if I am afraid of them." He scoffed. "Besides all other trainees call them that."

"Really? Well I guess the other trainees are right. They are really brats." I replied. "You should go back to them if you don't want them to throw tantrums."

"Yeah, I better go." He said. "Good luck on the recording, and great job on reducing your tardiness."

Dongwoo closed the door and Sunggyu is back with flying around again.

I looked at the music sheets, the song was titled 'Lately', a Christmas themed love song. The parts for the vocals are easy enough for me, the problem is finding the other one—I would have to search for someone willing to do it.

I kept the music sheets aside for now, I still have a lot of paper work to do—that problem will be dealt with later.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Tomorrow came though, and it was already Saturday. To be honest I actually forgot about the song when I got home and I just left the music sheets on the table. I was promptly reminded of it though when the familiar lyrics of one of the main vocals rang in the air.

saranghae

heutnallineun baremeul ye

mot jonhejin gobegeul ye

hayan nun-gwa hamkke chajagaso

The one who was singing was definitely good. His voice is melodic and soft but powerful at the same time. He can definitely snag the position of the main vocals.

I went to the living room to see who it is and I wasn't surprised to see the little fairy reading the music sheets intently. His voice was familiar enough and besides, we are the only two here inside the house.

The little fairy's eyebrows are furrowed in concentration, his hair slightly messed up—indicating that he woke up not too long ago.

"Gyu." I said simply and he looked like a thief caught red-handed.

"Woohyunnie." He squeaked looking nervous. It was ridiculous that he is looking guilty when he actually solved my dilemma.

"It's fine." I chuckled a bit when Sunggyu finally relaxed. "Actually, I have a favour to ask of you."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Woohyunnie why didn't you show me this room before?" He flied around my personal studio where I spend my free time.

"Well I haven't got the time to Gyu." I replied. Sunggyu is still inspecting each equipment in the room. "Hey stop flying around so we can get this done already, I want to eat a proper lunch."

"Is ice cream a part of lunch?" He asked with his eyes wide at the thought.

"Sunggyu, it is starting to get cold outside. Are you sure you want ice cream?" I asked him and his smile dimmed a bit. "I mean, don't you want to try other things? Like hot chocolate?"

His smiled brightened again.

"Note to self: Fairies loves sweets. Never suggest to them to stop eating it if you don't want to feel like a guilty mean person who takes lollipops from kids."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Woohyunnie has a good voice, why is Woohyunnie not a singer?" Sunggyu pointed out as we ate lunch, just after we recorded the song.

"Because I can't be one." I said simply. "Isn't that written in my profile or something?"

"Yeah. It is." He replied sadly. "I'm sorry I forgot for a moment."

"Good, then I don't have to explain myself that much." I said, standing up after finishing my meal.

"But can't you try again?"

I heard him say when I was about to leave the room.

"Try again to reach it, if you really want to do something you should never give up on it."

"My father will be horrendously angry at me if I do any further than I've done." I remembered my years of rebellion, auditioning to other companies who was willing to accept me until the moment my father intervenes and drags me out, scolding me about having no shame.

"You should still try. He won't be that angry as time pass by."

"I am already trying my last shot. This song... this is the last time I'll be sneaking around, if this doesn't work then I'm out."

"You shouldn't. Not everybody is given what you have, some don't experience opportunities for them to do what they want; some are stuck at the bottom, doing everything to live until they finally die." He replied. "And there are others who see that glimpse of light before being locked out of reach of it; letting them see what they want but with them losing the battle when they are about to reach it—whether with compromises or none."

"Whatever." I replied, going back to my room.

He can't just lecture me with what I do with life. I tried, but I'm already here where I am without any choice but to bear the company.

The remaining time for the weekend was spent in silence, with Sunggyu just staying at the required radius for him. All we did is to eat in silence and watch TV in the same manner, the audio recordings have already been sent to Dongwoo.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The next Monday came, Sunggyu was back to his usual happy self—not speaking of what transpired during the weekend. He still accompanied me during work—flying around in my office.

He stopped bugging me about my dreams for the meantime, which was good actually.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"I'm glad you agreed to this Woohyun, the management was in chaos when I told them about the problem." Dongwoo said as he entered my office, I was doing more paper works as Sunggyu was dozing off, sitting on my on my shoulder and leaning on my neck.

"Well this is only a temporary solution Dongwoo. Did they ask who were the ones singing?" I asked him.

"Well I admitted my part but as for the vocals, I said that I found singers in bars who didn't mind being a back vocal." He said. "In case their debut pushes through, I'll say I lost contact to them if you really didn't want to pursue this. Your father would automatically recognize your voice you know? He'll probably stay quiet about it though, unless we announce to the whole world that it is really you."

"What about the predicted backlash of the three? Are you starting to prepare for it?" I asked him.

"Oh about that, there has been rumours of bullying and threatening. The back vocals was supposed to be blackmailed by that . Also, they have practically bought their way in as expected." Dongwoo replied.

"Tch, things wouldn't be like this if we didn't use the back vocal system." I stated.

"True, but we can't do anything about it. The rich people can buy their way in, that's how this world works. We can just compensate with using the system—people aren't really kind towards those idols who can't sing."

"Those who are stuck in the shadows are the ones who are suffering though."

"Yes they are, I wish we can change it. Some of them really got too abused, just like that missing back vocal."

"What happened to him?" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"He's in the hospital, I'm not sure since it is still just gossips but apparently he has been beaten up by no other than the visual ."

"Oh, can we visit him? Do you know where he is confined?"

"No. His parents aren't saying anything. They just informed the company that he would be withdrawing because of his condition."

"Oh, I guess at least he won't be in the clutches of our evil company anymore."

"Yeah, at least he probably won't experience any pain from that anymore." Dongwoo replied. "Well, I need to tend to managerial stuffs now."

He walked towards the door, almost leaving until he looked back at me.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you who the one who sang the other part." He asked me.

"It was just some random guy I met who I paid for his silence." I half lied, Sunggyu didn't know where his voice was going to be used. There was no need, he won't stay after Christmas anyway. "Why did you ask?"

I felt bad about it of course, I felt like I am the same as my dad, I had no excuse in what I did. I just hope everything would blow over soon.

"Oh, nothing. I just found something I can't exactly identify with it."

Weird. We have the same impression with it, maybe that something is the fairy-ness of the voice.

"Well then, I'll be going."

The sound of the door closing was enough to wake up Sunggyu from his nap.

"Woohyunnie?" He rubbed his eyes for a bit, cheeks puffed out.

"You slept for hours." I remarked, noting that almost four hours have already passed since he started his nap.

"Oh I didn't sleep very well the past few days." He said sleepily. He didn't accuse me of anything but I knew it was because of our fight.

It's my fault, I shouldn't have walked out just like that.

"Woohyunnie why do you look so serious?" He flew towards my face and poked my nose. "This is nothing, I guess I probably won't sleep that early tonight—I always do whenever I sleep during the day."

"Still."

"It's nothing. I just lost sleep because I was thinking over some things."

I decided to drop the subject, he knew what I was doing in my mind—blaming myself; he seems to be not pleased with that habit.

"Fine."

That night I fell asleep with Sunggyu's soft singing in the air.

I found myself listening to a familiar song in an all too familiar room.

The sound was being brought by a stereo system. Just inside the room across is a guy wearing a printed white shirt matched with ripped jeans.

The guy had caramel brown hair and a slim build. He is singing well but the other judges didn't seem too pleased.

After all, the guy's size is roughly about the size of my hand, and he has white translucent wings fluttering around.

Wait... What?!

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

I woke up from the nonsensical dream as soon as I realized that. Sunggyu was there by my side sleeping soundly.

I looked around for the clock, I woke up a bit too early that I actually had the time to cook a proper breakfast.

Sunggyu woke up some time later, eyes widening at the sight of pancakes drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"We should do something about you blaming yourself." He bluntly said to me during one of the rare times I actually have nothing to do in my office.

"I thought you are a Christmas fairy, not a psychologist." I snorted.

"Well, I can't help but to act like one." He grinned stupidly. "Come on I'm bored Woohyunnie."

"What do you proposed plan of action?" I rolled my eyes, getting used to the intrusive attitude of the fairy.

"Well I'm actually thinking that you should tell me the sappy cause of this habit." He replied.

"That would be long." I said. "Someone can actually barge in anytime and see me talking to no one."

"Shorten it then. Don't worry I'll warn you if I sense someone coming." He snorted, flying and landing directly in front of me, eyes wide with anticipation. Well not that wide but yeah, as wide as he can do.

"Well you know that when you persistently told someone something, they would come to believe it right?"

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"You unlucky child! If you haven't been born then my wife would still be alive!"

It was my mother's seventh death anniversary, my seventh birthday. Instead of a cake and a party kids usually get, there was my father drinking bottles and bottles of alcohol.

CRASH!

My father slammed a bottle on the marble table, pointing the sharp ragged edges directly to me.

"You should just disappear. Bring her back you useless child!"

He is coming towards me with unsteady steps, my body froze at the sight of a sharp object near me.

Someone pulled me out of the scene and locked both of us inside my room, blocking the door with my bed.

It was Boohyun-hyung who just came back from school.

~

"You are the cause of all of this." My father spat out after one night when he met with some business acquaintances. "How many times have I told you guys to hide in your room?"

The meeting didn't end well, my hyung and I accidentally bumped to one of them while holding a glass of milk.

Needless to say, the guy was pissed to see his expensive suit and shoes dirtied up.

Well we were hungry at that time, we didn't eat dinner yet—the meeting dragged until late night.

~

"What the hell is with this kind of grades? Do you think you can get in a good University with this kind of you show?" My father scoffed, I was already next in line as the heir—Boohyun-hyung finally ran away from home. He offered to take me with him but I chose to stay with father after the said man snuck up on Boohyun-hyung's new apartment to take us back. I offered myself to do it, after all the company is directly involved with music.

"Your brother would be so much better in this than you." He scoffed. "If you didn't go sacrifice yourself like that, then he would be forced to accept this and not you, useless brat."

~

"Nam Woohyun! What the hell are you doing here in this company?! First you spend your time in bars and now you audition here? Don't you have any shame?!" My father rubbed his temples in frustration. "Do you know how much I need to pay for those damn reporters to be silent?"

He dragged me to one of the cars he owned.

"You really are useless. I can't believe you are my son. If only the public didn't know your name I would have disowned you right now."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"That's just a summary of it though." I said, glad that no one came in while I was ranting. "There are other issues such as me being friends with Dongwoo who belonged in a lower class."

"That's... sad. You shouldn't let the opinion of others affect you much you know." He said looking at his shirt while in deep thought. "I mean sure you should check if what they are saying is right, if they are then try to improve on it—if you think they are not, then let them be."

"Your opinion on your self is what should be important. Opinions of others isn't that important especially if the bad ones come from one person only." He continued. "Other people will kick you down in the world, you shouldn't add yourself to the ones thinking negatively of you."

"The problem is, my opinion of myself is already the same as my father." I chuckled bitterly.

"Then change it too, model it to a positive one; my opinion and that dino guy's opinion would probably be better to adapt." He replied looking directly at my eyes.

"And what is your opinion on me?" I asked him.

"I think you are lonely. You don't like making friends because you think you will destroy that bond too. But sometimes you wish to have friends that's why you tolerate me and that dino guy." He said. "But still, you are warm inside despite your demeanour. Your words are harsh but most of the time you don't mean it—it is just a defence mechanism against other people who come near you."

A warm feeling spread inside my guts after he finished speaking.

"You got that from my profile didn't you?" I replied weakly as footsteps are clearly heard from outside.

"Sir. Here is the planned concept for the group." My secretary who came in gave me a stack of paper. "The list of songs and the music sheets are there too for approval."

That night, I slept with a small smile on my face.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Mr Nam looks so hot today. If he isn't such a jerk I would so date him." A girl giggled beside her friend. "Can you believe he failed me in my auditions?"

"I know right! But considering his wealth, maybe we should try for a bit." Her friend answered. I passed by them but they didn't know I'm still near them, still inside earshot.

"Mr Nam isn't much of a jerk." Someone mumbled, probably just talking to himself but it came too loud.

"Tch, don't think because you passed in his criteria you have a chance with him." The girl scoffed. "He likes pretty girls, not ugly poor people like him."

The voices are getting softer as I walk away further.

"A-Ani. I don't like him that way." A flustered voice replied. "I'm just grateful I got this contract because of him."

I entered my office without minding the conversation that just happened.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Say Dongwoo, what do you think of me?" I asked my friend, during one of his visits—Sunggyu is dozing off again on my shoulder.

"You? You're nice." He replied simply. "If only more people saw that then you'll have plentiful of friends."

"You are probably the only one who sees that." I scoffed.

"Ani. The staff and the back vocals practically worship you." He chuckled. "Only those conceited visuals don't like you. People are almost wetting their pants for you to take over the company."

"Really? I didn't notice it that much." I replied.

"Well that kind of thinking only came like months ago." Dongwoo said. "Thank those who felt indebted by you."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Sunggyu stop flying around so much." I complained. "I'm trying to concentrate here."

"Then just ignore me." He stuck his tongue at me.

"How would I ignore you if you are always crashing against things?" I groaned, my eyes darting on where he is. "I don't want to be labelled as a fairy abuser."

"Fine." He huffed, his cheeks puffing out and his eyes narrowed at me. "You're no fun Woohyunnie."

Sunggyu flew towards me and sat on my shoulder, near my neck as his hair kind of tickles me.

"Gyu, why are you perched there again?" I asked, noticing that he really liked staying in that area.

"Hmm, because this feels the most comfortable." He reasoned. "We can talk when I'm here without being too loud. Besides, Woohyunnie smells nice so I want to stay here."

"Why would you like how I smell?" I chuckled.

"I don't know, but I do. It's relaxing." He replied and there was no time to answer him as my father just entered my office.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"You're already here. I thought you would still be at your apartment." He said, that's it no 'Hi son, how are you doing?’

"Well I should be, don't I?" I replied. "I mean it is working hours after all."

"Well considering that you usually don't come until lunch, I expected you not to be here." He scoffed.

"Cut to the chase father." I felt Sunggyu stiffen at my tone—probably not liking the sharpness in it. "I mean, please tell me what you want."

"Oh, I'm just informing you of Christmas party on the 24, make sure to bring your brother too. I already said both of you will be there." He said before walking out. "Be at our house at six. Your attires will be there."

I scoffed as soon as he is out of the room.

"That party is one week away, when would we go see your brother? This Saturday?" He asked me. Today is the seventeenth day since I met Sunggyu, exactly one week before Christmas Eve.

"Probably. We'll just go to his restaurant for lunch or so." I replied dreading the upcoming party.

"You don't sound excited." He noted, flying in front of my face again.

"Of course I'm not. That party would be full of snobs." I replied. "Boohyun-hyung and I hate those events."

Sunggyu just nodded understandingly before asking me another question. "Is your hyung like you?"

"What do you mean like me?" I asked because there are a lot of differences and similarities between the two of us.

"Kind and warm, fuzzy and comforting. Just like you." He said. "If Woohyunnie is like that then your hyung should be like that too."

"Oh, hyung is probably more kind than I am." I replied. "You know, you shouldn't base those things in blood relationships, look at my father. Where the hell is the warmth there?"

"Oh. He is warm. He's exactly the same as you." He stated.

What the hell is he saying?!

"I am not like him!" I shouted, taking him by surprise.

He didn't take back what he said though, "You are. You both don't mean what you say—just to drive people away."

"There's no way in hell he doesn't mean it. What kind of father threatens their child's life?" I replied, my fist shaking in anger.

"The person who wants his child to hate him." He said. "A person lost in grief and despair. A person who lost his belief in himself in raising both of you."

"Don't make him seem better than he is!" I gritted my teeth. "I am nothing like him!"

"You are. You even have the same tendencies." He stated.

Without me knowing it, my fist was already where he was, the fairy was sitting on it.

I quickly withdrew my hand, Sunggyu jumping off it.

"Just think of it for a moment." He stated, flying off somewhere.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When I came back home, Sunggyu is still not there.

"Why the hell would I care about where he is." I muttered as I dragged myself to sleep."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"What about her? Don't you like her?" A female voice asked.

"I don't." A male answered. "I already told you I like you."

"Hmm, what should we do then?" The girl asked. "I'll be leaving you in a bit."

"Then I'll wait every year!" The boy said decidedly. "I won't get tired of waiting every year!"

"That won't do." The girl reasoned. "I wouldn't know where I will be next year. You'll forget about me eventually, so I won't be here next year."

"There is no way I'll forget you!" The boy said. "I can't forget you, these past days have been my happiest!"

"Stop that grin! It looks disgusting! I think I'll drown from that grease!"

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

I woke up the next day with Sunggyu snoring beside me in his usual place.

"Where did you go yesterday?" I asked, cutting off the 'I was completely worried about you' part.

"I visited someone." He smiled mysteriously. "Just had a small nice talk with her."

"Her? You know someone from here?" I asked him. "I thought the fairies are reset every year?"

"She's not from here." He said. "She's my predecessor. I took over her duties. Somehow, I knew how to locate her."

"A fairy?" I asked him.

"Yeah. Kind of like that." He replied.

"About that fight yesterday." I said, guilty for nearly harming him.

"That's fine. I should have been more careful with my words." He smiled his usual smile—the one where his eyes will almost disappear completely. "Let's just forget about it completely."

That night, I slept tightly again with the familiarity of Sunggyu staying right beside me.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Yah! Stop crying! You look stupid when you cry!" A voice of another female said, obviously different from the one from last night.

"Shut up! I'm not ugly okay?!" The same male voice replied. "You are way uglier!"

"Sure tell that to yourself! Your face practically drips grease, I can't stand it." The girl replied.

"W-What did you say?" The boy asked, obviously preventing from sobbing.

"Oh . Look, you look cute and charming okay?" The girl said in a panicked voice, the sobs of the boy still continuing. "Yah! I already praised you! Stop crying !"

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Saturday came fast and before we knew it, Sunggyu and I are already in front of the restaurant.

"Woohyun! Come in and take a seat!" Boohyun greeted me as soon as he saw me. He turned towards one of the staff, "I'll take a break!"

He guided me towards a seat near the window. It is snowing outside, everything is starting to be covered by the white snow.

"So what brings you here dongsaeng?" He asked me.

"Father wants us to attend a Christmas party." I replied, waiting for my brother to refuse.

To my surprise he didn't, he looked somber before giving a short nod.

"So what do you want to eat?" He asked me after I gave him the details.

"What do you recommend hyung?" I replied with a question.

"Then, I'll give you today's special." He smiled. "Are you sure you don't want something in particular?"

"SWEETS!" Sunggyu who was sitting on my shoulder suddenly shouted, making me wince a bit.

"Vanilla sundae. Do you have that?" I asked him.

"Yeah." He smiled before standing up to relay our order to the kitchen.

Boohyun came back with our food, the cup of vanilla sundae included.

"Yah, be discreet." I whispered before Sunggyu decides to swoop in and eat the sundae in a very obvious manner.

So there, I proceeded to scoop the sundae eating only half on the spoon before placing it out of sight (under the table) where Sunggyu would eat the other half and finally returning the spoon to the cup to scoop some more.

It looks weird but it's better than having the sundae disappear bit by bit without me touching it. Good thing hyung didn't point my weird actions out.

"Woohyun, did something good happen to you?" My brother suddenly asked, staring at me.

"What gives you the idea hyung?" I replied, the sundae long gone. Sunggyu made me eat dessert before the main dish.

"You seem happier, a bit more mature." He said. "It's subtle, but it's there."

"I don't have any idea on what you're talking about hyung." I replied with a smile.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"What is your judgement of hyung?" I asked Sunggyu.

"He is warm and nice! He also makes good sweets!" He replied, eyes practically sparkling.

I felt a painful tug on my gut as he said that. People tend to like like Boohyun more.

Sunggyu must have noticed or something as he suddenly flied closer to me to kiss my cheeks.

"I like your warmth more though." He admitted in a small voice, looking at anywhere but me. His cheeks are flushed with red, and I felt mine following suit.

That night, I tried sleeping with a thumping heart.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Saranghanda mianhada

Geurae deoneun andoegesseo;

Nan dagagal jagyeok jocha eobseo

Nal saranghaji ma;

There was that familiar voice again, echoing in the practice room as I walk around the company. I recognize the voice but I can’t put a finger on who is singing.

I opened the door for the practice room for a bit and found myself staring at a male who is playing the piano while singing.

The sound of the door opening didn’t go unnoticed though and the guy suddenly stopped playing. He shifted for a bit before turning around to look at me.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Woohyunnie wake up!" Sunggyu shouted right near my ear, almost making me deaf. "I want some food!"

I grunted at the disturbance from my sleep before sitting up to look at him.

"Just get one of the ice cream tubs there!" I replied, still sleepy to bother standing up and leaving the bed.

"But it would be different without you there." He puffed his reddening cheeks out, his thin lips forming a small pout.

Why did he have to be so cute?

I groaned as I stood up, grabbing him up and placing him on my shoulders.

"Seriously, I'm not in the mood for breakfast." I muttered as I walk towards the kitchen to cook. "Do you want waffles?"

"Neh!" He answered, cheering slightly and hovering for a bit to kiss me in the cheek. "Thank you Woohyunnie."

Ughh, the things this fairy named Sunggyu does to me.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The next Monday rolled by and things are getting hectic for the release of the Christmas song for that group.

The three brats seemed pleased with the outcome of the song and is gushing proudly at their selves—excited to be placed on the spotlight.

The song would.be released at December 25, as soon as the clocks hit 12 midnight KST, the audio will be released to the public.

Which means it would coincide with the Christmas party which will take place at Christmas Eve. The event usually lasts until midnight.

December 25, am I missing something about that date?

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"The song is really good. Although it's somehow creepy how one of the voice sounds exactly like his."

"I know right? I get goose bumps listening to it too."

What the hell are they talking about?

I passed by them and went back to my office after going to the restroom.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Thing are so busy that we hardly felt Monday and Tuesday suddenly came, Christmas Eve. We have to go to my father's house right now.

"Sunggyu-yah! Come on let's go." I said, picking up my car keys as Sunggyu practically raced to get towards me.

He is wearing a black suit of his size and he is looking at me smugly again. His hair is styled up and he has this cute proud expression.

"Wait. Where did you get that?" I asked him.

"Well I might as well dress the according to the occasion right?" He replied. "I'm a fairy, of course I can do little things like this."

"You have powers? Why didn't you do anything before then?" I asked him as he promptly sat on my right shoulder again.

"Well I never felt any use to do so." He replied. "Besides, I can only do trivial things such as this."

"Oh, do we have everything we need?" I asked him before heading out to the garage.

"Yes we do since what we need is there at your father's house." He rolled his eyes, as we entered the car.

Oh yeah, my father's house. This will be a long night.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When we reached the house, the servants immediately dressed me and my hyung up—preparing us for the upcoming party.

My brother seemed nervous, he is biting his bottom lip often that I can't help but to think he suddenly acquired a phobia for events like this.

"Relax, they won't eat you there hyung." I laughed a bit. "Most of the people there would be after the money, which is why I'm counting on you to hide me."

"You're right." He smiled for a bit, but his nervousness is still clearly showing.

"Are you okay hyung?" I asked him, he isn't the type to get nervous easily.

"Yeah. I'm just not used to all of these anymore." My brother had a simple life as a chef for the past few years.

"You'll be fine." I replied.

They dressed me up in a white suit, contrasting the colour of Sunggyu's. To even add to the fun, the fairy thought it would be nice to model his suit to mine—copying everything but the colour scheme.

With that, we rode the limousine towards the hall where the party will be held.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The party is as what I expected—boring and full of pretentious snobs. They promptly ignored my brother (he took it as a chance to escape) and came straight towards me, the elderly offering their daughters for a dance.

Of course in the good name of my father I was going to accept.

That is until I felt a cold sensation on my back, I turned around to look at who is giving me that feeling just to find Sunggyu glaring at me.

There is an almost black aura around him, his cheeks are puffed out indignantly and his eyes are forming dangerous slits.

"On a second thought, I don't think that's a good idea." I said in the most polite way I can. "I mean, I can't dance all the lovely ladies here—the time is restrained. I would rather not accept a few beautiful ladies just to have some who won't get a turn. I hope you understand."

They seem to eat the bull I spouted and give me a little space for breathing.

I looked at Sunggyu who suddenly turned his head away, flying somewhere else.

He is obviously sulking so I decided to follow him out in the gardens.

"Gyu, what's the matter why are you ignoring me?" I asked him once we are out of earshot of people.

The said fairy didn't react at all.

"Sunggyu. Stop ignoring me." I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not ignoring you." He replied suddenly.

He can't get more obvious.

"Gyu are you jealous?" I asked him, chuckling for a bit.

"No I'm not! I'm a fairy, you're a human. Why would I be jealous?" He asked me as if the most basic thing on Earth.

Oh right... we are not of the same kind.

"I was just a bit irked when you called them lovely." He admitted, looking away from me.

His cheeks are flushed red again as he tried to look at everywhere but me.

Cute.

"You are jealous, admit it." I further.

"I'm not." He scoffed. "Are you stupid?"

"Well then, I guess I'll go back inside." I replied and he promptly tensed. "I think I should at least dance one pretty lady for the night."

A growling sound suddenly echoed in the air, the cold black aura of Sunggyu back again.

"You don't dare." He enunciated each word slowly.

Yet he denies being jealous.

"I'm just kidding. You're too easy to tease Gyu." I laughed as his glaring finally softened before coming back as intense as before.

"Are you messing with me Nam Woohyun?" He replied darkly. I can practically put a signage of 'Evil Fairy' on him.

"You're just too cute Gyu." I attempted to pat his hair. "Just admit you're jealous."

"I'm not, okay?!"

"Sure."

"Arghhh."

"Cute."

"Yah! Shut up."

"But why won't you admit it." I stepped closer to him, his face directly in front of mine.

"Because we can't, okay?" He sighed desperately. "We don't belong to each other, we can't. We are not the same, it's ridiculous. I am the size of your hand."

"What we have isn't based on physical affection." I argued.

"Still it's hopeless." He replied.

"Why do you think so?" I asked, genuinely confused.

"Because in a few moments, I'll be gone." He replied. "I'll be gone and you'll forget about this."

December 25, that's what I forgot about it.

"I'll really forget?" I asked, my voice cracked. "How will I forget about those days? It's impossible—why would I forget the time when I'm happy?"

"You will. I'm pretty sure of it." Sunggyu replied. "The fairy Kim Sunggyu will be erased from your mind forever."

"Kim... Sunggyu?" I asked him. "Since when did you have a surname?"

Kim Sunggyu... weird...

"Since years ago." He laughed slightly—a sad laugh. "I only remembered a few days back. When I went out to visit my mother."

"What are you saying? It doesn't make any sense." I was confused on what he is pointing out.

"I have a feeling that it will soon." He said. "You will realize what I'm saying later."

The music from the party seem to go on a stop. A voice rang out, the voice of my father making some sort of an announcement.

I looked at the clock. 11:55 pm

"I'm getting sleepy Woohyunnie." Sunggyu suddenly said, his figure becoming a bit translucent.

"No." I panicked, I grabbed him from the air, trying to feel him—but he hardly weighs now. "No, you can't leave with unanswered questions. You can't leave me all alone."

"I have too." He smiled sadly. "My time is nearly up. I'll leave soon, don't worry you'll forget about it."

"That doesn't make it better." I shouted, desperation on making him stay taking over my body. "I'll rather remember everything and have a chance in seeing you again than forgetting everything."

"True. That would be better." He replied. "But still, there's no guarantee we'll meet again. Heck, I don't even know if I'll ever wake up."

"Wake up?" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "What the hell will happen to you if you disappear?"

"I'll go back to where I belong to." He said, getting more and more transparent. "You can say this is my first and last mission as a fairy."

His words puzzled me more. I can't seem to get it, fairies are supposed to be reset each year right?

"This is the only mission suited for me. Woohyunnie is my one and only target in my fairy life." He smiled slightly. "After all, the personality profile doesn't exist at all—fairies don't go in random missions with strangers."

The clock chimed as the Christmas song suddenly started playing in the background.

Sunggyu suddenly chuckled. "No, I phrased it wrong. It's supposed to be ‘Fairies don't exist after all'.

With that, the weight on my hands suddenly vanished and I'm holding thin air.

"Sunggyu!"

He is gone, but the weird thing is...

I did not forget.

I was back inside the hall, listening to his voice—trying to push down the tears which is attempting to flow from my eyes.

Sunggyu is gone.

I tried to wrap my mind around the fact that the fairy who have annoyed me, made me smile and laugh, is gone.

Bastard. You lying bastard.

I balled my fists, slightly shaking as my fingernails dig on the skin of my palm.

Sunggyu... Sunggyu is gone...

I barely had the time to listen to my voice when the song was suddenly cut off.

Police suddenly entered the hall, making everyone inside panic.

What the hell is going on?

The officers went directly in front of the trainee who I promptly named as Mr Pretty Guy.

"You are under arrest for physical assault against Mr Kim Sunggyu." One of the officers said, showing the warrant to the guy.

Kim Sunggyu.

I felt my body go numb at the name.

It couldn't be... right?

"What the hell is happening? I don't even know who the hell Kim Sunggyu is." The guy said, struggling out of the grasp of the officer.

"What a pity." Dongwoo suddenly said. "You don't even know the name of the guy you stole your voice from?"

"I don't have any idea on what you are saying!" The guy shouted. "You ty manager what are you doing?!"

Suddenly a familiar voice rang through the speakers—Sunggyu's voice.

A projector was showing a video of a male with caramel brown hair, narrow eyes and squishy cheeks singing.

It was Sunggyu in human size, his white translucent wings gone.

There is also something else I can't put my finger on.

~

"Oh, nothing. I just found something I can't exactly identify with it."

Weird. We have the same impression with it, maybe that something is the fairy-ness of the voice.

~

"The song is really good. Although it's somehow creepy how one of the voice sounds exactly like his."

"I know right? I get goose bumps listening to it too."

What the hell are they talking about?

I found myself listening to a familiar song in an all too familiar room.

The sound was being brought by a stereo system. Just inside the room across is a guy wearing a printed white shirt matched with ripped jeans.

The guy had caramel brown hair and a slim build. He is singing well but the other judges didn't seem too pleased.

~

~

The guy has caramel brown hair, narrow eyes and cute squishy cheeks. It is Kim Sunggyu, one of the back vocals I passed during the auditions.

People are starting to gossip around, looking badly at the guy's direction and my father.

"I always knew their idols don't really sing their own songs."

"Tch, this will be the end of their company."

"Liar Company!" A guy shouted. "You guys are nothing! I bet the others did the same thing too! Fakes!"

"Uhmm about that..." My father tried to speak.

"It's true." Boohyun finally showed up again. "There are many fake idols under the company."

"What are you doing Nam Boohyun?!" My father asked, obviously enraged.

"I'm just telling the truth." Boohyun said. "Dongwoo is an example, I knew him for years, and I know that he is the one rapping in that audio— not that snob kid under his management."

"Nam Boohyun stop this madness." My father gritted his teeth.

"You even used your son's voice in this dirty business?" My brother scoffed. "You didn't want him to become a singer yet you use him as a back vocal?"

"You liar! Step down from the company!" An employee of the company shouted.

"We had enough of your oppression!" Another one said.

Everybody pitched in their complaints—the party turned out to a mess.

"Sir, we have a problem. The families of the back vocals sued the company. The public is having a blast and people are announcing a boycott on our artists' products." The company's lawyer rushed in, informing my father.

"All right ungrateful bastards!" My father shouted. "I'll step down and watch this company fall to the ground. Let me see you try managing this piece of . You people won't even last for a day."

With that my father stormed out of the hall. People are looking at me expectantly and my brother mouthed a 'go for it'.

On December 25, I suddenly became the CEO of the company.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"The entire thing is a play." My brother told me as the limousine drove us back to our father's house.

"What?" I asked him. "How is this a play?"

"You'll see." He replied. "Just ask father, we're here anyways.

I rushed out of the car, running straight to my father's study which is surprisingly open. With a bit of hesitation, I stepped inside the room.

My father looked tired, his wrinkles deep and his hair greyer than ever.

"You might want to sit down, this will be a long discussion." He said, pointing to the seat near the window.

"What happened earlier? Why did hyung said it is a play?"

"Because it is exactly how it is, everything was planned." He explained. "From the arrest to the protest and he suing of the back vocals."

"You knew?" I asked him. "You knew this will happen?"

"Of course, this way I get to pay for my sins while giving you the company." He replied. "I made the system out of greed, I didn't know I'll hurt someone important along with it."

I only stared at him, letting him continue.

"I never knew it will harm someone I knew." He sighed. "Or rather, the son of someone I knew—the son of my first love."

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

"Your mother isn't the first one to grab my heart." My father said. "It was someone incredible, someone who got annoyed by my smile, someone who accompanied me for 25 days—a girl with the size of my hand."

"What...?"

"I know it is hard to believe but it's true." He replied. "I met her in December 1, barging into my house. She is a—"

"A Christmas Fairy." I said and he stared at me. "She is a Christmas Fairy."

"How... did the same thing happen to you?" He asked me, I did not reply and he took it as a yes. “Sunggyu came this year as your fairy?”

I just nodded blankly, my mind going back to Sunggyu.

I suspected so.” He said, smiling for a bit. “You have changed these past few weeks, I bet he really did a number on you.”

Did you know him personally?” I asked my father who looked fond of the matter.

Yeah.” He replied. “I was looking at the background of the new trainees when I saw her mother’s name in his bio-data.”

His mother was your fairy?” I asked him, connecting my dream days ago—the one with a boy talking to a girl who was leaving soon. “Then it was mother who comforted you after she left?”

How did you know?” He furrowed his eyebrows.

Dreams, I dreamt about it.” I replied. “I had so many dreams these past few weeks, most of them were involving Sunggyu’s human personality. I never remembered fully until he was gone though, for some reason.”

That’s because you aren’t supposed to know who they are until they are gone.” My father explained. “Sunggyu’s mother was the senior I had a crush on who got into an accident. I forgot about her real identity until she was done in being a fairy. Your mother was my best friend who stayed with me since childhood.”

Sunggyu’s mother… she recovered right? Seeing that she still bore a child.” I asked my father. “Did you meet her again after the incident?”

No. Her family moved her back to Jeolla.” My father shook his head. “I never heard about her until Sunggyu got accepted in the company. However, it was too late by then.”

Dad...”

She died in a natural way though, she always had a weak heart so all the years of stress finally took toll on her.” He continued. “Their family is juggling through works to live. Sunggyu had to do many side jobs to try to pay his mother’s hospital bills. Which is why he treats the contract with the company a blessing, at least he’ll be able to earn more money soon.”

If I only had acted, I was willing to place him in the normal trainees but he was persistent in refusing.” My father sighed. “He had to endure all the horrible things that happens to the back vocals.”

That is why I decided to orchestrate this—stepping down to accommodate someone who will be understanding in the frustrations of the trainees.” He continued. “It was your mother who was in love with music after all, not me. She was the understanding one, losing her made me a horrible person, a horrible father for both of you two. I don’t even deserve being your father.”

"Oh.

"You are. You even have the same tendencies." He stated

You… i-is this the reason why you always push us away?” I asked him and he just nodded. “Why you try to make us hate you?”

I was afraid that I’ll mess both of you two up. That you’ll be the same as me—a bad person.” He replied. “It cost a lot of pain but it worked in the end anyway, you’re both better than I am now.”

I’m not. Sunggyu said I’m like you.” I replied, seeing the similarities between him and me. “Sunggyu said we blame ourselves too much.”

My father just laughed at that. “Yeah, we really do.”

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The hospital is stark white, the smell of disinfectants is heavy in the air. On the bed is a man with caramel brown hair, narrow eyes and cute squishy cheeks. There is bandages all over his body and the beeping of the machine beside him is steady.

His father accepted my help in dealing with the hospital bills after a few tries—finally making him agree when I told him my full name. It seemed that Sunggyu talked about me whenever he is at home.

The people were upset at the discovery, but nonetheless, they continued to support the company under the new CEO. The back vocals are finally put to the spot light, taking the place of the fake visuals that used their voice—some even managed to have their own solo career.

Of course there were people who were upset in having their biases gone, boycotting the group once and for all. But the increase in support for the group after the revelations outweighed those who stopped supporting.

The old CEO of the company was sentenced guilty and was brought in for a few years in jail. He never got lonely though since his sons visits him whenever they have time.

There is one thing everybody was waiting for though—the debut of the group where the CEO was in. It was postponed for obvious reasons though, the leader is still asleep on his white bed.

If only he wakes up soon. I miss his annoying presence.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The weather outside is cold, snow is falling down constantly, covering everything outside in white. Inside a certain hospital in a certain room, exactly one year after the man on the bed said his goodbye, a finger from the said man moved.

His eyes cracked open and he stared at the ceiling for a while before looking to his left where the peaceful sleeping face of a man with tan skin, straight nose and plump lips is resting.

Woohyunnie. Wake up. I’m hungry.”

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞-

Bonus:

Years Later

The sheets are tangled together, messed up by the two figures currently sleeping on the bed. The dark haired man is lying on his back, without any clothes. Wrapped around his arms is the slim waist of a brown haired man who is lying on top of him—stark too and only covered by the thick blanket for winter.

His breathing is steady as it can be as air is puffed out from his thin pouty lips. The warm breath goes directly to the crook of the neck of the dark haired man but he doesn’t mind it at all. He is already used with the brown haired man snuggling closer to him, burying his face on his neck which he likes the most.

A/N: Ughh sorry if this is crappy and nonsensical. I was about to redo everything but I had no time left. /shoots himself. Sorry again.

StarlightSpirit: Are You kidding? This was absolutely amazing – fluffy without being too much and cute but the story is well fleshed out and meaningful and the Woogyu feels are just... wow... This is amazing :)
