After watching the snowy sky after a bit, the three of them decided to walk Sungjong home. It was a bit late, so all of them were a bit too tired to talk about anything. After reaching the steps to Sungjong’s house, Sunggyu and Myungsoo looked at each other before waving and smiling at Sungjong before he shouted a goodbye, while closing the door to his house. The two of them turned around after the warm goodbye to their loved one and continued to walk on the sidewalk to their own home. Their breaths could be seen in the cold air and both wore heavy coats to keep themselves warm with a scarf wrapped around their neck. Sunggyu had his hands in his coat pocket as Myungsoo had gloves on. It was quite comforting silence between the two, before they parted ways to their own home. When the clock read 1:00AM that’s when Sunggyu decided to sleep and took a quick glance at his calendar before mumbling, “Just 11 more days until my confession.” As Myungsoo checked his phone once more and smiled to himself as he then looked at his lock screen with the three of them on there, he spoke softly, “Just 11 more days until he’s mine.”

 

Now only 9 days were left until that special Christmas day and everyone had all their presents wrapped and sent to everyone special to them for the holidays, while children waited eagerly until 9 days later would be the day to open those precious gifts. But who knew this day would end up to be one of the worst for the three friends? Sunggyu, Myungsoo, and Sungjong were walking to the mall in the morning light with the skies bright blue with clouds as the snow slowed down, but piles of it were still on the sidewalk. As they looked both ways and made sure to look to see the sign said that they had 30 seconds to walk, the crowd of people walked in front of them, while they were the last ones to walk, while the sign counted down to 10. 9...8...7...6…

 

The three were still crossing behind the large group of people as a car was speeding quickly and crashed into the car in front of it. 5...4...3… Sungjong froze at the sound as each other the cars in front bumped into one another as the surprised drivers would step their foot on the gas. 2… Sunggyu and Myungsoo quickly looked at each other and threw a message at each other that they knew what it was by instinct. To get Sungjong to safety. 1… That’s when Sungjong was quickly pushed into Myungsoo’s arms as the two were just an inch away from the accident, where the first car drove forward and crashed into a body which lied lifelessly in the middle of the road. Police sirens could be heard as someone dialled 9-1-1 after seeing the terrible sight, while the ambulance came to pick up the body on the stretcher as it drove away quickly to the hospital as more came to care to the line of car accidents before the car to person contact happened. It was terrible as Myungsoo stood their with wide eyes as they slowly walked to the other side of the sidewalk with Sunjong in his arms with tears in his eyes as he continued to stare at the spot where the body was as he walked.

 

Later that day, the boys finally made it back to Sungjong’s home after trying to get a visit to the patient, but with failure since the doctor said the patient was in severe condition and needed at least 2 to 3 days of rest before visitors could come. Myungsoo sighed softly as Sungjong was squeezing his hand tightly as they tried their hardest to get in, but would have a long 48 hour wait. Sungjong eyes were still tearful and it broke Myungsoo’s heart that the younger was crying and that he was slowing losing in this battle. Sunggyu wasn’t with the two, but he was the one that was the victim of the accident and what they heard from the doctor was that he was in critical condition with a broken leg, arm and a head injury that required surgery. Too see Sungjong like this meant that he cared about his hyung a lot to cry his heart out. As Myungsoo hugged the younger as a tear escape his eye as well, it was just a heart breaking tragedy that happened just 9 days before Christmas.

 

4 days later, with only 5 more days until Christmas, they finally arrived at the hospital as Sungjong was the one dragging Myungsoo into the patient’s room and they smiled softly to see their hyung reading in bed comfortably with a leg cast on and an arm cast and luckily the surgery wasn’t anything too complicated so it was alright. Sungjong quickly ran over and plucked the book out of Sunggyu’s hand, while Myungsoo was talking to the doctor. The doctor told them that he would be alright and that Sunggyu was lucky enough to survive with broken bones and nothing else. Myungsoo nodded and smiled at the doctor as the doctor nodded and patted his shoulder before walking away.  

 

 

So after that, Myungsoo and Sungjong visited everyday to see Sunggyu and they would do all kinds of things like read, watch tv, talk about random things, and well do things that best friends would do together. Myungsoo had notice a special connection between Sunggyu and Sungjong as he knew that they were falling for each other, while he was just the best friend. He sighed quietly and smiled to cover up his heartbreak and checked that today, marked Christmas Eve and he knew that on Christmas Day he would give up his heart to sacrifice for another. He’s letting go of Sungjong for his injured hyung. He saw that connection between them and how they acted like more than best friends should act. He smiled slightly and waited for the next day to come.

 

The next day it was only Sungjong that visited since he knew that Myungsoo had to stay behind for something at the hospital at night. He casually walked into Sunggyu’s room and sat in a chair next to Sunggyu, who looked at him with slightly sad smile.

 

“Hey…” He whispered to Sungjong as the younger blinked and smiled as he replied cheerful with a “Hello.” Sungjong asked Sunggyu about the whereabouts of Myungsoo as Sunggyu bit his lip and held Sungjong’s hand.

“H-He will come soon I promise.” Sunggyu said softly as he played with Sungjong’s hand and smiled as they wished each other a Merry Christmas and laughed at how they have to spend it in a hospital room.

 

Myungsoo looked through the window slightly as he saw the two and tapped on the glass as the other two looked up. He played a disc which was by this popular boy band that caught Sungjong’s eye which was Infinite (cough cough jk) it was their song, Be Mine. As the song played he held up small posters, while Sungjong and Sunggyu read them one by one. The message he sent through so many posters was :

 

 

Sunggyu and Sungjong laughed and nodded as they shared a quick peck while making it official as Myungsoo gathered up his things and waved from the window before moving down and 10 minutes later, he had arrived at the door. They simply smiled at each other, the three of them. Myungsoo knew he’d be okay now, he waved slightly before telling them that he was getting something to drink. Along in the hallway was a tall boy that was walking quickly and bumped into him slightly. He quickly apologized and took a quick second to look at Myungsoo, before he smiled and walked off again. Well Myungsoo thought, maybe he’ll find love soon or later, just maybe…

 

A few months later, after Sunggyu had gotten better and he left his cast behind, they sat peacefully in the park with a new additional to the group of friends, which was Sungyeol. They laughed at his jokes and talked around things as Sungjong leaned his head against Sunggyu’s shoulder, as Myungsoo smiled a lot. Sunggyu was talking to Sungyeol about how to not tease about him that he wasn’t a grandpa. Sungyeol was the boy that had bumped into Myungsoo at the hospital and they had gotten in touch again after Sungyeol came back after seeing his brother in the hospital. That’s when the two really talked and Myungsoo decided to invite him to visit Sunggyu and that’s when the friendship started to happen.

 

Now Myungsoo thought about how he was okay, that Christmas was about giving and he felt good to see a good ending come out for Christmas. But now winter is over and he is looking in the season of spring, where his spring love would start unlike Sunggyu’s and Sungjong’s winter one.
