Let's Begin, Shall We?
Memories of Her.
Hyoyeon sighed and put a hand to her head.
"Alright..." She said almost inaudibly. "I'll help..." A wide smile spread across Ambers face as she
threw her arms around Hyoyeon.
"ThankyouThankyouThankyou!" She cried. "I promise we'll keep you safe; it just wouldn't be as
efficient if I were the only one relaying potions. It would take too long without my powers, ya know?"
Hyoyeon nodded, her head spinning. "Ok, according to the paper Lay gave me with their plan; they
should be here tomorrow at 10:00 am. Lay will probably be a little tired still from healing everyone
so it's our first job to let him rest a little while the others fight. Although it will be difficult for
everyone - Their objective is to kill the enemy. This is the only way to ensure the safety of both earth
and EXO Planet."
"So wait, how are we meant to protect Lay?" Hyoyeon asked, walking over to a nearby chair and sitting
down. "We're... As you would say: 'mortals'." Amber followed her and sat on a chair opposite her.
"We're really just lookouts. My friend Luhan is a telekinetic; he's going to stay near us and if we see
any enemies, we'll use the telepathic link to tell him. He'll basically use his powers to pick them up and
fling them away or trap them." Amber replied. Hyoyeon nodded. "Everyone knows you're helping,
and everyone is extremely grateful."
"I should be the one who's grateful." Hyoyeon replied. "These powerful guardians are laying their lives
down for me - a mere human whom they don't even know. I almost can't wait to meet them."
"I only wish it were under better circumstances." Amber said lowly.
~*~*~
You awoke that morning fueled with ambition, your blood pumping spiritedly through your veins. You had
witnessed and EXO war once before and knew what to expect now. Through your training and experience
you could confidently say that you were definitely battle ready. You had mastered techniques and abilities
you had never thought possible, and now it was time to show it off. You were nothing like the weak girl
you had been during the last war.
"You ready?" A voice asked from your door. It was Kris. "We're preparing the portal soon." You nodded
curtly and he exited, leaving you to look at yourself in the mirror. Your hair was braided against your head,
your silver rose locket safe around your neck, and you wore camouflage gear with a small bag that contained
medicinal equipment. The bag was standard for everyone - strapped to their belt for easier carrying - but your
clothing was specifically yours. It was tougher than normal fabric yet still lighter than air, it was waterproof
and its colours blended into the surroundings. Your shirt was sleeveless and skin-tight, your pants slightly
baggier so it was easier to stretch out in them. Although you were now skilled in hand-to-hand combat thanks
to Tao, it was still dangerous around beings of such intense power when your abilities were aid-type and not
offense-type. This was why you would be positioned high in the trees of the forest you were to fight in. You
would act like a sniper, your only weapon your eyes and a few small stones. Suho had made your role in this
battle very clear. You would attract the enemies attention by throwing the stone near their feet. When they
looked up you were to make eye contact with them and use your new single-target technique to make them
angry at the rest of their members rather than EXO Planet. It was a smaller branch power of your 'wrath' ability.
The door creaked open and your ears perked up.
"I'll be out soon Kris." You said casually, and felt two arms wrap around your waist. You smiled at the contact
as Lay rested his chin on your shoulder.
"You look beautiful." He said dazedly. "You always do." You turned around to face in, still in his arms and
wrapped yours around him too.
"I missed you so much." You said quietly, inhaling his scent. Lay kissed your cheek tenderly.
"I know." He couldn't return the phrase because he didn't remember you for a while. He still felt guilt about it.
Instead he returned something else. "I love you."
"I love you too." You whispered in return.
"Come on." Lay's voice was soft. "Let's go save the universe." He held your hand in his and lead you out the
door to where the other members were waiting in the meeting room. You said a silent goodbye to EXO and
the other members in your head. It was just in case. One should never be too confident. These enemies, you
had been told, were stronger than EXO and ENDO combined.
Just like the first time but now with Ren as well, the guardians all stood in a circle, linking themselves with
each other so that they would all be teleported with Kai.
"Everyone is familiar with the plan?" Suho asked. Everyone nodded. You ran it though your mind once more.
When you arrive, Lay was to stay at the arrival point while the others got into position. Each member would
pair up with the other half of their attack formation and go to their allocated space within either the inner or
outer ring around the centre where supplies, injured guardians and our relayers will be with Lay. HUNHAN
would stay nearer the centre whilst the inner ring would consist of XIUCHEN in the North, KAISOO in the
West, TAESUL in the East, and TAORIS in the South. These formations are defense based, so they can hold
off anyone who tries to get past. In the Outer circle we will have the offense based formations. MINSTAL will
be in the North, the newly formed attack formation of RENKEY will be in the East, ONTORIA will be in the
South and BAEKYEOL in the West. As for Jonghyun and Luna, they will be the status reporters for Suho, who
will be the battle strategist and also act as a last resort of defense for the relayers and Lay. You will be positioned
opposite HUNHAN on the other side of the centre. You will be in a high tree and therefore able to fulfill your
mission without flaw. Thanks to Taemin, a mental link will be established between you and the relayers in case
of severe energy depletion. That was it. Everything had been almost programmed into you and you knew the plan
well. Although you didn't know who the enemy were, you were sure you would find out the hard way.
"Then let's go." Kai's voice broke you from your thoughts, and it almost scared you a little. In all your time here
not once had you heard Kai's voice not only sound so cold and determined, so brave and serious... But also so
full of undertoned fear. As the smoke curled around all of you, you heard Suho cry "EXO Saranghaja!" And
realized that each person here knew full well that this was quite possibly the last time they would ever see their
home, their friends, and for some their brother - ever again.
~*~*~
"They're coming." Yongguk mumbled. "I can feel it." Kyuhyun nodded.
"Me too. There's a group of energy moving toward the forest 50 kilometres out of town to the North East." He
replied. "I saw we throw them a welcoming party, what do you think?" Yongguk laughed bitterly.
"Yeah. I think it'd be a real surprise." Youngjae stared out the window, ignoring the talk everyone else was having.
One earphone rested in his left ear as he listened to a soft, jazzy song. It was an overcast day but still bright,
small pieces of blue sky struggling through the thick cloud. All he could think of was how this mission no matter
how much the others planned was a failure. They had been alerted by a machine they had put in place before they
left that all life on Mato had ceased. The machine measured life energy, and it had stopped working 24 hours ago
after sending it's final reading - 0. Youngjae wasn't happy about it, but still chose to accept that they had failed
and that there was nothing in it for them to continue that which they had already used up all their time on.
"Be prepared for this." said Kyuhyun. "Although we are far stronger than them, they outnumber us - and now
they have a medic too." Everyone nodded, some slower than others.
"Youngjae, listen up!" Yongguk slapped the back of his friends head to break him from his daze. Youngjae
removed the earpiece and looked at his friend. "If you keep going off in a daze then you'll die first in battle.
Forget Zelo, he's a traitor-"
"He's not a traitor!" Youngjae raised his voice for the first time.
"Well then fight for his honour!" Yongguk yelled back, equally as powerful. There was a short silence where no
one dare spoke. "He died on this mission Youngjae, are you gonna let his life and his efforts go to waste? Either
you forget the little traitor or if you're too stupid to do that then fight for him!" Youngjae took a deep breath and nodded.
"Alright." He said quietly. "Let's not waste Zelo's efforts." Kyuhyun smiled smugly and turned to walk out the door.
"We haven't got much time until they arrive. Let's get going."
Youngjae left the earpiece out of his ear this time. He was too fired up for battle to even think about calming jazz music.
