Friendship.
Memories of Her.
They went to town that day, just the four of them. They truly were inseparable, if one did something, they all would.
Lay was getting money from an unknown source. Each week a mysterious envelope would appear outside his door
with an adequate amount of money for living and leisure inside. He had left a note outside his door a few times
thanking the person for their charity and helpfulness. It always made him wonder who knew so much about him, and
they they wouldn't stay to see him, to tell him everything he had forgotten.
~*~*~
"Did you send the money for this week?" Kai rolled over in his bed, lazily nodding at Suho who stood with the door
wide open. Kai shivered as the cold air hit his bare back, making him raise his arm and flap it about to tell Suho to shut
the door.
"Alright, have a good sleep." Suho smiled, closing the door as he left. Suho had arranged for Kai to teleport money to
Lay on earth once every week for living costs, and a little extra for himself. He knew Lay would never be able to get a
job, if he even knew what one was. Of course on EXO everything for the guardians was free.
Later when Kai got up at 1pm and after he had a shower, he shuffled down the hallway to the foyer, still only wearing
a towel around his waist. As you and Ren walked around the corner, you let out a startled squeal before throwing the
nearest object to you at Kai, Ren protectively covering your eyes.
"Put some clothes on!" you yelled. Kai growled and grumpily removed the towel you had thrown at him from his face.
"You know, things were a lot easier before we had two girls living in the house!"
"Yah! How many times do I have to tell you, I'm a man!" Ren yelled, throwing another towel from the open linen closet
beside you. Kai caught this one and threw it back, before one of the butlers cleared his throat.
"If the young masters are finished their 'towel-battle' for the young mistress, I would highly suggest not messing up the
house more than it already is." Kai opened his mouth in protest, but was silenced by the butler again. "And master Kai,
your duck-print pajama bottoms have been dry cleaned as requested." Kai stood with mouth agape as the butler handed
Kai a pair of fluffy, blue pajama pants with yellow rubber ducks printed on them.
"This was supposed to be in secret!" Kai whispered harshly, shooting the butler a killer glare as he walked past
victoriously. You let out a small laugh, a grin covering your face.
"Rubber Ducks..?" You asked with a laugh. He frowned and shot you a dangerous look.
"You'd better not tell anyone." He glared. "Anyway, have you guys seen Suho?" You and Ren looked at each other and then
Kai, shaking your heads.
"Why?" Ren asked, tilting his head to the side slightly.
"When I dropped the money off this morning, Lay left another thank you note." Kai replied, holding a small piece of
paper in between his thumb and fore finger.
"Can I see it?" You asked, almost instantly. Kai nodded and gave you the note, you taking it gently from his hands. Your
heart beat rapidly as you unfolded it. Although the note had nothing to do with you, it was still a communique from him,
something that gave you hope.
"Dear who?"
It began.
"I wouldn't know, you've never told me your name.
Thank you again for the money, I don't know what I'd do without you.
Please feel free to stay next time. I want to meet you and ask you some questions.
You know things about me that I don't...
Thank you again!
From Lay."
Signed with a cute little drawing of curly haired Lay. You felt a warm smiled come over your lips, and before you knew
it, gentle tears glid softly down your cheeks. You missed him, and that was an understatement. Ren bent down to look
you in the eyes, wiped your tears with his thumbs and smiled at you. You smiled back to reassure him that you were ok,
and gave Kai back the note. Even Kai looked sympathetic towards you, giving a concerned smile.
"Why don't you stay and tell him about us?" You asked. "He could regain his memories and come back to EXO." Kai
shook his head.
"He wouldn't remember though. He would be told the truth and believe it, but he wouldn't have any memories of what
we were telling him. He still wouldn't know who any of us were." Kai said sadly. "Even if he did remember, he would
have to get his powers back before living on EXO again. Humans can't live on EXO, same as how we can't live on earth.
The chemical build-up of the atmosphere is too different on our planet - we need it to be for us to sustain our powers and
the tree of life." You nodded, looking down at your feet.
You still remembered when you had gone to earth a few days ago to see Lay at his new house, bumping into him on the
street. You had run straight to the portal after that and into Luhan's arms, crying and shaking your head.
"He doesn't remember me..." You cried. "He didn't even seem like he knew me!" Luhan knew he had gotten your hopes up.
It was wrong of him, but he hated seeing you so down about Lay. He thought if you could see him one last time... Luhan
closed the portal and rubbed your back soothingly, gently shushing you. It was later that day that you realized you had left
your rose locket behind.
~*~*~
Ryeowook and Kyuhyun walked in front while Lay and Hyoyeon hung at the back as they made their way through the
crowd in the shopping mall.
"So what exactly are we doing out today?" Lay asked, staring off into the distance.
"I don't know, I think Ryeowook wanted to buy a new shirt or something... He probably wants our opinion." Hyoyeon
replied.
"It's not like he needs it, he has the best fashion sense out of anyone I know!" Lay laughed.
"Only because I want to look nice!" Ryeowook called back. "Oh, it's this shop!" Ryeowook turned suddenly, taking the
other three by surprise as they almost lost their balance trying to turn around.
The shop summed Ryeowook up as a person. It was a high fashion, luxury store full of things no one could ever dream of
affording, but because Ryeowook's parents were wealthy and currently living in Gangnam, he could afford anything and
everything with 'donations' from his parents to their only son. Lay was careful as he walked past racks of expensive silk
shirts, afraid to so much as touch anything in the store in case it decided to somehow spontaneously combust. Ryeowook
took a few shirts off the rack in a carefree way, slinging them over his left arm as he sauntered towards the changing rooms.
The lady at the counter waved as he walked past. She had obviously seen him here a few times before. Kyuhyun stood
with his arms folded, checking him appearance in the large mirror at the end of the changing rooms.
"You done yet?" he called, to which the reply was the curtain being pushed aside by a grinning Ryeowook.
"What do ya think?" he chimed, holding his arms out and spinning around. Kyuhyun face-palmed and groaned.
"Please don't do that, you're a man!" he sighed. "Or you're supposed to be." Ryeowook pouted and looked up at Kyuhyun.
"You don't like the shirt?" he asked.
"No, the shirt looks good, ok? Just don't twirl... That's not very masculine." The boy's eyes lit up and he began to grin again.
"The shirt looks good?" He asked. "I'll take it!" Ryeowook threw his hands in the air and ran back into the changing rooms
to put his shirt back on.
"What's wrong with that kid..?" Kyuhyun asked, rolling his eyes and turning to Lay and Hyoyeon. The latter shrugged, still
cautious to their surroundings.
"I think he's just hyper." Lay replied.
"Really hyper." Hyoyeon added.
"All the time." Kyuhyun grinned, earning a laugh from the two others. Ryeowook came out from the changing room with his
shirt, a light pink dress shirt with black buttons, and walked towards the counter pulling out his credit card.
"Hello Ryeowook-ssi." The woman at the counter greeted. "Are those your friends?" Ryeowook pinked slightly and nodded.
"What are they talking about?" Hyoyeon asked, frowning. All she could see was Ryeowook going red and the women giving
their group excited looks every now and then. She looked up at Kyuhyun and smiled before excitedly chatting to Ryeowook
again.
"Who knows..." Lay replied.
"Do you think she has a thing for Kyu?" Hyoyeon replied, a smile growing on her face as she looked up to the boy. Kyuhyun
rolled his eyes and blew a raspberry.
"Even if she did, it looks like our little Wookie already has his eyes on her." he said with a cool smirk, watching as Ryeowook
looked away from the the girl shyly, his face red as a beet.
"Oh, you're right! Look at him!" Hyoyeon let out an excited giggle, which ended up catching Ryeowook's attention and
causing him to come over.
"What's so exciting, guys?" he asked. Hyoyeon tried to hide her smile.
"Oh nothing." Lay said calmly. Kyuhyun elbowed Ryeowook once they were out of the shop.
"So when are you gonna make your move?" he asked with a smirk. Ryeowook's face shot red again as his heart began to
beat rapidly. He looked up at Kyuhyun with a dry mouth. "She seemed into you too, you know. That shopkeeper lady."
Ryeowook's face dropped a little, forcing a smile as he laughed.
"It's not like that..." he whispered, but no one heard.
~*~*~
That night he dreamt of the mystery girl, but the dream almost seemed too real to be something subconscious. It was as if
he really had lived it before.
"7...7...6...6." Lay read aloud, calmly at first, but when he realized what the code meant he began to panick slightly.
"What's wrong?" She asked, putting a gentle arm on his shoulder. Lay quickly turned around and wrapped his arms tightly
around her, pulling her closer to his rapid heartbeat.
"You're gonna have to be brave, ok?" Lay whispered, hiding his face in her hair.
"Why?" She asked, starting to get nervous. "Has something happened? Is everyone ok?" Lay took a deep breath and
sighed, not breaking his tight embrace. "What does 7766 mean?" She asked. Lay moved smoothly to kiss her, a slow
and loving kiss that re-assured her that everything would be ok. She relaxed into Lay's arms and rested her head on
his chest. her hair gently, Lay swallowed the lump in his throat.
"7766." He started. "Means that it's time for the ritual to take place. It's time for you to save us." He paused and kissed
her forehead, staring into her eyes with his deep and sincere brown ones. "You have to be brave for us, ok?" She
nodded, feeling tension rise in her chest out of fear and anxiety. It was time to save EXO. It was also time where
there was every possibility that she could lose her life, and never see Lay or anyone else again.
Lay awoke with sweat pouring down his forehead, slightly out of breath. The dream was vivid to say the least, but the thing
that got Lay the most was that she was there again. That same mysterious girl he had bumped into on the street. What was
her relation with Lay? Why was he dreaming of her and him together, why was he kissing her in the dream? He knew that
there was more to her than he knew, but there was no real way of finding out anything about her by himself. That's why he
smiled though, because he wasn't by himself. He had three friends who would help him if he asked.
