The tone played for around three-four seconds.
"Hello?" Kyuhyun answered.
"Hey man!" Lay replied, always cheerful. "How are you?"
"Ah, I've been better." Kyuhyun chuckled lightly. "People are so unreliable, you know?" Lay laughed.
"I hear you! It feels like I haven't seen you in forever! Where do you go off to?"
"I've got so much on my plate now because of my new job, I just haven't been able to do a whole lot with
you guys any more." He replied. "But hey, I had this plan to set Wookie up with a dinner date with that '
Minri' girl, you keen to help?"
"Nah, I've also got a whole heap to do." Lay said awkwardly. The truth was he didn't actually think
Ryeowook would appreciate it as much as Kyuhyun thought. "Hey do you have any idea why Yeonnie
would cry because she thought I slept with someone?"
"Uh, No idea... She um, might-" There was a faint beep. "Sorry man, I'm getting another call. I gotta take
this one."
"Your job?" Lay asked.
"Uh... Y-Yeah, that. See ya." was all he heard back before the line went dead.

Ryeowook wore his pink silk shirt with black buttons - the one Kyuhyun had said he looked nice in. He
wanted to look nice, tonight. Kyuhyun had called him, and told him to meet on the rooftop of the mall where
Minri worked at. It must have been for something important if he asked him there specially. He said to wear
something that looked presentable (aka not fat pants and a stained hoodie) and meet at 8pm sharp. Ryeowook
wanted to look more than presentable. This meant more to him than what Kyuhyun realized. He applied a light
layer of BB cream, styled his hair and wore his favourite cologne. He pet his small, fluffy bichon frise and
headed out the door to his car.
When he arrived, he entered the large mall as he had countless times before. It was 7:56pm, the Mall would
close at 10. He looked at his watch anxiously as he waited for the elevator to climb to the rooftop, accompanied
briefly by a grey ajusshi wanting to go to floor 3. Shuffling nervously from foot to foot, he exited the elevator
and climbed the last few sets of stairs to get to the roof top. Thoughts whipped through his head as he opened
the door, confusion and excitement tearing him up. What could the reason be for Kyuhyun wanting to meet with
him? On a roof top with just the two of them?
"Hello?" Ryeowook called, upon seeing that he was alone on the rooftop. He did say 8pm sharp, and that was
precisely the time. "Are you up here?" He took a few more steps out, trying to see if he could see anyone else
up there on the roof-top, namely Kyuhyun
"Hello?" Another voice surprised Ryeowook, as he had no idea that Minri would be up there as well. "Wookie,
you're here!" she said. Ryeowook frowned but forced a smile as he looked around some more.
"You haven't seen Kyuhyun up here have you?" he asked. She stopped suddenly.
"No, I haven't. I thought you were here for me though, I mean, because of your letter I thought-"
"Letter?" Ryeowook asked, suddenly paying more attention to the situation. Minri nodded, taking a folded piece
of paper from her bag. She handed it to Ryeowook and he read it to himself as tears of frustration built up in his
eyes. It was a letter 'confessing his love' to her and asking Minri to meet him at 8pm sharp in this very place. It
was full of sappy words and sounded exactly like something he would say if he were confessing, not to mention
the pink paper it was written on to really ice the cake. The worst part was, this was Kyuhyun's writing, and
Ryeowook knew it. Kyuhyun had staged this whole thing, just to try and get the two of them together. It was
wrong to play with others emotions, and even more wrong to completely disregard them - but the fact that it was
Kyuhyun just made it bittersweet. Ryeowook was mad to say the least - better words to describe him would have
been furious, betrayed or perhaps hurt.
"So it's not your letter?" she asked. Ryeowook shook his head, still tightly clutching the piece of paper in his grasp.
Minri couldn't see how he really felt. "Well then I'd better get home. See ya later Wookie!" There was silence long
after the roof-top door shut, and Ryeowook finally replied in an off tone.
"See ya..."

Lay felt his phone ringing in his pocket, and he fished it out, answering with some confusion. It was roughly
8:30pm, and no one usually called him at this time.
"Lay? I think you need to get down here." It was Amber, and she sounded worried.
"Why? What's wrong?" Lay asked, already throwing a jacket and some shoes on.
"I found one of your friends at the main entrance to the park, I don't know what to do."
"I'm on my way." Lay hung up and shoved his phone into his pocket as he ran down the street to the park. Luckily
it wasn't far from his house, and the sun was still setting so it wasn't dark yet. There weren't many people out
and about at this time, so it was easy to find Amber when he arrived at the park entrance. She waved him over,
looking rather flustered.
"I don't know what's wrong with him! I was walking home from the gym and I found him crying his eyes out
on the street. I thought maybe... You'd be better at talking to him than I would." Amber ran her fingers through
her hair and rubbed soothing circles on his back. "I've never been good at feelings, ya know?" Lay looked
down to see a man wearing a pink silk shirt with black buttons, hair styled nicely and a light layer of BB cream
running down his face with the tears. Lay crouched down and wrapped his arms around him.
"Wookie..." He said softly. "It's ok, tell me what happened, ok?" Ryeowook shook his head and sniffed.
"I can't." He whimpered. "I just can't."
"Is it that bad?" Lay asked. He gave Amber a signal to let her know she could go.
"Will you guys be alright here?" she asked. Lay nodded, and Amber continued to walk home, looking over her
shoulder in concern.
"You wouldn't understand." Ryeowook let out a choked sob, trying to suppress his tears.
"Then make me understand." Lay said supportively, gripping his friends shoulders. "I hate to see you like this."
Ryeowook looked up at his friend, his eyes wet and red. He stayed that way for a while, pondering what Lay had said.
"You promise you won't tell anyone?" He asked. Lay crossed his heart with his index finger.
"If I do, may God smite me." He replied. Ryeowook took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly, to calm himself down.
"Tonight, Kyuhyun told me to meet him on the rooftop of the mall that Minri works in. He told me to meet him there
at 8pm sharp, so I assumed it was for something important. I made a real effort to dress up and look nice for him, but
when I got there he wasn't there."
"So you're crying because he didn't show up?" Lay asked. Ryeowook shook his head.
"No, that's not it." He replied. "Instead of him being there, Minri was there and she thought that we were supposed to
meeting because of some letter I wrote her with a confession in it, but she was really confused too."
"So you're crying because Minri didn't accept your feelings..?" Lay asked blankly. Ryeowook was getting frustrated
because of his emotions.
"No! That's not it either!" he said roughly. "I didn't write the letter! When I looked at it I saw that it was Kyuhyun's
handwriting! He set the whole thing up and he thinks I like Minri and he used my emotions to tell her something that
isn't even true!!!"
"Is that why you're crying?" Lay asked. Ryeowook grabbed Lay's arms tightly.
"Yes! Because Kyuhyun is trying to set me up with my best friend whom I have no feelings for! And he's writing love
letters in my name and making it sound like I love her but I don't! And I don't even think he realizes that it's not Minri
that I love, but him!" Ryeowook stopped for a few seconds, catching his breath. He stared into Lay's eyes, as Lay
stared back with confusion, trying to fathom what he had just been told.
"Wait... So you..."
"That's right Lay. I love Cho Kyuhyun, and I am gay." Ryeowook had tears streaming down his face, and he look ready
to collapse. Lay held his broken friend together, hugging him tightly while he wept into Lay's shoulder. How much
must it hurt to have the one you love try to make you fall in love with someone else? To watch them every day without
being able to say anything out of fear that they won't accept you. As Ryeowook began to cry harder, Lay began to fade
out. He couldn't tell if this was good, or bad timing.
Key wrenched his arm out of Jonghyun's grasp and began to run towards the ritual point. "They don't deserve peace
for what they've done..." Jonghyun raced after him, and no sooner than they had they got to the ritual point was Sehun
on his knees in tears. Key's tear stained and angry face could only mean one thing - and the maknae knew it.
"Sehun, get up!" A man called, but Sehun remained bowed, shaking and crying. Lay watched in horror as Key approached
him with a murderous rage.
"Hyung I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to do it hyung I'm so sorry!" Sehun sobbed, face contorted in regret and sorrow.
"What's going on?" The girl called. Key glared at her, outraged.
"What's going on!? Are you f***ing kidding me!?" He spat words like venom. "You don't even know that this f***ing
killed my Amber!? You don't even know that she's dead now because of him!?"The girl stayed silent, frozen in
shock, suspended in the yellow energy. Her mouth hung agape as she stared directly at Sehun, waiting for answers.
It was hard to believe such a gentle maknae could ever kill someone. Sehun stood slowly, tears flowing down his face,
his eyes meeting the girl's. One could see the utter regret in his eyes as he tried to beg her to understand. As soon as he
looked to the girl, Key had him pinned to the ground by the throat, forcing him to choke out more tears.
"I'll f***ing crush you!" Key spat, his words stabbing Sehun like a sharp knife. The boy struggled, afraid to use his
powers in case he took another life. The pressure on Sehun's windpipe increase ten-fold, and he could hardly breath,
beginning to hyperventilate thanks to his increased amounts of crying. Lay could only watch in horror as the life was
choked out of his friend.
Another burst of memories came after this one, shorter but still incredibly helpful.
Baekhyun was always the one Lay could count on to cheer him up. Every time he felt sad or homesick, Baekhyun was
always there to comfort him.
"Do you think they went to heaven?" Lay was only six-years-old at the time of his parents passing; the only one who
came to comfort him that night was Baekhyun. No one else knew what to do. His parents were great and powerful guardians,
however their life on EXO was their second one, and their death would not be postponed by a second life on earth. They
were the last of the guardians parents that lived on EXO, the others had died in the great war a few years prior.
"Of course they did." Baekhyun said, rubbing circles on Lay's back. "They were great people, and they helped save our
world!" Lay began to cry when Baekhyun used past tense. 'Were', 'helped'. These words made his parents all but a memory,
nothing more. "Don't cry Lay..." Baekhyun said softly. "It'll be ok..."
Lay exited his memory to find Ryeowook still crying in his arms. The shock of what had happened tonight, mixed with his
emotions and the fact that he had finally told somebody about his homouality had all caught up with him. He must have
been exhausted. Lay let out a shaky sigh. In the memory he had just had, his parents were dead. He liked thinking they
were alive, the lie that 'Suho and the gang' had told him sat better with him than reality did. Of course that was just it. It
wasn't reality, it was only a lie to keep him from asking questions.
It had worked, but at the cost of Lay's trust.
Was that really worth it?
