Trouble
Illegal MarriageDonghae waited and waited for his wife to get home, usually she comes home at 4pm on the dot with the groceries. Donghae comes around 6pm with dinner on the table and the house clean. Tonight, Donghae came home to no dinner on the table, and no Jessica giving him a handful like she always does.
Already, Donghae has left 10 miss calls, 20 text messages, 5 facebook messages and 6 voice mails. Still, Jessica hasn’t answered his making Donghae worry. Could she be kidnapped, or even DEAD. Donghae couldn’t take it anymore, it’s 7pm and Jessica hasn’t come home. Every minute felt like an hour and it was hard to endure it, considering the fact that Jessica may be in trouble and he cannot be there help her.
Donghae doesn’t know San Fransisco well, he’s been to a couple of places since he arrived in America more then a month ago. Still he wasn’t confident enough to walk around the city alone. Exaggerating or no, Donghae has seen enough movies to know that Jessica is 100% in trouble.
The boy quickly took his coat and made his way to the front door, however. The door opened when Donghae was about to leave. Jessica appeared with a heavy amount of shopping bags in her hands. “Where have you been?” Donghae’s booming voice scared his wife.
“Shopping,” it didn’t occur to Jessica that Donghae would be upset when he couldn’t get to his wife. Jessica simply ignored her husbands prsences and entered the house taking off her shoes and proceeding to lounge room to put down these bags. The latter had his hands on his hips not impressed at all, “No call, no message to tell me where you are,”
“You’re not my mother, I’m 22 for Christ sakes, stop treating me like a child,” her shopping day was tiresome, and Donghae trying to scold her is just adding to her migrane. Today, Jessica’s classes were cut short instead of going home like a good wife should, she was convince by her friends to accompany them shopping.
Jessica couldn’t resist the pretty clothing, before she could reach the end of the mall she has already bought half of it. “Still, do you know how worried I was? You could of been kidnapped, . Did you ever think of that I was worried,” Donghae sat opposite from Jessica who;s head was leaning back trying to relax from this hectic day of shopping.
Upon hearing how worried Donghae was, Jessica sat up. She could see in her husband’s eyes that he is on the verge of crying due to an overwhelming/ mixed feeling. Jessica felt sorry, she didn’t know Donghae cared for her as much as he did when they were children. She thought that now they are married, Donghae wouldn’t treat her like he is her servant and she is his master. That’s how Donghae acted when they were children, thinking he was some security guard that needed to protect his master.
Jessica hated how protective he was, and she didn’t get the point of it because in her eyes Donghae was just an ordinary kid like her. However, the boy was placed in the world already aware of how social classes work, how respect is earned and so on. So he needed to protect his master, not only because he wanted to but also because he’s is just a servant of the Jungs.
“I’m sorry,” Jessica continued. “I thought you wouldn’t care that I was out late, or the fact that I didn't called. I didn’t know and now that you’re my husband, pretend or not you do have the right to know where I am, so I’m sorry.” Jessica to be apologizing her mistakes is big, it really is rare to hear the words, ‘I am sorry’ come out of the ice princess’s mouth. Another attribute that surprised Donghae, is Jessica actually noticed Donghae’s feelings. Suddenly the Ice princess’s heart is not made of ice. Or maybe it’s not defrosting, maybe her her icy heart is defrosting for Donghae without her noticing. Just maybe…
It was far to awkward, it honestly was Jessica’s first time to apologize to anyone. She look uncomfortable saying it but she had too, her heart was telling her too apologize to Donghae. Donghae could see how uncomfortable Jessica was apologizing, since he learnt that first times are always the hardest.
“So what did you buy?” Donghae asked as he shifted the conversation to Jessica’s shopping bags, trying to take out the uncomfortableness. “Just clothes,” Jessica continued. “For clubbing,”
Donghae was quickly taken aback, clubbing? Jessica going clubbing? No way in hell she is. Of course Donghae has been to clubs, boys night and sometimes with Sun and their friends. Still, he is aware of the drunken guys who prey on innocent girls, the vibe of consent skinship and especially what the girls choice of artery isn’t with Donghae’s taste. Their piece of clothing screams for ‘easy access.’
“No no you’re not going to a club,” Donghae snapped startling Jessica.
“Woah, didn’t you hear me before? I’m 22 I can do what I want. I’ve never been to a club because Ren never let me. Now that I am well above the age limit, and single I have allow myself to go clubbing with my friends tomorrow night.” Still Donghae couldn’t agree. A club is a dangerous place for girls like Jess. Even though she is tough, scary and mean its still not enough protection from the bad things that can happen in a club.
“You’re married to me!” Donghae raised his married finger still wearing their wedding rings. “You’re not ready to go clubbing, what if your drink gets spiked? what if you get taken advantage off because your guards are down because you’re drunk? There are so many situations where you can be stuck in and I’m not there to get you out,”
Now Jessica was getting mad, the inner ice princess is coming out. This isn’t going to end well. “Firstly, this is a fake marriage,” Jessica raised Donghae’s hand and pointed to the wedding ring. “Secondly, you’re not my mum, dad, brother, boyfriend or anyone to tell me where or where not to go. Thirdly, I get that you want me home to look after you help you with your home work but I need a break from you. Isn’t it already a burden enough that I have to give up a year of my life to marry you to get you to become a permanent resident?”
It indeedly hurt but that’s how blunt the ice princess is. Regardless who it is, that’s how Jessica acts. Surprisingly, Jessica actually likes Donghae so he doesn’t have to cope it as much as other people do. It makes him wonder how she manage to gain friends over the years, because from the last he heard, Jessica scared all the kids away.
“I’m going, I don’t care if I’m Mrs Lee, Miss Jung or Ren’s property. I am going and I’m going to have a good time, I’m going to be away from university assignments and study. I’m going to dance like theres no tomorrow, drink all my problems away and the best part of all. You’re not there to annoy me, or make me do something for you,” Donghae still stuck to his will. He will not let his wife go out with her friends to a club full of hungry man.
“You’re not going and that’s final.”
