Moving In
Illegal Marriage“How is he?” Jessica didn’t respond, how is he? How is she supposed to respond to her mother? Is she meant to lie? She is meant to protect her friend and say everything is running smoothly when it isn’t? “It’s like- you know- the usual..”
“The usual? You mean you’re fighting usual or-“ the silence was enough for Jessica’s mum to know that it wasn’t going well.
“Mum I’ve been married with the guy for a week and he’s already driving me crazy,” Jessica’s mother cursed she knew that the two would act like this, they always had. At first they would be best friends but spending more time together they become sick of each other, and end in a stage where every word that comes out of their mouths gives them an excuse to criticize each other. It’s an ongoing battle of trying to get them to make up and put aside their differences. But this cannot be out do as Jessica and Donghae are two different people, it’s like trying to make the joker and batman to hug it out and be best friends again.
This only last a couple of days, usually a couple of days before Jessica leaves for America Donghae and Jessica start to get along that both don’t want to leave each other. However, that’s only happens when Jessica comes to Korea for a holiday, this time its different, this is a marriage that is meant to last for a year. Are they meant to not get along until their last moments of being a married couple?
“Remember it’s only a year,” Jessica’s mother said over the phone as a piece of advice. It was the last day of Jessica’s and Donghae’s honeymoon. The week has been alright, at times they got along but most of the time they fought like cats and dogs. When they went out of the resort, the skinship continued, but as soon as they reached close doors of their hotel room the two separated from each as far as they can. Participating in couple activities they did have fun, but at times Donghae would joke around with Jessica giving the girl a hot head. “Trust me mum that’s what I’ve been telling myself,” Jessica sighed as she turned around to find Donghae coming out to the deck to have breakfast.
“Mum, I’ll see you at San Francisco in a couple of days. I’m going to have breakfast with my husband now,” Jessica sighed, using the word ‘husband’ in a sarcastic matter.
“Okay, just don’t poison his food,”
“I’ll try not to,” Jessica laughed at her mother’s remark. “Love you,”
“I love you to honey,”
Jessica hanged up on the phone and took her sea at the table where Donghae was already eating his breakfast that Jessica prepared earlier. “Who was that?” Donghae asked.
“My mum,” Jessica responded as she ate her own breakfast.
“Is she ringing to see if we have made a honey moon baby yet?” Donghae joked making Jessica’s eye widen at his rude joke. She aimed a bread knife at him, “I would much rather kill myself then have your baby,” Donghae laughed. He really loves annoying Jessica, if he was paid to do it, oh boy he would be a millionaire.“So have you packed your bags yet?” Donghae asked. “We are leaving for America in a couple of hours.”
“I woke up early to do it, and yours to,” Jessica explained, but cut Donghae before he could talk. “And I also laid out the clothes you are going to wear to the airport out for you, it’s in the dresser hanged so it won’t get crinkled.” Donghae was impressed how prepared Jessica is.
“Wow you are sounding like a real wife, why would you do this?” Donghae asked.
“Because oppa I know how unorganized you are,” Jessica stated. She was right, Jessica is a neat freak, she likes being on time and her hatred for germs is overwhelming. While Donghae is the opposite, he eats so messily, he never is on time and he doesn’t care about mess because he knows where everything is anyways. “Thanks for taking care of me,” Jessica just looked at him and went back to eating her breakfast. This is how their relationship worked. They would fight but deep down they had each other’s backs.
