How it began.
Fostered love.“Aish” yelled Baro as he splashed his face with cold water. He looked up into the mirror of the empty men’s washroom. “Why did they have to come” Baro sighed as he leaned against the marble counter top. The washroom was spotless in comparison to Baro’s now, wet suit. The splashes of water gave his black tux a dirty, crumpled look. Baro looked at them and sighed he walked over to the hand dryers and began to dry his tux. Suddenly he heard a loud bang followed by screams. They in turn were followed by an alarm sound.
“What the hell”. Baro left the bathroom and ran to the room where his family where. However his face turned pale as he came face to face with the most terrifying sight that he had ever seen. The whole corridor leading to the room was filled with flames and smoke. There was no way by as the flames soared to the ceiling engulfing everything in its way. Baro quickly searched through his pants for his phone. With no look he searched his suit eventually finding it in his pocket. By this stage smoke had begun to reach him. Within seconds all of the oxygen was replaced with smoke. Baro began to move away from the fire as he coughed. He dialled 119 and waited for an answer.
“Hello, emergency services how may I help you?” asked the woman.
“I need the fire brigade and ambulances.” Said Baro trying to remain calm.
“What is your address?” asked the woman.
“EH… eh… eh its... Eh Dongdae Gil convention hall. Please hurry my family are trapped in a room and there’s no way that I can get to them” suddenly Baro began to cough heavily as the smoke engulfed him. “Please...… hurry” panted Baro through coughs. Suddenly Baro felt dizzy. He struggled to get free of the smoke. He could make out the exit up ahead through the smoke. Suddenly he felt something tug him.
“Ah” yelled Baro as he woke up. He lay staring up at his carer, who looked back at him concerned. Baro was pale and was covered in a cold sweat.
“Are you alright?” asked the woman.
“Hm...” Replied Baro as he sat up.
“Okay. Hurry the Jung’s will be here soon.” Said the woman.
“Oh. Thanks noona” replied Baro as he got out of bed.
Baro sat beside the woman from earlier as a couple walked in guided by the man in charge of the foster home. They sat at a large table in a well-lit office. Baro still looked slightly pale as he sat still in his usual jeans and t-shirt. The husband and wife sat down opposite him and smiled.
“Baro, Im sure you remember Mr and Mrs Jung from before.” Said the man.
“Ah, anyeosaeyo” said Baro bowing slightly to them.
“He is so well behaved” said the head man.
The couple nodded as they continued to smile.
“No Baro, Mr and Mrs Jung have decided to adopt you” announced the head man.
Baro looked up in shock. He looked from the head man to his carer to the Jungs and back to the head man. “M…m...Me” said Baro completely shocked.
“Yes” said the head man smiling at Baro.
“Of course if that’s okay with you Baro” said Mrs Jung. “We don’t want to force you into anything that you don’t want”
“Thank you” said Baro bowing again.
The Jung’s smiled back at him as the head man passed a form in front of him.
“Sign here, here and here” said the head man as he pointed to empty lines on the form.
“Sure” said Mr Jung taking a pen and signing his name before passing the form and pen to his wife. Once they finished signing their names they handed it back to the head man excitedly.
“now, let us leave for a minute and let Baro’s carer decide if this is right for Baro.” Announced the head man.
“Of course” said Mr Jung as he and his wife followed the head man out.
“I think you should go with them” said the carer after the other adults left.
Baro nodded. “If noona thinks it’s right then I’ll go with them.” Replied Baro.
The woman smiled at him as she took his hands and looked into his eyes. “Are you sure you’re ready?”
“Now or never” said Baro smiling slightly. The carer smiled and hugged him tight. “I’m gonna miss you noona”
