Prologue
The Color of BloodCold wind was slowly blowing through the empty streets and cut the young man right through his bones. He shivered, turned up the collar of his long black coat and put his hands back into his pockets.
Five minutes left …
The sound of a distant car passing by on the freeway reached his ear, the cry of an owl and the crinkly leaves upon the dry streets. If he wasn't in this situation, he would joke about it. 'Just like in one of those low-budget horror movies', he would say.
But he was in this situation. It was real.
Four minutes left …
His anxious eyes were slowly sliding down the lonesome road, waiting to cath someone who appeared on its end. The air in front of his face was fogged by his own breath, that left his tensed-up body in heavy, fast gasps.
Three minutes left …
Only four days ago, he had finally had his 21th birthday, and this meant stepping into his father's shoes and joining his family's business. It was the first time, he had to carry out one of his father's tasks – whether he wants or not. The tension was nearly choking him.
Two minutes left …
He knew that he wasn't able to kill someone. Even if the training he went through since he was a child had prepared him year by year for joining this business, he was absolutely sure that he could never kill someone.
His father told him, that they just had a 'rated-01'-task today – this means, they would try to get it over as fast as they can without harming anyone. But you never know for sure how things might turn out.
One minute left …
A strong hand was placed on his shoulder and he turned his head to look into his father's eyes. A dark smile was grimacing his face, and soon they heard silent footsteps from the end of the street. “Welcome to your family's business, Siwon”, Mr. Cho said dangerously silent, before he looked at the two men in front of him. Siwon took a deep breath.
