Chapter Twenty Eight – Fly High

After the news about Nana’s intense condition, both of them flew to Seoul on the same day. They didn’t wait for another day to arrive since Luhan insisted to go back at once. It was fortunate for them since the flight tickets to Korea were still available and the time was still sufficient for them to pack up everything.

To be frank, Luhan was very upset that they had to go back to Seoul although their vacation had yet to end. If Nana didn’t barge into their vacation, they wouldn’t have flown back to Seoul. But how could he blame Nana on this matter? It was not like she did it deliberately, though.

Actually, Luhan didn’t force Yoona to fly back to Seoul along with him. He said she could stay here a bit longer. But the latter debated his words. How could he ask her to stay here when Luhan go back to Seoul alone? It was quite displeasing in the eye of everyone especially his family.

So in the end, Yoona insisted to follow him along and now, they were in the midst of travelling back to Seoul. The airplane was expected to reach Incheon International Airport within half an hour.

“I’m sorry,” the elder whispered at her ear when she had drifted into a deep sleep. She seemed a bit tired that she slept right away when the airplane departed.

He gently rested her head on his comforting shoulder so that she could sleep well.

Luhan, on the other hand, seemingly couldn’t close his eyes to sleep at all. His heart was filled with anxiety and excitement at the same time. He wanted to reach Seoul right away so that he could meet his newborn nephew.

By the time Luhan and Yoona arrived at the hospital in the evening, Nana had safely given birth to a adorable baby boy. People who came to visit Nana in the maternity ward had eventually returned home. The only ones left were Joongki, Mr. and Mrs. Xi.

“You’re late,” Joongki said with a laugh.

“I’m sorry but flights to Seoul only left at 1 pm so we had no choice, hyung,” Luhan stated apologetically.

“It’s okay if you’re late, Luhan-ah,” Mr. Xi reassured, smiling. “At least you’re returned home to see your sister.”

A satisfied smile flitted across his face. “Thanks, appa.”

Yoona, on the other hand, instantly went to the bed after she had done greeting her parents in-law. She was actually excited to see her newborn baby boy. She was a woman, and it was natural for her to feel ecstatic when she saw babies.

Nana brought up the baby towards the elder’s direction so that she could hold him. As soon as she held him, she couldn’t help but feel over the moon. Holding a newborn baby was indeed a great pleasure even though it wasn’t her own child.

“Unnie looks so happy to have held the baby,” Nana commented, laughing heartily and casted a gaze at her brother.

Luhan just smiled in return. Then, he went closer to Yoona and had the chance to hold the adorable baby. “Have both of you put name for him?”

Joongki shook his head lightly. “We haven’t, Luhan-ah. Do suggest if you have decent name in mind.”

“Yes, oppa and unnie should suggest the name for the baby!” Nana agreed. “We can used yours if we like the name.”

“Uhm, what is Joongki’s oppa surname?” Yoona turned to Joongki as she threw a question.

“It’s Song,” answered Joongki.

Yoona, then, contemplated for a moment to suggest some decent names. Luhan was keen when his wife seemed so engrossed. He let out an amused chuckle inwardly.

“What about Jaejin?” she voiced out after a moment. “Song Jaejin.”

“Omma like that name,” Mrs. Im stated in awe. “The name itself is both simple and cute.”

“Me too, omma!” Nana nodded enthusiastically and looked at Yoona with wide eyes. “Yoona unnie’s so good in suggesting name!”

“Uhm, look whose wife is she,” Luhan pitched in and everyone in the ward bursted out laughing. Yoona, on the other hand, blushed in embarrassment. She could not hit her husband as she always did to avoid being said an impudent wife. Yoona could only grit her teeth and look at the elder furtively.

“Alright then! We’ll go with Jaejin,” Joongki eventually said. He liked the name as well.

“Oh, really, oppa?” Yoona’s eyes widened. She then received a convincing nod from Joongki. She couldn’t believe the name that she’d just suggested was picked out for the name of the baby.

Yoona couldn’t help but smile in delight. She held Jaejin once again in contentment. “Jaejin-ah, you’re such a cute baby,” she blurted out, “just like your parents.”

Mrs. Im suddenly butted in the conversation, “Yoona-yah, you seem engrossed with Jaejin-ah.. when will your time be?”

“I was actually thinking the same thing too,” Mr. Im affirmed his wife’s words. “I’ve been longing for child from both of you. I’d love to see your child before I die.”

Both of them were taken aback by the words from the elders. They didn’t expect they would talk about them, though. It was beyond their imagination.

Luhan, casted an instant gaze at his wife. His wife looked so shocked upon the outburst. He positively knew the latter’s heart was hurt because of their words. He knew his parents didn’t mean to say bad for them. They just wanted the best for them and also, they wanted to see their own flesh and blood before they closed their eyes.

Yoona tried to hold back her devastation by plastering a strained smile at the corner of her lips. She didn’t anyone else see what she was feeling right now especially Luhan. She didn’t want her husband to be affected by his parents’ words.

Joongki could feel the intensity of the subject as both of their face looked appalled and miffed. Spontaneously, he tried to move to another, insensitive subject.

“Uhm, let’s go eat everybody!” he voiced out and looked at Nana in an instant. “You must be hungry, right? So tell me what sort of food do you want and I’ll bring it here”

Nana knew the furtive glance of her husband so she played the role along. “Of course I am, oppa but how can I eat foods from outside? Nurse won’t let me to eat those foods!”

Joongki laughed. “Then I’ll order drinks only, okay?” he said and earned a nod from his wife. “What kind of drinks do you want, yeobo?”

“Anything would be fine, oppa.” Nana grinned widely.

Joongki glanced at Luhan secretively to bring Yoona out before his gaze met his parents’ eyes. “Omma, appa, let’s go eat!”

Mrs. Im seemed to have wanted her son in-law’s words but Nana promptly cut her off. “Omma, just go eat, will you? I want to spend time alone with Jaejin.” She curled up a pout as she snuggled him to her closely.

“Fine, let’s go.” With that, Mrs. Im had no choice but to follow them to the cafeteria. 

On the way to the cafeteria, Luhan went closer to his brother in-law to thank for his help in a hushed voice. “Hyung, thanks for helping us earlier. Omma and appa wouldn’t have stopped talking about me and Yoona if you didn’t in.”

Joongki laughed amicably and said, “No biggie, Luhan-ah. I’ll be there to help you and Yoona-yah whenever you need me.”

Luhan smiled in return upon his words. A genuine one.

Luhan threw himself on the couch with a heavy sigh. Finally, he could get a rest after they had gone home sharp at 9 pm. A lot of things had happened today. He and Yoona took a stroll at nutmeg forest to make wishes and then, his mother called him saying that Nana had given birth. So, they had had no choice but to fly back to Seoul even though their vacation had yet to end.

After they had reached Seoul, they went straight to the said hospital to check on his sister. Thanks to God, Nana had safely given birth to a adorable baby boy, Song Jaejin.

Subtly, he latched his gaze at Yoona and scooted closer to her. From his observation, she seemed kind of exhausted. He could hear her sighing out of weariness.

“Yoona, are you tired?” he threw a concerned inquiry.

The younger turned to him and shook her head. “Not really. Why?”

“You look tired,” he stated. “Come rest on my lap.”

“It’s okay, B...” she refused, shaking her head once again.

“You sure stubborn, jagiya.” Luhan let out a laugh, pulling the younger against her.

So in the end, Yoona had to abide by him; she laid on the couch diagonally and rested her head on her husband’s lap.

Luhan lowered his head, looking straight at Yoona fondly. His act rendered the younger to jerk her head. She was timid to be stared so directly by him, though.

“D-don’t stare at me, B,” she stammered, blushing furiously.

“I will keep staring at you, jagiya.” Luhan chuckled comically upon seeing Yoona’s cute reaction. “Because you’re too adorable.”

Yoona winced at his remark. Her cheeks became even crimson red. She knew the elder would keep on staring at her though she had asked him to stop. So in the end, she had to let him stare at her.

“Jagiya,” the latter enunciated as his fingers ran through her hair, only to ruffle her hair lovingly.

“Hmm?” the younger hummed softly, latching her gaze up at him. “What’s the matter, B?”

“I’m sorry,” was the only words he could utter.

“For what, B?”

Luhan sighed audibly. “Our vacation got stopped unexpectedly.”

“B... how many times are you to apologize, eh?” She chuckled. “I’ve already said before this, right? It’s okay. I don’t mind if our vacation got stopped unexpectedly. It’s not like we couldn’t go on a vacation later,” explained Yoona thoughtfully. A smile formed at the corner of her lips. “Nana’s given birth so as family members, we have to put her in the first place.”

Luhan nodded, understood. He let out a sigh of relief. He was happy because his wife was being considerate and didn’t mind that their vacation got cut off because of family matters. Plus, he had the thoughts to go on honeymoon trip to Krabi before this. The one that he had discussed with Chen. To be frank, Jeju-do wasn’t the place he intended to go in the  first place.
