“H-Hello, Ma’am,” Luhan stammered nervously. He had plenty of experience talking to adults – especially his father’s business partners – but none of that seemed to matter when he stood in front of Sura’s mother.
“It’s lovely to finally meet you, Luhan.” Her mother’s eyes crinkled into a smile in the same way Sura’s did.
He awkwardly held out flowers. “I-I brought you these…”
Her mother took them from him happily. “Thank you, dear! You didn’t have to.” She looked to her daughter and said, “He’s such a sweetheart. You picked a good one!”
Sura rolled her eyes. “Don’t flatter him so much… You wouldn’t believe the ego he has.”
Luhan put on an innocently clueless expression and shrugged, mouthing ‘I don’t know what she’s talking about.’
Sura’s mother chuckled. It was hard to believe he was the son of such a cold-hearted businessman – well she didn’t know his father in person, but Sura sure made him sound like that.
“I’m going to be getting treated from home starting next month, sweetheart,” she said to Sura.
She looked at Luhan. “So come over then, and I’ll cook you a nice meal… You can also meet her father then too. He’s already gone back to China, but he’ll come back then.”
He gulped in slight intimidation but forced a smile and nodded. If he was this fearful of meeting her father, he didn’t understand how Sura had managed to hold her ground when meeting his father.
They had brought lunch for 3, so they ate together in her mother’s private hospital room, sharing small-talk. Luha
