Chapter 17: Love rides the Rain

GD dialled Dara's number for the thirtieth time but she didn't answer it, instead, she rejected each and every call and she also has the gall to turn the phone off. He angrily banged his fist on the steering wheel in defeat. He called the restaurant earlier but the management told him that she already left half an hour ago. Deciding what his next move will be, he finally chose to drive towards the Park-Seo mansion instead. Jiyong drove as fast as he can, not even minding the fact that it's heavily raining outside and that it's dangerous to drive with this kind of weather. Just when he was almost at the mansion, he saw a cab heading  in the same direction  as him. Squinting his eyes, GD tried to see who the passenger is despite the heavy rain. His eyes widened when he realize that it was Dara. He drove faster so that he's now ahead of the cab and he then turn his car, effectively barricading it's path making the cab skid to a halt.

Dara: [surprise] Omo! What's happening?!

She nervously looked at the car in front of her, scared that maybe there are kidnappers in there.

Dara: Omo! Omo! Omo! I don't want to be kidnapped! If something bad happens to me, I am so gonna kill that stalkerman!!

While Dara is panicking in her own mind, she didn't notice that someone is already tapping on her window side and shakily she looked at the window and was surprised to find GD. She quickly looked at the door making sure it's locked, and when she's sure that it is, Dara turned to the other side making GD face her back instead.

Irritated, GD walked to the driver's side and pleaded to talk with him outside. Once he convinced the driver, GD explained who he is and that he knows his passenger. He offered to pay for her fare. When the deal was sealed, the driver finally unlocked the door for him.

Dara: W--what? Wai---

She was cut off when GD suddenly yanked the door open and drag her outside. He then remove his coat and put it on her head to cover Dara from getting wet and pulled her to his Porsche.

GD: Stay there! [runs to the driver seat and starts driving]

Dara: Where are you taking me?!

GD: I just want to talk with you.

Dara: I don't want to! Now let me off!

GD: NO! Just let me explain okay? We can go on like this forever if you won't give me a chance.

Dara: Grrrr... Fine! Just make it fast. [crosses arms]

GD then parked the car beside a garden then took a deep breath before facing Dara.

GD: I screw up... I know that... But I seriously did not ditch you. I was already about to go to our date but our parents called us for an emergency meeting and--

Dara: Wait... We??

GD: Yonghwa and I. He also asked your sister on a dat-- [eyes widens] Sh*t!! I never should've said that!

Dara: He what?!? So that means I'm not the only one who was ditched!? [worries] Hyunnie... I'm sure she's crying right now...Take me home Jiyong...

GD: [retorts] But I haven't even... Wait... [surprised] You just called me by my name.

Dara: It doesn't matter. Just... Take me home.

GD: [stubborn] Like I said, I won't let you go until I explain my actions.

Dara: I don't care about your explanations! In fact, I don't want to hear it. I'm more worried about Hyun right now! She's hurt...  I have to be there for her! So take me home now!

GD: How about you? Aren't you angry?? Or... Hurt about what happened?

Dara: [faces him] Angry, yes. But hurt? Yes... No... I gave you a chance. I went on this stupid date, even though I didn't want to. I don't even know why the hell I still went there! [pause] You're the same as any other guy I've met after all...

GD was dumbfounded at what Sandara had told him and this left him silent. What she just said was a big slap on the face.

Dara: Okay. Now take me home...

Defeated, all GD could do was nod and start driving. Both of them didn't utter a single word until they almost reach the Park-Seo Mansion.

Dara: Stop.

GD: What?

Dara: Stop here. I can walk there myself.

GD: But--

Dara: Please...

As soon as GD stopped the car at the side, Dara threw the coat back to GD and quickly steps out of the car. Without any second thoughts, GD also steps out the car and chased Dara.

GD: Wait! [grabs her arm]

Dara: What more do you want?! If I get sick because of staying too long under this rain, I'm gonna kill you!

GD: You're not the only one who's drenched in the rain you know.

Dara: Whatever! [strodes back to her house]

As Sandara angrily walks, she suddenly felt GD's arms wrap around her body as he hug her from behind. Despite the cold rain, Dara can still feel the warmth radiating from his body.

GD: [hugs her tighter] Call me selfish... But I will never let you go... Not now...

Dara: [inhales] Kwon Jiyong... What am I to you?

GD: [surprised] I... You're...

Dara: Forget it... I'm not sure I'm ready to hear the answer...[steps out from his embrace]

Sandara started to walk away but suddenly stopped and headed back to GD.

Dara: And by the way... [pulls GD's tie and kissed him on the lips]

GD: [shocked]

Dara: I'm taking back all the kisses you stole from me. All of it did NOT happened, and I'm erasing it from my memories. You might as well do the same. [turns around and starts to run away]

GD was still in a state of shock at what Dara had done. Shakily, he reached out and touched his lips.

You might as well do the same...

GD: I can't just forget everything... [looks up to the sky] I'm not giving up on you Sandara Park... I just love you too much...

Seohyun looked at Yonghwa's shirt in sadness and worry. For the first time in her life, her feelings are all mixed up and it was created by one person. Standing up, she held the shirt and hug it.

Hyun: What happened to you, Yong-oppa?

Slowly, tears started to fall to her cheeks and into the shirt. Silently crying, she has the urge to go to her Unnie and cry but she decided not to anyway. She doesn't want to bother her Unnie with her problems. Daintily, she turned her lights off and was about to go to sleep when she heard a soft tapping on her balcony door followed by a voice she knows too well.

Yong: Hyun, it's me. Can you please talk to me?

Hyun: Yong-oppa?

Yong: Joo Hyuy...

Seohyun stubbornly close her eyes and hug the shirt as tight as she can.

Hyun: I'm not yet ready to talk to you, Oppa. Please... leave me alone...

Yonghwa touched the glass door thinking any moment it would open. He was already drenched from head to toe because of the rain. The coat he wore earlier is left forgotten in his car. And his white dress shirt has some dirt streaks on it and leaves can be seen in his hair because of climbing Seohyun's balcony.The beating of the rain felt nothing to his skin unlike the soft pinch he feels in his heart.

Yong: [clutch his chest] What am I feeling? Why does my heart hurt so much? Joo Hyun, please talk to me. Even for just a minute and then after this [clench jaw] I wouldn't bother you anymore. Please Joo Hyuy...

Hyun: He won't bother me? But Oppa never did. Everything he does is special. [whisper] Oppa.

Her body reacted on its own, dropping the shirt she walked towards her balcony door and was welcomed with the sight of a drench Yonghwa.

Hyun: Oppa! [worried] What are you... [tries to unlock the door]

Yong: Don't!

Hyun: [stops] But Oppa you're...

Yong: I'm alright. [smiles] And as promised, one minute, right Hyun?

Hyun: Ottoke? What should I do? You can talk forever, it would be fine with me. But...

Yong: Let me speak first, Hyun. Or else I'll change my mind.

Seohyun hesitantly nods her head that made Yonghwa smile. He can't help but admire her even if she's wearing a Keroro pyjamas. In Yonghwa's eyes, he thinks that no one can beat the beauty in front of her and he was glad he saw her that way.

During his drive towards her house, he realized something and that is Seohyun is too precious to him. She was fragile as much as she was tough and he decided to do this talk to not break her soft toughness any longer. Taking a huge breath of courage...

Yong: Hyun... I'm sorry... this jerk [points at himself] made you cry.

Hyun: [shakes head] You did not...

Yong: [smile] I did. I can see your tears from here. You're really a bad liar Hyun. You know, you can be mad at Oppa. Scream at me. Get mad. Hate me. I deserve it so much.

Hyun: But I don't hate you. I could never hate you.

Yong: You should. I'm a bad guy Hyun. How woud you feel if you knew I befriended you because of money? That is why...

Hyun: But-

Yong: Yah! I told you no speaking at Oppa's minute. [take a huge breath] Hyun-ah... Joo Hyuy... Because of this I realize one thing. Oppa is selfish because even if I hurt you, I don't want to let you go. Mianhe...[bows head]

Hyun: [tears falling] It's alright, Yong-oppa...

Seohyun was about to tell him that she doesn't want him to let go. That it's alright for him to be selfish because she's selfish too...

Yong: But I think it is time for me to become unselfish. I'm letting you go, Hyun. To stop you from getting hurt more. I'm letting Hyun free from this [points at himself] burden. I'm glad I've met you and I'm sorry for everything. Annyeong.

Stunned, Seohyun can only stare at Yonghwa's retreating back. When he finally disappears, she woke up from her shock and shakily tried to unlock the door.

Hyun: Stop shaking! I need to go to oppa...

Not having the strength to open her balcony door, Hyun turn and run as fast as her legs can carry her. She run through the hallways and stair.

Hyun: Why are you leaving oppa? I thought you don't want to hurt me? You are hurting me now. Please come back,oppa!

She burst out of the mansion's door and ran bare footed. The rain soaking her pajamas. She tried her best to reach the leaving Ferrari.

She called and called..

Hyun: OPP--[omf]

Loosing her balance, she fell down in a puddle. Feeling hopeless, all she can do is cry.

Hyun: [whispers] Oppa...

Yong: [with his coat] I told you I'm not going to burden you anymore. What are you doing, Hyun? [trying to shield Hyun from the rain]

Seohyun looked at him and cry more which made Yonghwa panic.

Hyun: Yong [sniff] told me he's sorry but [sniff] he is only making me cry. You [sniff] doing this to me hurts more than you [sniff] not showing up.

Yonghwa could only stare at her. He already made his decision and he's not going to change it. His hyung may disagree but he can't hurt Hyun more than this. Kneeling down...

Yong: Hyun, come on. Before you get sick.

Hyun: [sniff] But you're as drenched as [sniff] me...

Yong: [laughs] I'm strong. How about I carry you. Get on my back.

Yonghwa then wrap his coat around Seohyun before kneeling in front of her.Reluctantly, Seohyun rode on his back. Slowly, they walk back towards her mansion. It's a good thing that the maids and butlers are all asleep plus Seohyun's parents are still abroad or they'll have a heart attack seeing the two trudge towards their youngest child's room.Once inside, Yonghwa then place Hyun on a chair. 

Yong: [wants to touch Hyun's cheek but stops himself] Better change so you won't get sick. Then after that, go and rest youself. It's been a long day for you.

He stood up and step back. He gave a wave of goodbye and was about to leave when Seohyun suddenly enclose him in a hug.

Hyun: You're not going to leave me anymore, right? Oppa, would always be there for me?

Yong: [fake smile] I would never leave you but- Hyun, you should really change. And don't talk about unnecessary things.

Hyun: [tightens hug] It's not unnecessary. This is important to me! Promise me you're not going to leave me. [loosen hug and shows her right pinky finger]

Yong: [looks at her finger intently] I, Jung Yonghwa, promise to never leave Seo Joo Hyun, in my heart and soul no matter how I would physically drift apart from you. This is my promise.

Yonghwa then hooked his finger and kissed their joined pinkies before hugging Seohyun.

Hyun: [smile] Thank you. I'm glad, Oppa.

Yonghwa returned Seohyun's smile before ushering her to change. She nods her head and obediently walk towards her bathroom. Once Yonghwa heard the door lock, he silently walked to her door. Before shutting it, he gave a final look at Hyun's room, smiling at the small library in a corner before seeing the shirt he lent her. Picking it up, he contemplated whether to leave it to her or not.

Yong: I think it's better if you erase me from your life. Goodbye, Seo Joo Hyun.

Holding his shirt, he walk out of Seohyun's life. And as the door closes, the relationship between the two came into a halt.
