Chapter 10 -- Inspirit
Mind Captivity
Hoya grabbed her and ran out of the way, "Seomin! Pay attention!" He yelled at her.
Seomin turned to him and just stared, "I can't see anything Hoya." She told him in desperation.
"Ehh?! What do you mean you can't see anything?!" He shouted at her as he defended against the incoming attack from the leader.
She held her hand in front of her and couldn't see it, all she saw was Sunggyu waving at her.
"Leave!" He shouted at her.
She watched as another man stood next to Sunggyu, trying to calm down his panic. If Sunggyu was telling her to leave, then she had to try.
"I can't!" She shouted back at him, she opened her eyes over and over again, trying to wake up but she kept seeing him there.
Sunggyu looked at her in desperation, he walked up to her and physically shoved her, pushing her out of the dream. She opened her eyes once more and she found herself back in the forest.
"Watch out!" Hoya shouted at her, throwing a sword at the leader to block the attack and he grabbed Seomin, before running away.
"Let's just run!" Dongwoo yelled, making sure everyone was on the same page and they made for the city gates.
Seomin's vision was back and Hoya released her, letting her run on her own. The fighters chased after them, no weapons were thrown.
This was merely a game of cat and mouse, and so far the mouse was winning. Sungjong was running next to Dongwoo and they could see each other paired off as they approached the end of the forest.
"Almost there." Hoya said, not breaking his pace.
Seomin turned around and noticed that the eight fighters had stopped following them. The leader gave her a dismissive wave as he gave up on chasing them.
"They're gone!" She shouted out for everyone to hear.
"Finally! I thought they would never give up." Sungjong called out.
They all slowed their pace slightly, just to let their bodies rest a bit but didn't stop running until they reached the end of the forest.
The trees faded out as the grassy patch of the city of Inspirit approached. The four of them stood tall, walking towards the gates where three guards stood.
They waited for their turn as several people were ahead of them trying to get through.
"Halt." The lead guard said.
The four of them stopped and stood at attention waiting for instructions.
The other two men approached them and patted the boys down, one of them approached Seomin and she held her hand up defensively.
"A female should be searched by a female, don't you think?" She said.
The lead guard grinned, "We don't discriminate here." He replied.
"Yeah, well, I'm sure there will be lots of complaints of ladies getting frisked in inappropriate places. So here." Seomin took her the knife hidden in her inner thigh and showed it to them.
She also took out the pair of knives hidden in the small of her back, as well as the tiny one on her right ankle.
"So many weapons on such a little girl." The lead guard remarked.
"I live in a dangerous place." She countered. "And there's erts everywhere." She glared at the guard that wants to frisk her.
"Very well. You may pass." The lead guard moved out of the way and let them walk past him.
Hoya and Dongwoo stood on either side of Seomin as they walked in. All the townspeople stared at them for their dirty clothes and rags.
But they didn't care, they continued walking.
Seomin kept her eyes on her feet as she avoided the gazes.
Her feet lines up together as she walked in line.
Step by step, they walked to the nearest marketplace with Dongwoo leading the way.
She looked down at her feet again and noticed that they were getting smaller, she tilted her head in confusion as she blinked once.
Her feet were normal sized again, she dismissed it as her vision trying to confuse her.
She looked up and saw all the fruit everywhere, the people looked at them cautiously.
She saw a different stall and owner in her eyes, instead of apples and oranges it was lines with pineapples and guavas.
"Sungjong, what fruits is that stall selling?" She asked him.
Sungjong looked at her and then looked at the stall, "Apples and oranges, noona. Why? Do you want one?" He asked.
"No, I was just wondering." She told him.
She bit her lip as she tried to see the apples and oranges Sungjong had said but the stall wouldn't change.
"Princess." A little boy walked in front of her and said.
She looked down and saw his smiling face. "I'm not a princess." She told him.
"Who are you talking to Seomin?" Hoya asked her.
"This little boy." Seomin pointed at him.
Hoya looked at her, "Are you okay, Seomin?" He asked.
"I'm fine. He just called me princess and I was telling him that I'm not." Seomin explained.
Hoya sighed, before grabbing onto her hand, "Seomin, there's no one there."
