Chapter seven:

[A month later…]

IU’s POV:

For the past month, we basically stuck to the same schedule of making kimchi fried rice and selling them. Since we were earning so much, every Saturaday, we would go out. Kikwang calls it a ‘date’. We would either have a picnic at the park or play with the sand at the beach, like last week. I laughed when I remembered what happened at the beach last Saturday…

-FLASHBACK-

“Ji Eun ah!” Kikwang called out to me. “Come see what I made!”

“What?” I ran over. Then I burst out laughing.

He had made two faces on the sand, one for him and one for me. He made his face pudgy, and carved out two huge puppy dog eyes. He made my face tiny, and carved out a pair of huge eyes, using seaweed to represent my hair. He made my “face” peck his “cheeks”, just like what happened at month ago.

“You like?” He grinned mischievously.

I whacked him. “You! Bad Kikwang! You’re still harping on it? Bad, bad Kikwang oppa!”

He sneaked a quick peck at my cheek. “Does this make me good now?” He asked innocently.

“Eeep!” I squealed, shocked by his sudden kiss. “You! That was even worse! Naughty oppa! Naughty!”

-END OF FLASHBACK-

Anyway, we had just finished work and were back home, about to make kimchi.

“Oh no!” I cried. “There’s no kimchi left!”

“Oh, I’ll just quickly run down to the grocery store to get some! Be right back!” Kikwang gave me a quick peck and ran out of the house, wearing his adorable bear hat and beaming at his achievement.

I can’t believe he managed to get away with it again! He’s so in trouble when he gets back!
Yoseob’s POV:

The lift was out of order, so I took the stairs.

Yay! Good job, Kikwang! You kissed her again!

Kekeke, you’re so in trouble when you get back!

Suddenly, my foot tripped, and I fell backwards, my head landing on the hard, concrete floor.

Everything went black.

No one’s POV:

Luckily for Yoseob (I’m using his real name since this is no one’s POV), a man happened to be right behind him. He dialed for the ambulance and in half an hour, the ambulance had taken Yoseob to the hospital…

IU’s POV:

It had been almost an hour since he left.

Why was he taking so long? The grocery store is only 5minutes away from the house!

Aishh…he’s probably stuck there, doing something silly. I better go get him.

When I arrived at the grocery store, there was no one there.

“Kikwang oppa?” I shouted. “Kikwang oppa! Where are you?”

I searched the whole store twice, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Oh no.

Maybe he was back home?

I ran back home to check, but no one was there.

“Kikwang oppa?” I was freaking out now. What if something bad happened to him? What if he got lost? But it was impossible! He went to the grocery store himself before!

“Kikwang oppa, where are you?”

Yoseob’s POV:

[The next morning…]

I opened my eyes.

Strange…what happened?

Where was I?

“Oh, good, you’re awake.” The nurse smiled at me.

“Where am I? What happened?”

“You’re at the hospital. You fell down a flight of stairs and hit your head. Luckily, you suffered no serious injuries, so you can be discharged today. What’s your name?”

“Yoseob. Yang Yoseob.”

“Okay, Mr. Yang, we’ll contact your parents right away.” The nurse smiled and left the room.

I had absolutely no recollection how I fell, or what happened to me before that.

The last thing I remembered was leaving the house to meet my future bride or something.

Weird…

[An hour later…]

“Yoseob!” My parents ran in to greet me. Great.

My mom hugged me tightly. “Oh Yoseob! We finally found you!”

“Huh” I wrinkled my nose in confusion. “What do you mean ‘found me’? Where did I go? What happened?”

“Don’t you remember, sweetie? You’ve been missing for more than a month now! Ever since the day you had to meet Lucica, your Fiance! I called her parents and realized you didn’t even turn up for the dinner! Where did you go?”

“WHAT? I was missing for more than A MONTH?”

Wait.

Why couldn’t I remember anything that happened before I fell down that flight of stairs?

Why could I only remember going to meet Lucica? Why couldn’t I remember what happened to me in the past month?

I frowned. “I…I can’t remember anything. All I remember was going to meet Lucica…and waking up in the hospital…”

“Never mind, honey! It doesn’t matter!” My mom smiled sweetly. “All that matters now is that you’re back home, and you can get married to Lucica asap! Thank goodness we found you on time! Her parents were so angry with us, they were almost going to cancel their partnership with us!”

I knew it. They weren’t really concerned about me.

They were just concerned about their company. And their money.

Wait…

I looked at the hat beside me.

“What’s this?” I asked, pointing to the hat that looked like a bear beside me.

“Oh that?” My mother frowned. “I don’t remember buying something like that for you…it looks way too cheap, like something from a random street stall. And it’s so ugly! I’ll throw it away for you!”

“NO!” I said, stopping my mum. I thought it was really cute. And when I looked at it, I felt this…connection. This warm feeling in my heart.

Maybe this is a clue about what happened to me in the past month, I thought.

“It’s okay, umma. I’ll keep it.”

“If you say so…”

IU’ s POV:

I spent the whole of last night, searching the entire neighbourhood, but I still couldn’t find Kikwang oppa.

Where was he? What if something bad happened to him? What if he got lost? Or worse, kidnapped? Ahhhhh, Lee Ji Eun! Stop scaring yourself! He’s totally fine! He’ll be back! He’ll be back!

So I stayed at home, waiting for him anxiously.

But no one came.
