Chapter six:

Yoseob’s POV:

When I fell into the river, my first instinct was to kick.

I had no idea if I knew how to swim, but judging from the fact that I could keep myself afloat, I probably had learnt it before.

Suddenly, I saw Ji Eun jump in after me.

“Ji Eun!”

I remembered her mentioning to me that she couldn’t swim. Oh no!

I saw her a few meters in front of me, struggling in the water. She was going under.

“Ji Eun!” I immediately started swimming with all of my might towards her. I grabbed her and swam back to the shore.

“Ji Eun! Ji Eun! Are you okay?” I shook her desperately. “Wake up! Wake up!”

She coughed out some water, and looked at me weakly.

“You’re…you’re okay…” she smiled, and fainted.

Aishh…she almost drowned and she was still thinking about my safety? This girl…

I gently scooped her up, bridal style, and carried her back home.

IU’s POV:

Ughhh…what happened?

I opened my eyes, and saw Kikwang coming in, with a bowl of hot soup.

“What…what happened?”

“You pabo!” Kikwang groaned. “Why did you jump in after me?”

“I…I wanted to save you…” I protested.

“I could swim! How could you risk your own life? You pabo!”

“Thanks for…saving me.” I smiled weakly at him. “Achoo!” I sneezed.

He laughed. “You sound like a hamster! A silly little hamster!”

I started coughing. He immediately patted my back, concerned.

“Ah, look at you! Sick already! Open wide~” He fed me a mouthful of soup. “I made it myself! Surprised?”

“Mmmm…” It tasted delicious. “This is good~ Are you sure you made this?”

“Yah! You’re sick and you still have the mood to make fun of me!” He frowned.

“I’m just kidding, thanks Kikwang oppa~” I tried to copy his aegyo.

He patted my head. “Good girl. Now I don’t want you doing anything for the rest of the weekends! You’ll just stay here and I’ll take care of everything!”

“But…” I protested weakly.

“No buts! Now stay here and let me feed you soup!” Kikwang fed me another mouthful of his delicious soup.

“Araso…” I pouted.

Kikwang oppa spent the whole day trying to make me laugh with his silly aegyo, and reading me storybooks like a baby.

“Yah!” I complained. “I’m not a baby, you know!”

“Then stop acting like one!” He grinned. I remembered those words. I said them to him in the hospital. “Once upon a time~”

“Ughhhhh” I groaned.

“Too bad” He stuck out his tongue at me. “You can’t do anything~”

“Oh yeah?” I said as I threw pillow at him. “Take that!”

“Oh you’re so dead!” He tackled me and tickled me until I begged him to stop.

“Ji Eun ah, mianhe…” Kikwang oppa said softly after tickling me.

“What are you sorry for?” I wrinkled my nose.
“It’s me and my stupid memory!” He hit his head angrily. “I’ve caused you so much trouble. You needed to pay for my hospital fees, my clothes, my expenses, everything! And now you almost drowned because of me! I’m sorry, Ji Eun. Rest assured I’ll try to regain my memory as fast as possible so as to not trouble you any further…”

He looked so angry, and so guilty. I couldn’t stand it. I sat up.

“Yah, Kikwang ah!” I reprimanded him. “Don’t ever say something like that again! Before you came, I was lonely. I could only depend on myself. You can’t imagine how that feels. I had no friends, no relatives, no nothing! No one ever cared for me! But then…you came….I could talk to you,  you truly cared for me. I felt like I finally had someone to depend on! In fact…” I blushed slightly. “I think meeting you was the best thing that’s ever happened to me…You don’t know how scared I am, how much I wish you could just forget everything in your past, and stay with me forever. But one day…you’ll be gone…and I’ll be alone again…”

He looked at me, and slowly smiled.

“You know what, Ji Eun?” he said, hugging me. “That was exactly what I thought. I thought that if one day, I regain my memory, I would have to leave you…and I….I really don’t want to, Ji Eun…You’ve been so nice to me, and I love spending time with you….I promise, if I ever regain my memory back, I’ll drag you with me to my family and continue to live with you, because…because I like you…” He blushed.

Kikwang oppa liked me too?

“I…I didn’t realize it until today, when you jumped in after me. I was so worried, and I felt that if you really had drowned, there was no point in living anymore.”

“Pabo.”

“What”

“Pabo! Don’t say things like that! Don’t curse yourself. I promise, I’ll never leave you, oppa.” I smiled at him, hugging him even tighter. He was so soft, so a teddy bear. “Because…because I like you too.”

Oh my goodness, did I really say that?

Apparently I did, because Kikwang oppa beamed and started lifting me off the ground and spinning me in the air.

“Really? REALLY REALLY REALLY?” He beamed.

“Duh! Reallyreallyreally!” I said, giving him a quick peck on the cheek to prove it.

I can’t describe his reaction next. He started jumping up and down and up and down around the room, giddy with happiness. Then he started singing, “she kissed me~ she kissed me~She reallyreally kissed me~”

Aishh…what a kid…

What an adorable kid…

Yoseob’s POV:

“She kissed me~ She kissed me~” I sang for the billionth time.

“Yah, Kikwang!” She groaned. “If you don’t stop singing that ridiculous song I take that kiss back!”

“Too bad” I stuck out my tongue at her. “Because you kissed me~ you kissed me~”

She groaned and plopped back down onto the mattress.

I was absolutely glowing with happiness for the rest of the day. I couldn’t believe she actually kissed me! And that she actually liked me too!

“Does that mean we’re boyfriend-girlfriend now?” I grinned and asked her when we were about to sleep

Her eyes widened. “WHAT? NO WAY! Don’t push it!”

I pouted. “But…but I wanna be your boyfriend! Pretty pleaseeeeee?” I looked at her with my signature puppy dog eyes.

“Aishhh!” She swatted me away. “You know that doesn’t work on me!”
I nudged her again, trying my best.

“Aigoo!” She squealed. “Ahh, you win! Call us whatever you want!” She pouted.

I pinched her cheeks. “Yayyyy~ I win! I win!”

“If you dare to sing that song I’ll immediately break up with you!” She warned me.

I zipped my lips shut and plopped down beside her, causing her to laugh.

“Come here!” She suddenly pulled me beside her, onto the mattress. “There’s space for the two of us!”

“Really? You don’t mind?” I asked her shyly.

“Not at all, my dear boyfriend!” She replied dryly. Then she cuddled me. “Actually, I just wanted to cuddle you. You’re so soft, and so comfortable…” she yawned.

Before I could reply, she was fast asleep, hugging me tightly.

I chuckled, closing my eyes and falling asleep quickly beside her.

It felt perfect.
