Kidnapped

Memories

Chapter twenty:

IU’s POV:

I sold my house in Incheon and bought back my old house in Seoul.

We spent the whole day moving the furniture from Incheon to Seoul. Thank goodness I didn’t own too many.

By the time we were done, it was almost midnight. We were exhausted.

“Good night, Ji Eun.” Yoseob smiled at me before he closed his eyes.

“Good night, Yoseob.” I smiled, snuggling beside him and closing my eyes.

No one’s POV:

Unknown to them, two men were waiting patiently outside their door, waiting for their chance to break in.

At 2am, they broke into the house quietly, heading towards the sleeping Ji Eun.

IU’s POV:

I was a really light sleeper, so when I heard noises at the door, I immediately woke up.

My eyes were really tired, so my vision was blurred.

I could only make out two burly men running towards me.

I was about to open my mouth to scream when one pressed a drug-soaked cloth over my mouth.

“Mmph!” I tried to make enough noise to wake Yoseob up, but no such luck. He was such a heavy sleeper. “Mmmphhhh!”

Wake up, Yoseob!

Someone’s trying to kidnap me!

Save me! Wake up, Yang Yoseob!

Help!

I started to see stars. My head was getting woozy.

My eyes were getting heavy.

I struggled limply, but had no energy left.
The taller one threw me over his shoulder and walked down the flight of stairs. I whimpered weakly, trying to call for help.

Not that anyone could hear it. There was no one out so late at night.

A large, black van was waiting for me outside the building.

The men stuffed me in the back of the van.

That was the last thing I saw before I finally out.

Yoseob’s POV:

I woke up.
“Good morning Ji Eun~” I sang as I sat up sleepily, yawning.

I looked over beside me. Hmmm. She wasn’t there. She was probably in the bathroom.

I walked towards the bathroom. The door was open.

I frowned and checked the kitchen. She wasn’t there either.

How could she leave without waking me up? She was so dead when she came back.

But…didn’t she promise me she would never leave my sight?

Maybe something urgent cropped up?

Or maybe…

No, Yoseob! Stop being so paranoid. She’s totally fine. Nothing happened to her. You’re over thinking this.

I was going to head out to find her. I grabbed the keys and turned the lock.

Wait.

The key didn’t fit in the lock.

The lock was broken.

And the door was unlocked.

That could only mean one thing.

Someone had broken in.

OH. MY. GOSH.

I ran out of the house.

“Ji Eun!” I cried desperately, hoping that she would miraculously appear in front of me. “Ji Eun!”

I checked the grocery store. I checked the neighbourhood. I checked the food street. I even checked the park.

She wasn’t there.

This is all my fault.

How could I be so stupid to let her get kidnapped?

What if she was in trouble?

What if she was hurt?

But…who could have kidnapped her?

……

OH. MY. GOSH.

-FLASHBACK-

“YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS! YOU AND THAT GIRL! YOU’LL REGRET THE DAY YOU EVER CHOSE TO LEAVE ME!”

-END OF FLASHBACK-

LUCICA.

I ran over to her house immediately and banged the door.

A servant answered the door.

I barged in, ignoring the servant’s cries of protest.

“Lucica Ma!” I yelled. “Come out here NOW!”

“Yoseob?” I heard a familiar, high-pitched voice.

Lucica ran down the stairs.

“Yoseob? You came back for me!” She beamed, giving me a big hug.

I pushed her away, and gave her a tight slap.

“Tell me,” I growled. “What have you done with Ji Eun?”

She stumbled back, obviously shocked.

“Y-you…slapped me?”

“Answer the question!”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Ji Eun disappeared today!”
“SO?!? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SLAP ME?”

“Well, obviously your family did something to her! Let her go! Or else…”

“Yang Yoseob! What are you talking about? I didn’t touch THAT GIRL!” Lucica screamed, frustrated.

“CUT THAT INNOCENT ACT! LET JI EUN GO!”

Lucica took a deep breath.

“I’m telling you one last time. I didn’t do anything to Ji Eun. I can swear on it.”

“But yesterday, you said…”

“Yes, I said you would pay. But I would never kidnap her. That’s illegal, you know? You could get sentenced to death for it.” She rolled her eyes. “Do you really think I’d go through this risk just to get you back?”

She had a point.

And, judging by the confused look on her face, she was probably telling the truth.

But in that case…

Who kidnapped Ji Eun?
