Chapter twelve:

“Ji Eun!” I yelled as I saw her rolling towards the edge of the hill.

I sprinted towards the hill, but I was too late. She fell down the hill, landing in the river below.

WAIT.

WAITWAITWAITWAITWAIT.

This seemed way too familiar.

Way too familiar.

River…

My head…

Ughhh….

OH.

MY.

GOSH.

I remembered.

I remembered everything.

I remembered falling down the stairs and hitting my head.

I remembered waking up in the hospital, to find Ji Eun.

I remembered how the doctors told me that I had lost my memory.

I remembered how scared I was about not having anyone to depend on

I remembered how Ji Eun voluntarily took me in.

I remembered our first day out together.

I remembered our first day of work

I remembered our first outing, how she almost drowned trying to save me

I remembered her confession, about how she liked me

I remembered her peck on my cheek

I remembered how I left to the grocery store to buy kimchi one day when my foot slipped.

OH MY GOSH.

“Ji Eun!” I yelled as I jumped into the water after her.

Don’t worry, I’ll save you again.

Ji Eun was already struggling underwater, and she was going under.

I frantically swam towards her and pulled her to the river bank.

She was unconscious, not moving at all.

“Ji Eun!” I shook her frantically. “Ji Eun! Wake up! Wake up!”

She didn’t budge. She wasn’t breathing.

“Ji Eun!” I shook her desperately, on the verge of tears. I started using CPR on her, trying to push the water out.

She coughed, water rushing out of .

I heaved a huge sigh of relief. I was this close to losing her for good.

“You pabo! Once wasn’t enough? You had to scare me twice?”

She smiled weakly. “You…you…remember? You…finally remember?”

“Pabo!” I scolded her. “Major pabo! Of course I remember! Aishh…”

She smiled happily. “Yay!”

I sighed, laughing at her silliness. “Come on! Let’s get you back home!” I gently helped her up.

She took a few steps, but her knees buckled and she fell.

I immediately grabbed her to prevent the fall. “Come on,” I crouched in front of her. “Get on my back”

She hesitated. “It’s okay!” She protested. “I can walk!”

I rolled my eyes playfully. “Yeah right. Now get on!”

She got onto my back. I pretended not to be able to lift her up.
“Ughhh…” I groaned. “You’re so heavy…”

She must have thought I was serious, because she hopped off my back frantically, landing on the floor with a ‘thud’.

“You pabo! I was kidding!” I helped her up and gave her a piggyback ride.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and rested her chin on my shoulder.

She fell asleep quickly.

Aishhh…that girl.

No one’s POV:

[Meanwhile…]

Unknown to Yoseob, there was a man hiding behind a bush, spying on him.

“Yang Yoseob,” He smirked. “You are so dead…”

IU’s POV:

I woke up dizzily.

Did that really happen?

Or was it just a dream?

I opened my eyes, and saw Yoseob at my bedside, sleeping soundly.

So it happened! He really did remember me!

And he looked so cute when he slept! How I missed that face.

I gave him a gentle nudge.

He yawned, rubbing his eyes.
“Ji Eun!” He squealed, giving me a hug.

Time to get revenge.

“Who are you and what are you doing in my house?” I screamed, trying my best to look as terrified as possible.

He frowned. “I’m Yoseob! Don’t you remember me?”

“Yo…Yoseob?” I wrinkled my nose. “Huh?”

He looked genuinely scared. Good.

“Yoseob! Your boyfriend? Yoseob? Please don’t tell me you don’t remember me!” He begged.

He suffered enough.

“Hmm…well…I might remember you if you gave me something to eat~”

He looked extremely relieved. “Yah you! What was that for?”

“That was for forgetting me and making ME worried!” I pouted.

He tickled me. “You’re horrible! Say you’re sorry! Now!”

I laughed and gave him a quick peck on the cheek again. “Sorry, Yoseob oppa!”

“I think we can do better than that.” He smiled and gave me a kiss.

A real kiss

I could feel all his emotions flowing in that one kiss.

His relief, his happiness and his longing for me.

That kiss was perfect.

“I love you, Ji Eun” Yoseob whispered, after the kiss.

“I love you too, Yoseob oppa” I smiled, pulling him in for another kiss.
