Chapter three:

Yoseob’s POV:

“I think I’ll call you…Kikwang!”

Kikwang! I had a name! This was awesome!”

“Do you..like it?” Ji Eun asked me catiously.

“Like it? I love it! I have a name now!” I hugged her happily.

“Umm…I glad you like it?” She was obviously a little surprised. But she was smiling, too.

“Oh yeah! Come on!” She tugged my hand. “Let’s go out!”

“Why? Where?”

“To buy clothes and basic necessities for you, pabo!” She rolled her eyes playfully and teased. “What do you think, you can live on one set of clothes and one pair of shoes? Or would you prefer to wear my clothes?”

I winced. Although I didn’t really remember anything, I was positive that if I ever got caught being seen in girl’s clothing, I’d probably be the laughing stock of Korea.

So we left the her house, and took the bus to the street market.

It was extremely funny shopping with Ji Eun. She could bargain her way to prices which were ridiculously low.

“How much for this shirt?” She asked the salesman, holding up a white T-shirt.

“15 dollars, miss.”

“10?” Ji Eun tried.

“14?” The man suggested.

“10?” Ji Eun tried again, this time looking at the man with her huge, puppy dog eyes.

“12?”

“10?” Ji Eun now made her voice extremely sweet, smiling adorably at the man. “Pretty please ahjussi?”

The man couldn’t resist her aegyo anymore. No one could resist such cuteness!

He chuckled.

“Araso…ten it is, just for you!”

“Kamsamida!” She smiled sweetly.

We were almost done with all my clothes when we walked past a stand selling adorable animal hats.

“Awwww…” Ji Eun cooed. “They’re so cute!”

She tried on an adorable, white, fluffy bunny hat.

Omo! She looked so cute! Especially with her pale skin and rosy cheeks. AHHHHH!

“Try this on!” She tried to place a soft, brown teddy bear hat on my head but was too short to do so.

Awww…

I bent down slightly so she could place the hat on my head. It felt so comfortable and warm.

“Aigoo!” She giggled. “Kikwang oppa, you look like a little baby bear!”

“Ahjussi, how much for these two hats?”

“20 dollars!”

Somehow, she managed to bargain her way to 10 dollars. Woah, she was good.

We were walking along the streets when suddenly, her stomach grumbled.

“Whoops,” She laughed, embarrassed.

“Oh!” I hit myself on the head. “I totally forgot! You didn’t eat any breakfast! You must be starving now! Come on, let’s go for lunch!”

Lunch was really interesting. Since I lost my memory, I had no recollection of food. Ji Eun brought me to a food street, where there were many different stalls selling food.

“Ooh!” Ji Eun said, dragging me to the stall ahead. “Dukbokki! You’ll love it! Ahjussi, one bowl of Dukbokki, please!”

Ji Eun came back with a bowl of dukbokki.

“It’s hot and spicy rice cakes! Come on! It’s awesome! Open wide~”

She fed me one. It tasted so good.

“You like?” She smiled.

I nodded, happily muching on my dukbokki.

“Ahh~” I imitated Ji Eun, feeding her a mouthful of dukbokki too.

She giggled. “Aishh…you…”

After getting some ice cream, we went back to her house.

“Oh, now I have to make kimchi fried rice!” She immediately went to the kitchen.

“Why?” I asked. “Didn’t we just have lunch?”

“I have to bring them to the food street to sell tomorrow!”

“That’s what you do for a living?”

“Yeah…” she looked a little embarrassed. “It’s not much, but I survive…”

She looked kind of embarrassed that she was poor. I didn’t think it was anything to be ashamed of.

If anything, I thought it was amazing how she was still willing to take me in, when she barely earned enough to support herself.

But at the same time, it was pretty stupid.

“Pabo,” I hit her arm slightly.

“What?”

“You can barely earn enough to support yourself, why did you take me in? Aishh…you’re so silly! But it’s okay, I’ll help you earn twice the amount of money you did! No, more than that!”

Ji Eun laughed. “Come on! You? Cook? Please!”

“You’re so on!”

We spent the whole of the afternoon preparing kimchi fried rice.

Hey, cooking wasn’t that hard. I got it after a few tries!

It was actually really fun, especially with Ji Eun. She would make me taste the fried rice for her.

Her cooking was daebak!

“Here, try mine!” I fed her a mouthful of the fried rice I prepared.

She made a face.

“Is it that bad?” I asked, worried.

“I can’t believe it! Yours is almost as good as mine! This is so unfair! You just learnt how to cook today!” She pouted.

“Awwww…and who was the one who said I couldn’t cook?” I teased.

“Hey!” She smacked my arm. “You just have a good teacher, that’s all!”

Before I knew it, my first day in Ji Eun’s house had passed and it was nighttime.

I was so tired, I didn’t realize I was yawning.

“Kikwang oppa! You’re tired! Go sleep now!” Ji Eun said, trying to pull me onto the mattress.

“Nice try,” I laughed. “Don’t forget the deal!”

She sighed. “Aishh…araso…” she rolled onto the mattress, like a little puppy.

“Happy? Good night, Kikwang oppa!”
“Goodnight~”
