I miss you

Memories

Chapter ten:

IU’s POV:

Lee Ji Eun, get a grip on yourself!

He’s gone. The Kikwang oppa you knew is gone!

The adorable, sweet, caring oppa you knew is gone!
Face the facts and move on!

Ever since Kikwang, or Yoseob, slapped me that day, I had been trying to convince myself to move on.

But I couldn’t.

He wasn’t like that. Something was wrong.

I tried. I tried to get rid of him from my life.

I threw away everything that reminded me of him.

I took up extra jobs – milk delivery at dawn and late night shifts at the grocery store.

I barely got any sleep at night.

I thought that if I made myself busy enough, I would stop thinking of him.

All that made me was exhausted. And totally drained out

I didn’t know how long I could continue keeping this up.

If I continued draining myself out, maybe I’d just forget about him.

It was another typical day, and I left for milk delivery, skipping breakfast as usual.

After milk delivery, I carried my heavy basket of kimchi fried rice and headed to the food street as usual for business.

I was so exhausted.

And I was starving.

The basket was so heavy…

The road was so long…

If only I had a steaming bowl of dubokki in front of me right now…

If only I had a soft, comfortable bed.

If only I could go to sleep forever, and never wake up…

My head…it was so heavy…

I felt my eyelids flutter

My knees buckled

The last thing I remembered seeing was Yoseob running towards me before I out.

Yoseob’s POV:

It had been a week since I last saw the girl.

I couldn’t take it.

I needed to see her.

I wanted to find out, once and for all, what exactly happened between us.

So I left the house early today, heading to the food street to find her. Anyway, it’s not like anyone would notice my absence.

When I arrived at the food street, I saw a petite girl stumbling towards the food street. She was carrying a heavy basket, obviously exhausted.

She looked really familiar

In fact, she looked really really familiar.

It was that girl I wanted to meet.

I was about to approach her when suddenly, she dropped her basket.

Her knees buckled as she fell onto the floor, unconscious.

When I saw her collapse, I immediately started running towards her. It was a natural instinct.

I gasped.

She looked ridiculously pale, the slight blush on her cheeks totally faded away. Instead of looking petite, she looked emaciated now, like she hadn’t been eating for days. She looked so sick, and so exhausted.

I gently scooped her up from the floor. The feeling of her in my arms was so…comfortable.

I looked at her. Even when she was unconscious, she still looked so innocent.

So adorable.

So beautiful.

“Yoseob?” She was murmuring.

“Don’t leave me…I…I miss you…” Her small, cold hand clutched my arm weakly.

“I won’t” I promised her as I carried her into my car, strapping her into the front seat.

“Promise?”

“Promise” I assured her.

She smiled, contented, and fell asleep.

I couldn’t resist smiling too. She looked so sweet when she smiled. I gave her a quick kiss on her cold forehead before driving off.

IU’s POV:

This felt so nice.

I was lying on something extremely soft, like cotton candy

And it was so warm in here…So comfortable.

Wait.

I opened my eyes

Where was I?

The room was extremely big, much bigger than my whole house combined.

In fact, the bed was already bigger than half of my house.

How did I get here?

I was on my way to work, I was positive.

Suddenly, the door opened.

Yoseob walked in, carrying a tray.

He smiled when he saw me.

“Good, you’re awake.”

“What happened?” I briefly forgot that I was supposed to be angry at him.

He sat on the edge of my bed.

“You fainted on your way to work, so I brought you here.”

Oh. Now I remembered.

I also remembered what a jerk he was from our last encounter.

But today…

“Here,” He said, gently feeding me a mouthful of porridge. “You must be hungry. Eat.”

“No, it’s okay.” I shook my head. I vowed not to think about him anymore. Letting him feed me would just bring back all those memories. “I’m not really hungry.” But apparently, my body refused to play along with me, and my stomach had to choose to grumble right when I said that.

Yoseob chuckled. How I missed that laugh.

“Yah, you! Still trying to be strong? Look at you! You’re so pale, and you lost so much weight! Eat!”

I couldn’t help it.

I had to quickly end this, before I fell for him again.

“Why do you care about me?” I asked him coldly. “Didn’t you say that I was ‘none of your business’?”

I was shocked how cold my voice sounded. But I had to do it.

He sighed.
“Look, about that…” He said softly. “I’m sorry. You met me at the wrong time. I was furious, and it was a bad day. But I shouldn’t have taken out my anger on you. I’m sorry…”

He looked so sincere, I couldn’t be cold anymore.

“What happened?” I asked him gently.

He clenched his fist, obviously still angry.

He told me everything.

He told me that his parents had never cared about him ever since he was young, and that they were always too busy with meetings and work.

He told me that ever since he was young, he never had any real friends, because no one dared to be friends with Yang Yoseob, the successor of a huge company.

He told me that people always treated him as Yang Yoseob, the son of a billionaire instead of Yang Yoseob, the person.

Then he told me about Lucica, the daughter of another big company in Seoul.

How his parents were making him marry her just so their companies could work together and earn more money.

He was ranting about how his parents only cared about money, and didn’t care about his feelings.

“I mean, how could they do this to me?” He ranted. “How could they make me marry someone I barely know? Just so they could earn money? They’re just selling me off!”

“Do you like her? Lucica I mean?” I asked, afraid to hear the answer.

He rolled his eyes. “Please. That girl is a pain, I tell you.”

He then went on to tell me about how annoying she was, and basically the whole lunch date with her. He went on to imitate her high-pitched voice, and her walk. He even started talking like her, boasting about his ‘achievements’ and ‘money’. I was giggling the whole time, extremely relieved that he disliked this Lucica girl.

“So,” He looked at me with big, puppy dog eyes. “Do you forgive me?”

Awwwwww…he was using his aegyo again!

It was so adorable.

“Hmmm…I don’t know…” I pretended to think about it.

“Pretty pleaseeeeeeee?” He tried again, nudging me like a little puppy.

My giggle gave him the answer.

“Good,” He smiled. “Now eat.”

So I let him feed me the delicious food.

“Who cooked this food?” I asked him.

“The cooks”

“Yeah, it tastes so good, how could it be made by you?” I tried to hide my disappointment with humour.

He burst out laughing. “I was just kidding! I made it! And you admitted that it was good! Haha~ Haha~”

I smacked him, feeling extremely happy inside. “Aishh…you!”

“Thanks for listening to me” He said quietly, feeding me another mouth of food. “No one has ever genuinely listened to what I had to say before. In fact, I’ve never actually confessed this much to anyone before…So thank you…it’s really nice talking to you, you know?”

I smiled. “Whenever you ever need to talk, you know where to find me.”

“By the way…” He asked. “What happened between us? How did you know me?”

I sighed.

He couldn’t remember me anyway, no matter how much I told him.

In fact, telling him would probably just complicate matters.

There was no point.

I might as well start over with him, as friends this time.

“Nothing much,” I lied. “I just knew you briefly.”

I realized how stupid that lie must have sounded, because a week ago, I was ranting about all the things I missed about him.

Apparently he was thinking the same thing as me, because he frowned.
“But if you knew me briefly, how…how…”

“Let’s just say…we were close.” I sighed, trying to change the topic. “It doesn’t matter, since you don’t remember anyway. Let’s start over, okay? I’m Lee Ji Eun!”

“Ji Eun…Ji Eun…” He was murmuring, wrinkling his nose.

I wanted to change the topic as fast as possible, so I playfully distracted him using my aegyo.

“Yoseob oppa,” I whined. “I’m hungry. Feed me!”

He couldn’t help laughing. “Your aegyo is pretty cute, but…”

“But what?”

“But not as cute as mine!” He puffed his cheeks adorably.

I rolled my eyes playfully. “Aishh, you! It doesn’t work on me~”

“Really?” He asked, tickling me. “Say I’m cute! Say I’m cute!”

I was about to give up when the door opened.

A girl barged in.

“Who the hell are you?” She glared at me.
