Chapter twenty-one:

IU’s POV:

I was awakened by the sounds of the door opening.

I was being tied tightly to a chair, and gagged with duct tape.

Some men walked in.

“There you are,” the middle one chuckled. He seemed to be the leader of the gang. He pinched me cheeks.

“Aren’t you a sweetheart? No wonder Yang Yoseob wanted to marry you. Look at you, you’re adorable!” He ruffled my hair. I glared at him, squirming away from his reach.

“I know you’re probably wondering why we kidnapped you.”

He peeled off the duct tape roughly. It stung. Badly.

“Do you remember the KimChong food industries?”

I nodded again. The KimChong food industries went bankrupt a few years ago. I had no idea what happened to the president, but I heard rumours about how he became a begger.

“Well, I’m Lee KimChong, the president of KimChong food industries.”

I gasped.

“I used to be rich. Really rich. My company was doing so well. We worked together with the Yang Food Industries, and earned tons of money.” His face suddenly turned black.

“But then. Our company faced economic crisis a few years ago. We just needed some money to bring it back up, but the bank wouldn’t lend us the money. So naturally, we went to our partner company, the Yang Food Industries, and asked them for a loan. Do you know what they said?” He was furious.

“They told me that my crisis was none of their business! They said they had no obligation to help me. They abandoned our company cruelly! So, we collapsed. We went bankrupt. I became a beggar for so long. Until I got my money back.” He smiled. “And now, I’m ready to get revenge.”

“But what does this have to do with me?”

“You didn’t do anything wrong.” He looked at me, almost with pity. “The worst mistake you ever made in your life was simply just to get involved with Yang Yoseob.”

“But…he didn’t do anything wrong! His family did!” I protested.

“Yeah, but he will have to suffer the mistake his family made. I need revenge. I must have it. They betrayed me. Anyone related to them must suffer.” There was so much hate in his eyes.

“And so,” he continued. “When Yoseob finds out that his dear fiancé is in my hands, he’ll rush over here without hesitation. And then…” He smirked, gesturing to the thugs he hired. “I’ll finally get my revenge.”

“D…Don’t you dare touch him!” I struggled to free myself, but to no avail.

“Touch him? Oh no, I’m going to do things much…MUCH worse than that.” He grinned. “Speaking of Yang Yoseob, why don’t I get him over now?” He started dialing a number.

Yoseob! Don’t pick up. Don’t pick up. PLEASE don’t pick up.

Yoseob’s POV:

I had just left Lucica’s house when my phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

“Annyeonghasaeo?”

“Is this Yang Yoseob speaking?” An unfamiliar voice said over the phone.

“Ne, why?”

“Don’t touch me! Let go!” I heard a familiar voice shriek over the phone.

It was Ji Eun.

“Ji Eun? Ji Eun? Are you there? Can you hear me? Are you alright?”

“She’s in my hands at the moment.” That unfamiliar voice laughed evilly. “And if you don’t do exactly as I say…”

I heard a gunshot being fired.

Oh my gosh.

“DON’T YOU HURT HER!” I yelled into the phone.
“Relax, your girl’s safe. For now. That was just a reminder of what could happen to her if you don’t do what I tell you to.”

“What do you want from me?”

“That’s a good boy. I want you to come to the address that I text you after this call. Come alone. If you dare to bring anyone, or tell the police…”

I could hear sounds of punching coming from the other end. Ji Eun was groaning in pain.

“Ji Eun! Ji Eun! Are you okay? Stop hitting her! I beg you!” I yelled desperately.

“Yoseob!” I heard Ji Eun cry. “Don’t you dare come here! It’s a trap-“

“SHUT UP, YOU LITTLE-“ I could hear another sound of punching. Ji Eun groaned in pain again.

“I’m coming. Wait for me.” I could hear Ji Eun protesting weakly before I hung up.

Ji Eun, I’m coming to save you.
