[Flashback]

 

"Sylvia?" Wes called as he entered his girlfriend's apartment. "Hey, Sylvia, I'm here! I brought your favorite food." He called. He looked everywhere for her, but she was nowhere to be found. 

 

He let out a sigh as he took his phone. "She must have taken overtime again from her part time job..." He though. He called her, but it went straight to her voicemail. At that moment, he became worried and scared. "Sylvia? What happened to you?" He said.

 

As he was trying to reach her phone, he noticed a paper lying on the coffee table. He took it, and read it.

 

"My dearest Wes,

 

I'm sorry for leaving without saying goodbye. It's better for it to be like this. I realized we're both too young to be serious in our relationship. I know you can forget me someday. 

 

Goodbye...

Wes could only stare at the letter. He can't believe that the only girl he love had left him. "Sylvia... No... You can't do this to me!" He said. He dropped the letter on the floor and ran outside the house, hoping to find her.

 

But she's nowhere to be found."

 

[End of Flashback]

 

Wes leaned on the headboard of the bed as he looked outside the window. "After alll this time, you finally came back... Why did you leave me Sylvia?" He thought. He let out a sigh, then looked at the girl sleeping beside her.

 

Sylvia was the only good thing that happened in his life - the one who made him believe love truly exists. They had plans for the future together, until she just left without a trace. He was hurt so bad that he tried to ease the pain by sleeping with different girls. But that void in his heart could never be filled. 

 

He took his phone and called his trusted investigator. "Hello, it's me, Wes. I want you to find someone for me..." He said on the phone.

Sunnee was walking back home all by herself. She knew she should be happy because she made Dylan's wish come true, but she couldn't help but feel heartbroken. 

 

"Sunnee, you brought this to yourself. Stop sulking..." She scolded herself. She noticed she was standing by the convenience store. She deciddd to stop by and buy something to drink. But as she entered, she noticed a familiar figure going out of the store - it was Wes. 

 

"Director Luo?" She called. Wes looked up at her, and smiled. "Oh, it's my sweet little pineapple." He said. Sunnee rolled her eyes at him. "I didn't know that you like going to stores like this." She said. Wes gave her a confused look. "Why not? Instant ramen with cheese, bacon, lots of chili and hotdog sounds enticing for a late night meal. Especially if you pair it with a cold lemon soda." Wes said.

 

Sunnee gave him a confused look. What he said reminded her of Sylvia. "You sound a lot like my friend." She said. Wes just smiled. "Care to join me for a midnight snack?" He asked. Sunnee paused for a while to think. "Hey, it's lonely to eat alone. Accompany me for a while, will you?" He said. She let out a sigh. "Fine. Wait for me. I'll jusy buy something to eat." She said. 

 

After buying a drink and snack, the two of them sat outside the store to eat. While Wes is eating, Sunnee couldn't help but stare at him. "Why do you enjoy such food?" She asked. "Because it's delicious."

"You're like my friend."

"Your friend have a good taste in food."

 

He looked at her, and saw she's having a cup of ice cream. She drizzled it with some maple syrup and chocolate powder. "Oh, and you eat that?" He said. "It's delicious." She said in her defense. "Looks like diabetes to me. You and Dylan's alike." He commented. "Well, you're like my friend, I'm like your cousin..."

"And I think we're compatible, and you should be my girlfriend."

 

Sunnee was shocked at what he said, she spat her drink on him. "What?!" She asked in shock. Wes took a tissue and wiped his face. "I said, you should be my girlfriend." He said. With that, Sunnee let out a laugh. "Hey, I'm serious."

"Are you really? We rarely had interaction, you don't even know me, and you want me to be your girlfriend?!" 

"We can get to know each other while we're a couple."

 

Sunnee laughed as she shook her head. "You're crazy to even think about that." She said. "Well, I accept your rejection now, but I will find ways for you not to reject me again." He said. Sunnee just continued to laugh at him.

It was a special day for The Digital Bear, as that day is the announcement of Yu Meng as their brand ambassador. They set up.an elaborate party for her launch. All of the staff of The Digital Bear is at the party, as well as their clients and important people from Solana Enterprise, including Wes.

 

While everyone was busy welcoming the important guests, Sunnee and Win were tasked to take pictures for publicity. "Hello, Sunnee. I see you are very busy today." Wes said as he approached her. "Oh, hi Director Luo. I'm glad you could attend the launch." She said. Wes looked around the place, and then turned to her again. "Well, seems like it's going to be one hell of a party. I hope you'll get some time to have fun too." He said. Sunnee gave him a polite smile. "I'll try, but for now, I have to work." She told him. "If you decide to have fun, just look for me, OK?" He said. Sunnee just nodded her head. 

 

As Wes was roaming around, he saw that the chairwoman has arrived. He immediately approached her. "Good to see you here, chairwoman." He said to his grandmother. "But of course. I cannot miss this. This is important to Zi Qi." She said. She said. She looked around, and noticed Sunnee as she's taking pictures.

 

"That girl... She looks so familiar..." She thought as she stared at her. Then she shook her head. "No. She's already dead. That can't be her. But..." She thought. Then, she turned to Wes. "Hong Zheng, who is that girl?" She asked, pointing at Sunnee. "Ah, that's Sunnee Yang. The Digital Bear's official photographer." He answered. With that, she let out a sigh of relief. "At least it's not Bai He." She thought.

 

The event started. Yu Meng was introduced to everyone as the new face of The Digital Bear. A preview of her magazine photoshoot was shown to the public, and she was interviewed as well. After the launching event, the party started. While everyone is enjoying, Sunnee and Win are still working as Sunnee is taking pictures and Win is taking videos. Soon after, Wes caught up with her. 

 

"Still working, I see." He told her. "Yes. I wanted to capture everything here at the party." Sunnee said. Her camera then caught Dylan with Yu Meng as they were talking with the chairwoman. As she took pictures, Wes noticed her expression changed to a sad one. "Oh, look at that. The chairwoman is so fond of my cousin's girlfriend. I'm pretty sure, one day soon, she'll ask them to get married." He told her. Sunnee let out a sigh and smiled. "Good for them." She said. "You know, rhe chairwoman never liked any girl for his favorite grandson. If she doesn't come from a good and wealthy family, she won't like her. It's a good thing that Yu Meng came from such family." He added. Sunnee nodded her head. 

 

Then, he let out a smirk. "So, even if there is a chance he likes you, it won't be fruitful. Because the chairwoman will find ways to make you stay away from his heir. So if I were you, forget what you feel for Dylan. Let him be with Yu Meng." He said. Sunnee paused for a while and looked at him. "If you know that will happen, then why do you keep pursuing me?" She asked him. "Simple. I'm not Dylan. The chairwoman will not care who I end up with. What matters is her favorite grandson. She did it before for him, she'll do it again." He answered.

 

This made her curious. "What do you mean?" She asked. "Xing Xing, remember when you were supposed to meet Xiao Xiong one last time?" He asked. Sunnee was Surprised at what he said. "How did-" before she could ask a question, Wes turned his back on her.

The event/party ended, and all the staff from The Digital Bear stayed behind to pack up. "Ah, I could use a cold drink after this!" Xuan Yi said. "Milk tea or a real drink?" Mei Yun asked. Xuan Yi paused for a while. "A cold beer would be nice. While singing my heart out in a karaoke!" She said excitedly. 

 

"Then, why don't we go to a karaoke bar after this?" Megan suggested. "Count me in!" Teddy said. "I'm in for the cold beer." Sunnee said. Just then, Dylan and Yu Meng came. Tailing behind them is Evan

 "Planning for an after party?". He askes. Megan smiled at their boss. "We decided to go at a karaoke bar after this." She said. Dylan let out a smille. "Well, let me know where. I'll just take Yu Meng home, then I'll follow you guys." He said. 

 

Hearing that, Sunnee let out a smile. "Honey, I want to join too." Yu Meng said. Dylan looked at her, and smiled. "Then, let's join them, OK?" He said. As they looked at each other lovingly, the rest cheered and teased them. "You two really look good together, Chief!" Amber said. "True!" Megan agreed. 

 

Sunnee let out a sigh as she continued to pack up. "Sunnee, you're coming, right?" Yu Meng asked. Sunnee looked up at her, and nodded her head. "Well then, we'll see you there." Yu Meng said. Sunnee could only watch as they leave. She let out a sigh. Seeing them together just make her feel sad for herself, especially after what Wes told her. "I'm just glad his grandma accepts Yu Meng. At least, in this lifetime, he'll be happy..." She thought. 

 

"Xuan Yi, I'll help you." Evan said as he approched her. "Aren't you going with Chief?" Xuan Yi asked. Evan let out a smile. "I'm pretty sure Chief wanted an alone time with his girlfriend. For now, let me help you, OK?" Evan said. Xuan Yi smiled and nodded her head. 

 

"Awww... Look at Evan, helping Xuan Yi..." Mei Yun gushed as she leaned to Win. Win rolled his eyes at her. "I'm packing up too. Now, move!" He told her. Mei Yun pouted at him. "Win, you're so densed." She said.

Everyone was having a good time at the karaoke place. The boys were going crazy as they sang (this includes Evan), the girls belted out their favorite song. Sunnee pretended to be happy and enjoy.the night, even though she felt heartbroken seeing Dylan and Yu Meng being sweet to each other. 

 

At one point, she joined Xuan Yi and Mei Yun as they sang a song from Rocket Girls. 

 

"Because as long as I'm alive

I believe I'm definitely prettier than you!"

The three girls sang.

The boys sang and danced on the other hand. Sunnee maybe lauging and smiling at the whole time, but deep inside, she's in pain each time she glances at Dylan and Yu Meng. 

 

"Cheers!" Sunnee shouted as she raised her glass. She would drink up her glass till it's empty, making Win a little worried. "Boss, drink moderately." He whispered to her. Sunnee smiled, and gave him a thumbs up. 

 

"Hey, Sunnee. I haven't heard you sing in a while." Yu Meng told her. Dylan was surprised at what she said. "Sunnee sings?" He asked. Yu Meng nodded her head. "I already sang. With Xuan Yin and Mei Yun." She said. "But I want to hear you sing... Please?" Yu Meng requested. Everyone began to request her to sing. "No way. I'm not a good singer." She said.

 

Dylan let out a smile. "Please?" He asked. Sunnee shook her head. "Even if I give you and everyone a bonus on the next payday if you sing?" He said. She then snatched the microphone and stood up. "All right, I'm gonna sing just this once." She said as she entered her song. Then, she began to sing.

She looked at Dylan, and she saw him gazing lovingly at Yu Meng. She watched as she planted a kiss on her lips. She could only stare sadly at the man she loves as she sings.

At that moment, she felt tears were about to fall from her eyes. She turned her back on everyone and faced the screen. Then, as she continued to sing, tears began to flood her eyes.

That moment, Dylan looked at her. He doesn't know why, but he could feel her pain as she sings. She looked back at him, but as she caught his eyes, she turned her attention back to the screen.

Everyone clapped as soon as the song is over. She went back to her seat, but she became quiet. "And because of that, there's a huge bonus on the next payday." Dylan said. Everyone cheered and thanked Sunnee. "Thank you for singing, Sunnee!" Mei Yun said. Sunnee just nodded her head. "Excuse me, I need to go to the washroom." She said. She stood up and rushed out of the room. 

 

After a while, Xuan Yi noticed that Sunnee hasn't come back. She then nudged Mei Yun. "Hey, Sunnee's taking a long time at the washroom, huh?" She said. "You noticed it too?" Mei Yun asked. Xuan Yi nodded her head. "Let's go look for her." Mei Yun said. They excused themselves, and went to the washroom to find her. 

 

"Sunnee?" They called. Then, they heard someone's muffled cry at one of the stalls. They knocked on it to check if it's Sunnee. "Sunnee? Are you there?" Mei Yun asked. "Oh, I'll be right back. Don't worry about me." Sunnee answered. "Sunnee, is everything all right?" Xuan Yi asked. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Don't worry about me." She said.

 

Mei Yun and Xuan Yi looked at each other. "She's not OK." Mei Yun said. Xuan Yi nodded her head. Xuan Yi knocked on the door again. "Sunnee, we know you're not OK. Let us help you, OK?" Xuan Yi said.

 

They waited for a while, and Sunnee opened the door. Her eyes were puffy from crying. "Oh, Sunnee.." Mei Yun said as they hugged her. "You don't have to hide that you're hurting inside. You have us to listen." Xuan Yi said.  Sunnee couldn't help but continue to cry. 

 

"You know what, let's leave this place, and go to the bar next door so we can talk about this, OK?" Mei Yun suggested. Sunnee could only nod her head.

"I'm in love with Chief..."

 

Sunnee started as soon as she calmed down from crying. "I just couldn't help but fall for him. He's the sweetest guy ever. I thought he felt the same way, but I was wrong..." She continued. She paused for a while as she drank up her drink. "Turns out, he likes Yu Meng, I even helped them be together. But it still hurts, you know... It hurts that he only sees me as a friend..." She said.

 

As she cried again, Xuan Yi consoled her. "Well, now you learned your lesson. Just because a guybis sweet, it doesn't mean that he likes you too!" Mei Yun scolded her. "Don't be to harsh on Sunnee. I could understand what she feels, loving someone and not being loved in return. Sunnee, it's OK to feel hurt. But you have to pick up the pieces and try to move on. Be happy that at least you and Chief are friends." Xuan Yi said. "How do I even forget how I feel for him?" She asked. 

 

She slumped on counter as she cried. "How can I unlove him?" She asked. "We'll help you be busy at work so you won't think of him." Xuan Yi suggested. "Or try dating." Mei Yun suggested. 

 

Xuan Yi looked at her watch, and realized it was very late at night. "Hey, I have to gog

 home..." She said as she collected her bag. "Yeah, I think it's time to go home." Mei Yun said. Sunnee shook her head. "You guys go first. I want to be alone for a while..." She said. The two could only agree to herz and left her alone.

 

She drank some more, until she passed on the bar. It was then that Kai entered the bar. All the while, he had been watching Sunnee from outside. It was a coincidence that he was there to relax, but seeing her crying to her friends made him worried about her.

 

"I'll pay for her bill." He told the bartender. After paying her bill, he carried her out of the bar. As he put her inside his car, he looked at her as she brushed her hair aeay from her face. "You don't deserve to be hurt like this, Sunneee. Don't worry, I'm back. I can take care of yoy now." He told her. Then, he let out a smile. He closed the doord got on the car to drive her home.
