FoolsTaehee smirked seeing the crushed expression on Sehun’s face. She had already foreseen this outcome, and that’s exactly why she is called a genius. Sehun had his head lowered, eyes glancing his result slip occasionally because it was disappointing. For the amount of effort and hard work he put in, he had expected better grades. Throughout his life, he had never given about his grades. Because of Taehee, he decided to work hard and get good grades to prove that he is worthy of being her friends, but his hard work did not translate into the result he wanted.
“So what did you get?”
“Mostly B and C. I didn’t get any A.”
To Sehun, this was probably the best result in his life because he was never close to passing. Thanks to Yujin, he managed to improve. But still, it wasn’t enough for Taehee. To Taehee, she would be lying if she wasn’t shocked by his tremendous improvement from his previous grades. Although she knew that there is no way Sehun would score an A for any subject, he managed to a few Bs, which is just a letter away from A, and that is pretty impressive.
“So, just like what we agreed. Since you didn’t get all A, we can’t be friends.”
Taehee spun around to make a move but was stopped by the tight grip around her wrist. She turned around and flashed a questioning look.
“Is there really no room for negotiation? I really tried my hardest and my best! I even got-”
“Got what?”
“Never mind. I just wanted to let you know that I really put in my very best for this exam. I really hope you can give me a chance to be your-”
“That wasn’t our agreement, was it? Get over it, Oh Sehun. We will never be more than schoolmates,” Taehee cut him off harshly. She had made it clear, so why is Sehun still pestering her? She hates it; she hates people who are irresolute. They have already made an agreement and since Sehun didn’t manage to fulfill her condition, he should leave her alone.
She felt his grip slipping and he let her go of her wrist gradually. The moment his fingers left her skin, she walked away as quickly as possible, while feeling the guilt bubbling inside of her for spitting those harsh words at him. She didn’t mean to, but she feels skeptical about letting people into her life. Especially when that person is a troublemaker. She had to guard her heart.
“Wow, isn’t Oh Taehee too cold-hearted?”
“I have the exact sentiment too, Jongin. That girl’s heart is made of stone.”
Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and Jongin huddled around Sehun to comfort him as they heard about how Taehee denied Sehun the friendship pass. In fact, the whole school heard about it. While girls who are fans of Sehun felt indignant for him, most of the students, just like Taehee, knew it was impossible for Sehun to achieve those unrealistic results.
“She was obviously just playing with you, Sehun.”
Seeing the dejected look on Sehun’s face, Chanyeol put his arm around Sehun and gave him a pat, hoping that he will feel better.
Baekhyun cupped Sehun’s face and squeezed his cheeks, “Yeah, Sehun. Just forget about Oh Taehee, hyung will introduce better girls to you.”
Sehun didn’t think Taehee was playing with him. If he could blame someone, he would blame himself, for not prioritising his studies and not giving a damn about his grades. If he had been more diligent, he would have gotten better results and gotten into the same class as Taehee. He would not end up in the bottom class, which is also the furthest class away from Taehee.
“Hey…”
