Fools"I am really sorry, Taehee."
Junmyeon looked and sounded so apologetic that it only made Taehee feel even more horrible about the situation. She doesn't blame Junmyeon for whatever he did to her last night because he was drunk. Plus, she should be franked with him from the start. Then Junmyeon wouldn't have found out the truth through such a cruel way.
"It's okay, Junmyeon."
"It's not okay. No matter how drunk I am, I shouldn't have tried to... I am really sorry. I hope you don't hate me."
"I would never hate you, Junmyeon," Taehee placed her hand on top of his, "I am the one who should apologise. I am sorry not telling you that I had a divorce and the whole reason why I went to US was to start afresh. My ex-husband, Oh Sehun, cheated on me. But our relationship has gone a long way before that happened. We have been together since high school. He was my everything, he was there during the lowest time in my life, he was just so sweet..."
"But he cheated on you, nonetheless."
Taehee nodded, with a bittersweet smile on her face, "It's funny how life works. When I met you, I thought we would be together. You are so sweet, caring, quirky, and I really enjoy being around you. I did like you, Junmyeon. But when I came back to Korea, I realised that even though I have moved on from the past and I have become a better person away from Sehun, my heart never stops beating for him. He ed up, but I also ed up by breaking your heart, Junmyeon. I am sorry to sound harsh but I don't want to sugar coat my words or lie to you that we still have a chance."
Junmyeon's head sagged down to his chest. So that was it? The first girl that he loves after his wife passed away just confessed that she can't forget her ex-husband. It hurts like mad. It has been so long since he felt the aching feeling in his heart- the last time was when his wife left him and his son behind. During the time spent together, Junmyeon saw a future together with Taehee; they would become official, get married, and have a family together. But it was just his wishful thinking.
"It's hard to understand that, Taehee. He cheated on you means he doesn't love you enough to stay faithful. Why do you still like him?"
Taehee let out a dry laugh, "I don't expect you to understand because I don't have an answer either. You know, everyone is rooting for you and me. I think I am stupid for giving you up for a cheater."
Junmyeon's chuckle vanished as soon as it appeared. Although it to let go of the girl, he would never force the girl to be with him if her heart doesn't belong to him. They say, if you truly loves someone, let that person go.
"It's still not too late."
Junmyeon joked and Taehee was glad that Junmyeon didn't hold any grudges against her. He is indeed a man of big heart, the exact opposite of the childish Oh Sehun who lets his jealousy control his behaviour.
"You deserve better, Junmyeon."
That's honestly the stupidest thing to say to comfort someone who got his heart broken. They always say, "you deserve better", but what exactly defines, "better"? To Junmyeon, Taehee is the best thing that happened to him and all he ever wanted was her.
"But are you really okay with raising the baby that his mistress left behind? I know that you probably would because you are an amazing woman, but are you truly okay with it? Wouldn't the baby remind you of their past actions? Also, what if Sehun broke your trust and cheat on you again?" Junmyeon asked, with a genuine concern look on his face.
Taehee was stumped. Frankly speaking, she has never given a thought about all those yet because she was too occupied with sorting her feelings out. Junmyeon is right, can she really raise Yeri with Sehun and look past the fact that Yeri is partly the reason why her marriage got jeopardised? What if Sehun cheats on her and breaks her heart again? She can't take the same heartbreak twice.
"I am not saying those to stop you from reconciling with Sehun. I just want you to be happy, no matter who you end up with at the end of the day. I am returning to US in a few days' time, you still have some time to consider."
Just when Junmyeon looked ahead to the hotel lobby, he spotted a familiar figure searching for something, more like someone, frantically. Although he has only met the person once, he is very sure that his eyes weren't playing tricks on him.
"Hmm, I think Sehun is here..."
Taehee raised her head in confusion upon hearing Junmyeon's words. She spun her body around to see Sehun walking towards them. Judging at his mismatched socks, he must have left his apartment in a hurry.
"H-Hey..." Sehun stuttered when he arrived at their table.
Taehee grabbed Junmyeon's hand and played with his fingers, confusing Junmyeon and crushing Sehun's heart with her actions, "Yes, Sehun? Junmyeon and I are having a breakfast date, what's up?" She turned to Junmyeon with an affectionate smile, hoping that Junmyeon would play along with her.
"Oh... Sorry to interrupt. I just-" He placed the earring that she dropped at his place, "Came to return you this. I will get going then."
Sehun left straight afterwards. A tiny part of Taehee w
