Fools"I am going out with Jongin tonight, are you happy, Ms Matchmaker?"
Taehee texted a quick reply with her lips curled in satisfaction. She has been pestering Jongin to court Yujin as she strongly believes that there must be sparks between the two of them. When she saw that text, she knew she had successfully persuaded Jongin to make a move. It would be great to finally see her best friend dating someone worth her time and decent and all she prays is for their date tonight to go smoothly, leading to more dates in the future.
She put her phone away immediately when she heard knocks on her door. Her assistant informed her about the arrival of her client before leading her client in. Taehee could recognise the woman in her late thirties immediately when she entered her room. It was her high school homeroom teacher.
"Mrs Kim?" Taehee greeted, "Have a seat!" She led her to the chair in opposite her, "It has been really long! Why didn't I see you at the reunion last month?"
"I had something on. It's great to see you after so long, Taehee. Look at you now, achieving big things as usual, my best student," She then noticed the photo frame next to the table lamp, "I still can't fathom the fact that you got married to the notorious kid, Oh Sehun."
"I know right, Mrs Kim. It was crazy, but he loves me a lot. And so do I."
There were wrinkles forming at the corner of her eyes when she smiled, showing signs of aging. Taehee may not keep in contact with teachers who have taught her but if she had to choose one whom she respected the most, it would be her homeroom teacher. She could still remember the bookmark that Mrs Kim made for everyone in her class to cheer them on for the final exams, aside that, she had different message written, dedicated to each and every student. Even back when she had a heart of stone, Taehee felt touched by her teacher's effort.
"So what brought you here, Mrs Kim."
The pain on her teacher's face was evident and tears started pooling, Taehee could tell that her teacher was trying very hard to hold back "I am here to file for a divorce."
Divorce cases aren't unusual to Taehee and for someone who values professionalism and would never let her personal feelings get in the way, Taehee can't help to feel sorry for her teacher because it was a first time dealing it for someone who is close to her. She shouldn't be the one who persuade her teacher to give a second thought about the divorce because it is not part of her, but she did it anyway. She didn't want her teacher to give up on 12 years of marriage so easily and let it go down the drain. It isn't easy to part with someone whom you have spent almost half of your life with - Taehee knows that best.
"I have never been so sure in my life, Taehee. If I don't do it now, I might regret in the future."
"Why? Why do you want to file for a divorce?"
"He cheated on me. I caught them in a hotel room."
Taehee felt guilt eating her up when she came home to burnt candles, cold steak, and a husband sleeping with his head resting on his arms on the dining table. Four years into this marriage, this sight wasn't uncommon to Taehee and it has happened too many times that Taehee felt like she at being a wife. She tip-toed to her husband and woke him gently.
"Hey, you are back?" Sehun asked, rubbing his bleary eyes as he tried to look at the time on the wall clock.
"I am sorry Sehun, I was stuck at work. I had to settle some documents for the court tomorrow and the dinner slipped my mind."
Sehun sighed. Albeit knowing that she didn't mean to miss the dinner as she had tons of work to do, it hurts him a little to hear his wife saying that she forgot about their candlelight dinner date, which explains why it didn't strike her mind to give him a call to inform him about coming home late.
"It's okay."
That was supposed to comfort Taehee and make her feel less bed, but it didn't. Because she knew it was an instinctive reply from Sehun everytime she forgets about their dates. He was just saying for the sake of saying but it didn't mean it was really okay for him. The disappointment on his face didn't go unnoticed and it made Taehee feel 10 times worse than she already is. When they were still in school, it was easier to hang out and go on dates frequently, but as they started working, even a dinner date is hard to come by. Sometimes it would be Sehun waiting for Taehee to come home, while sometimes, it's the other way round.
She gave her husband a back hug as she leaned her face against his sturdy back, "I am sorry, honey. Don't be mad at me."
Sehun wasn't mad, how can he be mad at his wife when she already had a long day at work? It's not like she had a choice, there are times work just come before anything else and he can totally understand his wife. He turned around her trapped his wife in his arms, inhaling her vanilla scent. How is it that she still smells so good despite being out for work for the whole day?
"I am not mad at you, love. But I would appreciate if you give me a call next time."
Taehee cupped Sehun's cheeks and brought his lips towards her since she was a head shorter than the giant. Sehun laughed into their kiss as he wrapped his arms around her waist tightly to deepen the kiss. They made ou
