Everyone knew Sana and Tzuyu at the office, making the ideal gay couple out of them – sweet and composed Tzuyu and bubbly Sana. Everyone thought that they worked great together. The younger girl shyly smiled as Sana was confirming it with kisses on the cheek. But no one knew how hard it was sometimes for them to cooperate.

Sana wasn’t the type to stay at home and enjoy the nice peaceful atmosphere it was offering. Since school, she loved loud parties and long walks through the city. Now as she became an adult this passion went down a little, but the girl still needed her dose of freedom. Tzuyu was opposite. She wasn’t fond of all this bouncing to the music and drinking and preferred to rest on the couch at her apartment and watch funny TV shows to empty head from various troubles at work.

Still, the couple worked on the relationships to please each other – Tzuyu was going out with Sana on trips to the night clubs and Sana was willingly spending time cuddled into Tzuyu’s arms at evenings and listening to the girl’s heartbeat.

And Jihyo though she couldn’t be more jealous. She was the marketing manager and usually saw the two together – Tzuyu worked at her department while Sana was a part of the accounting department. Jihyo watched the couple interacting as her coffee was making. She couldn’t help but glare at the blonde girl. Tzuyu was a sweet girl with a soft voice and innocent smile and knowing that she was in a relationship with someone like Sana couldn’t proceed in Jihyo’s head.

The first time the youngest came under her department, the girl caught so much attention that other workers were literally pushing people out of this side of the building. Everyone instantly fell in love with her, Jihyo wasn’t an exception. She felt the need to protect the girl and always be near. That’s what she did – building the most comfortable relationships between them and being a great unnie and boss. She hoped that one day she’ll be able to tell about her feelings and maybe Tzuyu would answer her positive, but Sana appeared.

Now as the blonde occupied Tzuyu’s laps and playfully looked at her Jihyo was ready to snap any second. It was lunch time and almost everyone was out, but it wasn’t a place to act like a couple. Jihyo was sure that the youngest understood it well, but she doubted that Sana would notice how uncomfortable it might make other people.

“Miss Chou, come to my cabinet please.” She said, finally having her coffee and opening door to wait for the two to separate.

Sana glanced at her and jumped from the taller one, letting the girl stood up, before pulling her for a long kiss. She then sent a glare at the manager again and disappeared in the corridor. Tzuyu followed the order with her head down, entering the cabinet and sitting on the couch.

“Tzuyu, I know that you’re dating, but it’s still office. Be in your right mind.”
 “I’m sorry, manager-nim. It won’t happen again.”

 ***

Jihyo wasn’t a bad person. She didn’t want to make Tzuyu unhappy, but the CEO asked for the young and creative employees to join the new project – one of each department and the manager just automatically picked up Tzuyu out of all. The girl was really great and everyone expected a lot from her, even the CEO herself noticed the taller one on the first meeting.

But this choice affected Sana a lot – she was always jealous and she wasn’t the one to hold it to herself. Tzuyu was the one who suffered from this – it was hard to calm Sana that already picked up all of her words and was ready to throw a tantrum. Still, she loved Sana and forgave her every single time she did something stupid. This time Sana was unhappy that Tzuyu was stuck at work. They were dating for two years and still didn’t think about moving in together. When Tzuyu was getting free after work, she would head home and sleep the same second she entered the bedroom.

Jihyo grinned as Tzuyu was presenting research to her. Watching the person growing this quickly made her really proud of the girl. She made a few remarks about the data and finally stood up.

“You’re doing so well, Tzuyu-ssi. I’m confident that you can do even better with your project team.” She praised.
 “Thank you, Jihyo-ssi.”
 “Let me buy you lunch.”

 ***

Jihyo was slightly confused to notice that Sana wasn’t coming in their department anymore. She watched Tzuyu carefully, but got no sight of unhappiness in her – she was still laughing with others and smiling brightly. She assumed that the two just had a brief argument or maybe Sana finally understood that she should not care only about herself and she finally started to be more privet about their life.

It was going for a few days now and the older one was sure something was up, but she didn’t want to ask like this. She knew her place and even if she liked Tzuyu as well, she didn’t want to interfere in other one life. She was sure Tzuyu has her own friends with whom she can discuss the matter.

Still, she couldn’t hold it when Tzuyu stayed late one evening, typing on the computer and doing her best. Jihyo watched her from the slightly opened door of the cabinet. The hall was almost dark and the taller girl was still behind her desk. Honestly, Jihyo had to be home already resting and watching her favorite films, but she couldn’t just leave knowing that Tzuyu was still here, struggling on her own. She sighed, slowly getting up and carefully making way to the youngest. The recent catalogue was opened and Tzuyu attentively filled the digits in it, not paying attention to anything. Jihyo sat on the nearby chair watching the concentrated girl.

 “Tzuyu-ssi.” She whispered.

The girl slightly jumped and turned to her, instantly having an awkward smile on her face.

“I’m sorry, manager-nim. I just thought of finishing it earlier.”
“No need to. We still have the whole week before it has to be published.” Jihyo smiled warmly as she looked at the girl. “Why don’t we go home? I can give you a ride.”
 “It is not necessary.”
 “I insist.”

Her smile finally made Tzuyu accept the offer. Jihyo hurriedly went into the cabinet collecting her bag and phone to wait for the other one. She closed the door and turned watching lost Tzuyu trying to locate her stuff in the mess of papers around her. It made Jihyo smile again and her heart happily jumped inside her chest. When she was done, the two went to the lift and Jihyo pressed the lowest floor where the parking lot was located.

She knew exactly where Tzuyu lived, having driven her there several times when she just joined the company. It was a very nice area, unfortunately, close to the office.

“How’s Sana doing? I haven’t seen her for a while.”

She bit her tongue for her curiosity. She swore she wouldn’t interfere.

“Ehm, we had a small argument.”
“Don’t worry, it will be fine. What it was about? Maybe I can suggest something.”

 Someone needs to stop her.

On the traffic light, she looked at the youngest and saw hesitation. Tzuyu glanced at her for a few seconds wondering if the older girl could really help the problem. She was uncomfortable to tell about it to the manager but she didn’t know what to do anymore. Every time she tried to explain it to Sana the blonde one became more furious.

 “I-It’s actually about you.”

Jihyo froze, opening eyes wider. She could imagine hundreds of reasons, but not this one. Tzuyu had her eyes turned to the window in embarrassment and it only confirmed that Jihyo heard her correctly. The car behind them honked and the driver looked around, noticing the green light glowing. She speeded up to leave the area.

“Why me?” She asked after a while.
“Sana is a very jealous one. She thinks you’re getting to close and she thinks I like it.”

Jihyo thought about it. Past few days she was indeed inappropriate. First, she forbid them to act lovely in the office, then she was always around Tzuyu checking on the project and helping her, then they had congratulated the younger one with the successful work and she couldn’t help but hug her. Maybe she acted a bit too close for Sana to snap. And Tzuyu indeed couldn’t say no to her – she was her boss at the end of the day.

“Fine, where does she live? I’ll go there and explain myself.”
 “What?”
“Tell me her address. You were so scared and awkward the first time you came to the company that I couldn’t help to feel the need to protect you. I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean anything bad.”
 “No, manager-nim, it’s…”
 “I want to fix it.”

Jihyo pushed on the younger one again, but she thought what she did was right. She got the address and turned to reach it faster. The day was coming to the end and Sana was probably sleeping, but Jihyo felt her heart burning. She would never fall asleep knowing that she was the cause of Tzuyu’s problems.

Sana lived farther but they reached the apartment block faster without any traffic. Jihyo jumped out of the car looking around and waiting for Tzuyu. She could probably come to the blonde one tomorrow and talk, but she didn’t want others to know and she felt that she needed it now.

She let Tzuyu lead the way, making her speech up in her head. Tzuyu looked uncomfortable while pressing the right floor but Jihyo didn’t notice it at all. They went up and came to the door. Tzuyu searched in her bag for the keys, not even thinking of using the bell. She pulled the key and the door was finally opened.

Jihyo carefully looked around in the darkness. Her eyes caught the mess in the living room, thrown everywhere clothes and packages from food deliveries. She didn’t know if she was allowed to come farther but Tzuyu said nothing while taking the shoes off so Jihyo followed. It was quiet so the older one confirmed her assumptions that the girl was sleeping. Tzuyu left to call for her and Jihyo once again thought about the way to explain things. She was getting her confidence when Tzuyu joined her.

“She’s not home. Come on, let’s leave.” She whispered, gripping Jihyo hard on the arms and pulling to the door.

The manager was confused by the change of mood, but she followed and let the youngest take her away. She didn’t even bother to close the door after they left but Jihyo didn’t question it. They went outside and Tzuyu let her go turning around and shaking. Jihyo knew it wasn’t right. Her heart squeezed. She was afraid to do anything but her heart screamed to hold Tzuyu.

 “Can you take me home?”

Tzuyu’s voice was broken no matter how hard she tried to control it, but Jihyo did what she was told.

 ***

Jihyo quietly observed the girl from the other side of the bench they sat at. It was so late, probably 1 a.m. and Tzuyu was there with a bottle of wine she brought. She cried a lot and Jihyo was too afraid to leave the girl in this condition. She just wanted her to cool the head after drinking the whole bottle and tuck her to bed.

“My mother once said that Sana is not my type. She was always against this relationship. Guess she was right.” Tzuyu laughed bitterly.
“I’m sorry. It was my fault.”
“No, she did it again. The first time she begged for forgiveness. She swore that she would never ruin all of these years we spent together. I can’t forgive her once again.”

Jihyo snapped on the whimper and instantly shifted closer, taking the girl in her arms and giving her the warmth she deserved. She let the taller one wet her shirt and cry in her chest as Jihyo’s heart was breaking in pieces. If she only was able she would do anything to make this never happen.

When Tzuyu calmed down again, Jihyo offered to take her home. They managed to reach the 9th floor and Jihyo struggled to pull the keys while holding half asleep girl. Tzuyu’s home was nice – tidy and comfortable. It smelt unique and the older one was even afraid to ruin this ideal area by her presence here. She pushed the door until it clicked and dragged Tzuyu to the bedroom. Only then she looked at her face – red irritated skin around eyes, puffy cheeks and the whole look of sadness. Jihyo pulled the jacket off, doing her best to cover the girl with a blanket. She was ready to go when a hand gripped on her.

“Jihyo-unnie, let’s do it. She would feel bad too.”

She smiled, taking Tzuyu’s hands in her own and squeezing it.

 “Tzuyu-ya, goodnight.”
 “No, she would come and…”
“And I’ll be here, protecting you from nightmares.”

She kissed the top of the youngest head and lay on the blanket, watching big deep eyes closing. Tzuyu was the meaning of perfection for her. She watched her little angle finally calming down and falling asleep. Her fingers brushed the sharp jaw when she remembers about make-up. She didn’t want to stick into Tzuyu’s personal stuff, but found the wipes and cleaned the youngest face tenderly, afraid to break her.

 ***

She wasn’t able to sleep the whole night. She was not in her house and she didn’t know if it was fine to stay next to Tzuyu or even occupy couch. She just sat in the armchair thinking what to do next. When it was almost 8 she called one of her workers to informed that Tzuyu was ill and she probably forgot that Jihyo was having her day off today and texted her. As it was dealt with she checked the younger one and returned to her precious place.

Tzuyu woke up only at 11 a.m. She jumped from the bed and was ready to remember hundreds of apologizes when she noticed a message on her phone from her colleague. ‘Manager told me that you’re ill. Get better soon, Tzuyu-ya. Fighting.’

She sighed and threw the phone away. Her head was ringing in pain. She whined flopping on the bed again and looking around. The water and pill conveniently were placed on the nightstand. She took it and groaned. Yesterday was such a terrible one. She presented herself in such a bad light in front of Jihyo and she caused her so many troubles. Picking herself up Tzuyu managed to enter the living room. She froze for a second, being scared by the person that slept in the armchair. It took her time to understand that it was actually her boss.

She was thankful Jihyo for everything. Even if sometimes it was unnecessary she still tried to help Tzuyu with everything, not minding any inconvenience it can cause her. She was staying late teaching Tzuyu to use the programs in computer, she was always asking about her health and mental state when the work was getting too hard. Tzuyu thought there couldn’t be any better unnie. And she wasn’t blaming her for anything. Sana knew how much Tzuyu needed the support Jihyo was giving. Tzuyu tried to fix everything – she was ready to give everything for Sana, the blonde one apparently thought differently. Now Tzuyu understood it.

She let the blanket cover Jihyo up and she went to shower to fresh up. Her heart was broken, she felt like part of her soul was taken away, but she definitely wasn’t the one to give up on everything.

She finished her shower and changed clothes. Her phone was glowing – the massage from Sana. Tzuyu opened it. Simple ‘I’m sorry’ after her long one about the betrayal and things they promised to each other. It was the end.

Jihyo almost fell on the floor and it caused her to wake up. She looked around cursing for falling asleep. She wanted to get up and check on the younger one again, but she stood right there, watching her panicking state.

 “You awake?”
 “Yes, I’m sorry for troubles.”
“You’re not a trouble at all.”

Hey exchanged smiles when Jihyo awkwardly sat back and averted her eyes.

“Thank you for staying and looking after me.”
“That’s fine. She does not deserve you. You can find someone way better.”

Tzuyu chuckled. It made Jihyo feel relieved. She grinned when Tzuyu jumped up like a child and stretched her hand forward.

 “Do you want to eat?”

 ***

Tzuyu was devastated and it was noticeable. She felt even worse when people were talking about the situation. Luckily, Sana took it on herself, telling the truth and receiving insults day by day. Tzuyu’s colleagues were the best – they kept pushing intruders out and protecting the younger one all the time. Jihyo played her role as well – she was the main reason why the situation was cooling down and she was the great support for Tzuyu. They would sit in Jihyo’s office for hours after work talking about different things. Tzuyu didn’t feel alone this way and there was no one to remind her about the betrayal. She was doing her best to stay strong all the time. Mainly she was staying late to avoid meeting Sana so Jihyo helped a lot by keeping the company.

There was a day when the two stayed late again drinking tea in the café and talking about life. Tzuyu was the happiest hearing the stories about Jihyo’s sisters. They laughed and all the worries were completely gone like it never presented before. Tzuyu felt so comfortable just staying here.

“And once I tried to steal a rabbit from school because they told me that they let it free in the backyard of the school. I thought it was so cruel. The bunny might get out on the streets. So I tried to save it. But the teacher said they were just joking.”
 “You’re so kind.” Jihyo chuckled.
 “Everyone would do that.”
“But you were the first one. That’s why I love you.”

Her dreamy eyes studied the girl when she had a serious face on. Jihyo shuttered receiving a sudden wave of hotness all over her body.

 “I-I mean… I…”
“Actually I knew it.” Tzuyu turned to stare out of the window.
 “You did?”
 “Yes, it was too noticeable.”
 “Then… will you…”
“I think it’s getting late. I should head home now.”

 ***

Tzuyu stayed in her bed just staring at the ceiling. Her head was occupied with Jihyo. She knew that the manager wasn’t just giving her the support because Tzuyu was young and heartbroken. Even Tzuyu’s friends kept on telling her that this manager had feelings for the taller one. And even if the brunette tried her best to forget it, she couldn’t help but think of all the actions Jihyo did.

The older girl was perfect – her pretty face, nice body, kind heart. She was everything Tzuyu could ask for. But Sana was perfect as well – she put so much effort to get Tzuyu and this went nowhere. Tzuyu didn’t want to be hurt again.

The only thing she knew was the fact that over the time they spent together she felt something for the older girl and this something was making her emotions jump up when Jihyo was near, all smiley and happy.

The whole sleepless night in thoughts and hard morning she spent before heading to work. Jihyo had her day off so Tzuyu was kind of calm. She went early as usual and turned the computer on while arranging her table. She lazily leaned on the chair to relax when Jihyo’s cabinet door opened. The two froze looking at each other.

“T-Tzuyu-ssi, can we talk in my cabinet?”

It looked like Jihyo suffered the whole night as well. Her eyes were irritated and tired and the blanket on the couch showed that she stayed here until now. Tzuyu sat opposite the girl watching her nervously fidgeting fingers and avoiding eyes contact.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I swear I never planned to ruin your relationships…”

She looked cute with a red face. Tzuyu’s heart was melting at the sight. She was so different from Sana – the girl who just came to ask for a date and didn’t take a negative answer. Sana wanted everything to go her way and she was getting very angry if it wasn’t. Jihyo cared for her answer, for her feelings and emotions. Tzuyu knew Jihyo was better.

 “Let’s try it slowly.”
 “What?”

The look of horror ran over her face and she looked so dumbfounded that it became actually funny. Tzuyu smiled gently.

“I like you too, so can we try it slowly?”

 ***

Jihyo never thought that she could be any happier than now. Her heart jumped as everyone was gone and she held Tzuyu’s hand while finishing work. Past few days they went on a couple dates and discovered even more information about each other. Jihyo was absolutely in love. She didn’t want it to end and she tried to do everything to make the youngest happy. It wasn’t hard though, she just was her embarrassing self and Tzuyu seemed to like it. The simple dinner, midnight walks and small gestures – Jihyo was comfortable with it. Certainly, she wanted more – things like cuddles and kisses, staying at each other places and watching TV while enjoying the comfortable warmth of their bodies. But if Tzuyu wasn’t ready for this, Jihyo knew she would wait. Because she was ready to wait forever for this girl.

Sana put the files aside. She was trying to finish it the whole day and now as it was done her body ached from sitting on the chair. She looked at the time, wondering if Tzuyu was still here. It was interesting how they were avoiding each other. Sana would usually hide behind something when the girl would appear on the way, she would always wait for Tzuyu to go home first, before leaving as well. She was fine with it, after everything she’s done, the blonde just wanted to find a new job – people hated her for so long. But she wasn’t able to do it now.

She noticed it before and she knew that Tzuyu was informed – Jihyo was too sweet with the youngest. It was driving Sana crazy all the time she saw the manager in the office. But now as Tzuyu was spending more time with her and Sana couldn’t possibly argue on it, she felt her jealousy rising. Tzuyu was the one that always stood by Sana when it was needed – the time Sana had arguments with parents about her uality, the time Sana was almost fired when she deleted weeks of work and they two sat for three days refilling it. Tzuyu was an ideal girlfriend, the partner everyone wanted to have. They just didn’t fit each other the same way Jihyo fit Tzuyu. And Sana knew she had to accept it. And she had to move on as well. She just needed to make sure she was right.

The office was almost empty – work finished two hours ago. Sana collected her stuff carefully exiting and heading to the lift. She caught a glimpse of Jihyo using it to come down and she felt sad again. Pressing the button for it to come back she massaged her temple. The day was hard. She turned hearing the steps and her heart dropped. Tzuyu froze in front of her, not sure what to do. It was the first time in three months they met. The youngest awkwardly tried to disappear.

 “Tzuyu, how were you?”
“Hm… I’m fine. What about you?”
 “Same.”

 The silence was killing.

 “Are you happy?” Sana smiled.

Tzuyu didn’t know what she should say. She was happy, her heart felt light and she was in comfortable relationships. But Sana’s smile was telling her that it wasn’t the best decision to say it. Moreover, Tzuyu was afraid to be accused of lying about her and Jihyo’s connection when Sana was still her girlfriend. The lift opened and Sana went in, gesturing for the other to step as well.

“I’m happy for you. You’re doing so great.” She turned to face Tzuyu again. “I’m sorry. If I could I would never do anything that would upset you.”

Sana felt tears clouding her vision. She knew she shouldn’t, but she wasn’t able to hold herself up. She skipped closer and let the warmth of Tzuyu body calm her. The same sweet scent that would never leave her memory, the same softness of skin, but Tzuyu didn’t hug her back this time.

“I will always love you Tzuyu-ya. No one can take it away from me. But my love is toxic for you and I want nothing for you but happiness. If Jihyo makes you happy, then I would happily watch you from the side.”

Sana cried, tensing up so much that it was hard to breathe. The lift clinked again and Tzuyu arms squeezed her tight, reawaking the memories and making it feel bitter.

“Thank you, Sana-unnie. I know you’ll find the right person too.”

She disappeared from Sana’s arms like a wind, brushing by her side and exiting her world for something new. And Sana knew it was the right thing to do.

Jihyo had pain all over herself watching the two hug each other. She was ready to break in pieces right there. Everything was getting dark around her and she was feeling lost when a hand gripped her own. Tzuyu gently smiled at her and pulled her away from here. The older one glanced behind – Sana was still standing in the lift, head down.

Tzuyu took them to Jihyo’s car. She showed no sight of sadness and had their fingers interlocked. But Jihyo was still hurt and confused. When they reached the spot, she gently pulled Tzuyu to face her, studying her face for answers.

 “Do you still love Sana?”
 “No.”
 “But you…”
 “Sana-unnie was saying her goodbyes.”
 “Goodbyes?”
“Because even she could see that the one I love now is you.”

Jihyo had her mind blown when their lips met. Tender touches and nibbles and Jihyo were ready to fain out of happiness. She felt her tears streaming down her cheeks and she pulled Tzuyu closer, not even thinking about separating. The kiss was fantastic and Tzuyu’s lips were addictive. The older one wanted nothing more but to get this kisses every day.

As they parted and Jihyo was nuzzling into her neck, wetting the clothes a little, Tzuyu’s own heart was trembling. She loved Sana and she was putting a lot into their relationships. But they weren’t meant for each other. And Tzuyu was sure that now she was in the right place with the right person.

From this day I will take a break. I will write still, but won't have much time because of my exams. So I won't post anything here.
If you have exams as well, wish you all luck. And don't forget to leave prompts, so I have something to write.
