“Jeonghan! Open the ing door! You better not be dead! I’ll kill you even if you’re dead!” Jihoon shouted as he banged a fist on Jeonghan’s door.  

“I won’t die that easily.” Jeonghan muttered as he opened the door.  

“Finally. Explain why you just walked off without a word.” Jihoon demanded despite being younger than Jeonghan. 

“I just needed to get things straight.” Jihoon huffed as if he didn’t believe what Jeonghan had said. 

“So what are you gonna do now?” He asked. 

“I don’t know...just go back to normal I guess. He doesn’t remember me anyway. What’s the point?” Jeonghan sighed. He had resented himself for the past 10 years, thinking that he was the reason Seungcheol had left. Now that he knew the truth, he didn’t know what he was doing. Not like he ever did since Seungcheol had left him. Seungcheol coming back just made it worse. 

The walls he had built for years collapsed the moment that handsome face appeared in front of him. He had given up on living. Since he knew Seungcheol was alive but didn’t remember him, he didn’t have the will to live anymore. 

“You better not do anything stupid.” Jihoon warned him as he eyed Jeonghan warily. He knew how Jeonghan had been living. He knew why Jeonghan still wanted to live even after Seungcheol left him. 

He hoped that one day Seungcheol would return. That Seungcheol loved him as much as he loved Seungcheol. Jihoon didn’t know how long Jeonghan would last like that, Jeonghan was getting skinnier and skinnier. He had eye bags and his eyes always held a sadness that no one could ever cure. No one but Seungcheol. 

Jeonghan had a new will to live once he saw Seungcheol again, but it all came crashing back down when Seungcheol didn’t remember him. Knowing that Seungcheol lived but forgot him hurt Jeonghan even more than when Seungcheol had left. 

“I’m not stupid.” Jeonghan replied, staring at Jihoon. Jihoon rolled his eyes. He knew full well what Jeonghan was like. 

“Fine, fine! I promise I won’t do anything stupid, okay?” Jeonghan gave up. Jihoon knew him too well. Afer all, they had been friends for over a decade. Jihoon nodded in satisfaction. He might not show it, but he cared about Jeonghan a lot. Maybe too much, especially since he knew Jeonghan didn’t feel the same. As long as he was able to be beside Jeonghan, supporting him, Jihoon was happy.

“I got you breakfast!” Mingyu plopped a sandwich bag on Jeonghan’s table as he sat down. 

“Thanks, but you didn’t have to do that.” Jeonghan smiled at Mingyu. 

“I don’t mind doing it for my angel.” Mingyu flashed his bright teeth at Jeonghan. Blushing furiously, Jeonghan turned his head away. Being called an angel made him embarrassed, especially when it was Mingyu who was saying it. 

“You look cute when you blush. I should call you angel more often.” Mingyu teased. 

“Y-yah! Stop it!” Jeonghan slapped Mingyu on the arm lightly, causing Mingyu to flinch and hold his arm dramatically. He put his hand on his chest, pretending to be hurt. Jeonghan chuckled at his antics, forgetting about all his worries for a moment. 

Mingyu stared at Jeonghan while he laughed. Even though he seemed happy, his eyes held a deep sadness. Mingyu had never seen that sadness go away before, now it seemed like Jeonghan was even sadder. Mingyu had made it his goal to rid the sadness out of Jeonghan’s eyes. 

Jeonghan was really pretty when he laughed. His evident cheekbones lifted up whenever he laughed. But what really mesmerised Mingyu was his laugh. More like his voice, actually. He had the voice of an angel. Soft and comforting. Jeonghan might hide it well, but Mingyu could see and hear what Jeonghan truly felt. 

Sadness. An indescribable sadness that made Mingyu’s heart hurt for Jeonghan. He could see Jeonghan getting skinnier day by day. See his bone structure gradually appearing. He had seen Jeonghan almost faint too many times to count. Mingyu pined for Jeonghan to just see how much he cared. Maybe even loved. But something told Mingyu that he would never be able to achieve that, not while that sadness was in Jeonghan.
