The first thing I do next morning is head to the supermarket. I buy a lot of ramen, chips and anything edible I can get my hands on. I spend the rest of the day cleaning and doing laundry and other domestic chores.

Mingyu shows up early to help me. Bless him. Soon Jun and Wonwoo join us and the rest of the crowd do too. By 08:30 everyone is here besides Jeonghan. Just as I am about to ask Joshua about him I hear a knock on the door.

“I’ll get it!” exclaims Seungkwan before running to open the door and what I see freezes me on my spot. The room goes quiet and everyone stares towards the door in different stages of awe and shock.

“Does… does it look bad?” asks Jeonghan who is standing at the door, self-consciously touching his hair. His hair, once magical, luscious and gold are now chopped off to a dark brown bob.

No one answers. Seungkwan, who is closest to Jeonghan, pulls him in quickly.

“O-M-G!” exclaims Seungkwan dramatically. “Hyung, what did you do?!”

“Is it that bad?” Jeonghan hesitates as he looks around the room and catches my eye. I quickly shut my mouth which I didn’t realise was hanging open.

“No” replies Joshua in bewilderment. “You look amazing!”

“Amazing?” scoffs Jun, moving towards Jeonghan. “You look beyond amazing. You look hot!”

Jeonghan swats at him turning a little red and soon we are back at being our noisy selves with bombarding questions at Jeonghan and touching his hair. Jeonghan obliges and quickly goes back to being confident and dorky.

I don’t say anything but give him a wide, assuring smile when our eyes meet again.

I can’t say anything because I am afraid I’ll end up becoming a babbling mess.

Jihoon puts in the movie and we all settle in. I secure a seat at one end of the couch and Jeonghan follows, cradling a bowl of popcorn. As he sits he is rudely pushed by Jun so he and Vernon can join us on the couch. It’s a little too compact for comfort so I put my hand on the back of the couch behind Jeonghan. I sense him tense a little bit but he soon relaxes as the movie starts.

As expected, the movie is quite predictable and a little slow for my taste. Half way through the movie Mingyu is snoring and Vernon has moved beside Seungkwan on the floor where they are joking and commenting on every scene. Jihoon is now occupying Vernon’s seat and is playing on his cell phone.

“Okay, no no this won’t do” Seokmin says in frustration as he gets up. “We are changing the movie and switching off the lights and no one is going to do anything besides watching the movie!”

“Wait, I want to use the washroom” says Jun before running in the direction I point him to. The rest of us get up too to stretch our legs. I go to kitchen to get more snacks.

“We really shouldn’t have hired that movie”
