I wasn’t able to say anything.

            To be honest, my mind could’ve made up words, answers to that. I could have said “Of course!” or “Oh come on, we’re like best friends now! I won’t disappear!” or even maybe “I’m here to stay, Irene!”

            Those were the right answers to that questions, right?

            I was stumped. Because the right answers were lies I would have to made up to talk to her.

            I looked away, my gaze dropping to the shining red strings only I can see. Irene’s were glowing brighter, constantly, like a heartbeat. And up until this time, this day… I still can’t find the other end. Her strings were winding far away, and when I thought I was near to the end, nothing. The string disappears, like a dead end, like I was forbidden to see it. I was confused, clueless.

            At the end of the five days, I know I have to let Irene meet her other half, the one destined for her.            

            But why does it seem like a trap every time? What was the gods thinking…?
