People say she's way in too deep with her crush for a certain red head, but is she really?

 

"Seungwan-ah! The bell just rang! How long are you gonna blatantly stare at your so called 'Joy' of your life?"

 

Instantly, Seungwan snaps out of her trance and almost had a whiplash with how fast she turned to Seulgi. "Wha-what're you talking about? I-I'm totally not staring at her!"

 

But oh gosh is Seulgi so right. She's totally staring at Joy.

 

"C'mon! You're obviously oggling Wan-ah. Want me to just call her for you? Huh?" Seulgi says, nudging her with a teasing grin, making her glare intensely at the latter. Yet the monolid girl doesn't stop. "Awww! Look at you being all flushed red! What a—"

 

"Y-yah! Shut it!" Seungwan quickly holds Seulgi's mouth shut. "You're too loud! She might hear you!"

 

And to Seungwan's absolute horror...

 

"She's already looking at our direction Wan."

 

The ombre haired girl turned wide eyed. Slowly, she turned to look at Joy, and just as Seulgi said, there she is, looking at them with a very unreadable expression.

 

She is so screwed.

The weather is great and so is Seungwan's view. For her everything is so ideal right now, because a very happy, eye-smiling Joy is all it takes for her day to brighten up, and it's all thanks to Seulgi's sudden closeness to one of Joy's friends, Joohyun.

 

The two started hanging out with each other sometime ago, along with a girl named Yerim, leading Joy and Seungwan to be casually acquainted.

 

It's a weekday and the gang decided that they should all relieve stress from school by going to the amusement park. And it was their best decision ever. 

 

They spent the whole day riding exciting rides, eating delicious amusement park food, and simply just fooling around with each other.

 

It was almost nighttime and the girls decided that they should just take one last ride, but ultimately after they eat dinner. And so, Seungwan and Joy was tasked to find a table for them while the three went off to buy something to eat.

 

While at it, Seungwan can't just help but steal glances at Joy. In the older girl's eyes, Joy looks so flawless under the amusement park night lights that's grazing her beautiful self, and it's just so picture-perfect.

 

Yet even with Seungwan's discreet glancing, Joy still notices her.

 

"Am I pretty?" Joy casually asks Seungwan as soon as they found a table. 

 

The latter was definitely taken aback by the question, but nonetheless, she quickly nods as a reply.

 

Joy smiles at this, and Seungwan swears that the girl just shines so brightly like the sun whenever does so.

 

But the questions didn't stop there.

 

"What are you and Seulgi unnie?" A very curious Joy suddenly inquires.

 

The question flustered Seungwan cause to be honest, they were still not that close. For her, asking her if she's pretty is already rather intriguing, but this is a whole new level. And Seungwan just wonders, how did Joy come up with such a question?

 

"What? Exactly, w-why are you asking this?"

 

"Co'z you always look after her." The red head replied, obviously feigning nonchalance.

 

With the younger girl's reply,  Seungwan just thinks that if only Joy knows how much more she looks at  her rather than Seulgi, then she would've already known that she likes her and not her best friend.

 

"Well... Y'know, Seulgi is such a klutz sometimes. She can be very clumsy so I guess that's why."

 

"But that doesn't answer my question." Joy pressed with an intriguing look. The whole time, Joy's eyes never left hers, and she also noticed how she was now too close for comfort. Just when did Joy scoot over and invaded her personal bubble?

 

The realization of their proximity made Seungwan's heart beat fast and loud that she suddenly became conscious that Joy might hear it. Her face was now flushed red as she also noticed how even more ethereal Joy can be when the latter is this close.

 

"So? What are you and Seulgi unnie?"

 

"W-we're j-ju-just best friends." Seungwan barely utters, but she thinks her nerves and embarrassment was all worth it when her answer garnered an eye-smiling Joy.

 

"That's good then." The red head announces, yet making Seungwan confused as to why the former looks so happy about it. She's not complaining though. 

 

Seungwan ultimately thinks that the younger's smile is even brighter than the sunshine.

 

There was quite a long silence between the two of them after that, but their eyes never left each other's, until Joy's smile suddenly turned into a playful grin.

 

"Don't look too much at anyone else even if they're clumsy or cool, okay unnie?"

 

"What? Why— what're you—"

 

"I know you always look at me, but still...

 

Don't look at others."

What Joy said at the amusement park that night bothered Seungwan for days. The ombre haired girl kept thinking of what Joy had meant with those words, "I know you always look at me, but still... Don't look at others."  Also, how the hell did the red head knew that she always looks after Seulgi? They've just recently been 'acquaintances', meaning that the both of them never had any interactions before. 

 

She kept asking, and yanking out answers from Yerim, but the girl would always just shrug her shoulders, saying "I'm not Joy unnie. Why not just ask her?"

 

And it didn't help her situation at all when after the said incident, she would now always catch Joy looking at her, plastering that megawatt smile on her face, making the older blush like mad, and the younger giggle so much after seeing the reaction.

 

But Seungwan was still too shy to initiate a proper conversation with the taller girl, and the latter was not quite the chatterbox as well, so their conversations were only limited to casual greetings and interactions whenever they're with the gang.

 

"Seungwan unnie."

 

At the mention of her name from that honey-like voice, the ombre haired girl was flustered. She looks up from the book she was reading and saw Joy standing–more like towering in front of her with an unreadable expression.

 

"O-oh. What brings you here Joy? Are you looking for Joohyun? Don't you have classes?"

 

"Are you shooing me away unnie?" Joy pouts as she questions Seungwan, and the latter can't help but think how adorable she is. "And no, I'm not looking for Joohyun unnie."

 

"N-no. It's not like that." The shorter quickly denies. "It's just... I didn't  think you'll come here just to look for me?"

 

"You're actually right. I'm here for you."

 

"E-eh?"

 

Joy just chuckles at Seungwan's reaction. "You're cute unnie." The former adorably says. Yet in an instant, as if she suddenly remembered something, she became serious. "Eric sunbaenim has a crush on you doesn't he?"

 

The sudden attack of information shocked Seungwan, her eyes almost popping out if their sockets. She just can't believe what came out of the younger's mouth.

 

The said senior was always hanging out with her lately, specifically because they're both in the school's acapella team, and as matter of fact, in Seungwan's opinion, Eric just kills it when he sings. But never did she thought that the guy would look at her that way. He is overly kind and caring, but she thought he's just naturally like that.

 

Forcing an awkward laugh, Seungwan tries to dismiss the story. "C-c'mon Joy. How'd you even come to that conclusion?"

 

"He takes care of you way too much unnie." Joy says in a very direct tone. "And you even idolize him and call him oppa." Joy adds in a whisper but was still caught by Seungwan 

 

"He's just overly kind to everyone Joy. I don't think he likes me that way. And of course I would call him oppa. He's way older anyway." The shorter girl tries to explain her sentiment on the things Joy has been telling her, but rather than the latter dismissing their discussion, her eyebrows scrunched together in a frown, pouting her lips with her arms crossed.

 

Seungwan can't help but think that she did something wrong to upset the younger, and even though she doesn't know what it is, she doesn't want the girl upset. "Mianhae." She tells the younger, trying to not meet the latters eyes.

 

The abrupt apology confused the younger. "Why are you saying sorry unnie?"

 

"I made you mad didn't I?"

 

Joy sighs at the older's statement, and proceeds to clarify as she doesn't want the older blaming herself. "No unnie. I'm not mad."

 

"Really?" Seungwan asks, now with a hopeful smile on her face.

 

"Yes." Joy affirms, yet she still doesn't smile. "But unnie..."

 

"Hmm?"

 

"Perhaps... Your heart hadn't gone cold on me because of him, right?"

 

For the nth time that day, Seungwan is shocked. What did joy just say? And how?

 

"Stop hanging out with him unnie." The red head demandingly says and quickly storms out of the classroom, leaving Seungwan in a daze.

Now Seungwan just wants the ground to swallow her up. How did Joy know about her feelings? She's more than embarrassed to face Joy now after what just happened. 

 

And Seungwan actually did what Joy had told her to do as she doesn't want to upset Joy any further after knowing that the girl knew her feelings all along. A few days after she lessened her time hanging out with Eric, the latter actually confessed to her.

 

Joy was right.

 

Eventually she didn't accept Eric's feelings and told him that she likes someone else.

 

Yet she thinks she's the most unluckiest person in the world because Joy is now sitting in the same table as her inside the university's huge canteen. And worse, Joy is sitting in front of her (not that she's complaining but-), sporting that smile that's brighter than sunshine.

 

May God take her now.

 

"Hey unnie." The red head greets her rather plainfully than what she's expecting and proceeds on munching her fried chicken.

 

"O-oh, h-hi Joy! Wha-what brings y-you here?" Seungwan stutters with her reply, not even having the courage to look at the younger girl.

 

"Them." Joy nonchalantly replies as she gestures to Yerim beside her busy playing with her phone and Irene flirti—talking to Seulgi.  

 

Seeing the situation, Seungwan felt a little disappointed that Joy sat with her just because her friends are there. She can't help but have this weird feeling about it. She's even surprised that the younger is actually acting completely nonchalant around her, making her believe that Joy doesn't care about knowing her feelings—

 

"And you."

 

Okay scratch that. Now she's sure that she's not just flushed red, but also looking shocked and shy at the same time. And while she's busy doing and feeling just that, some guy loudly called out for Joy.

 

"Joy-ah!"

 

"Oh! Oppa!"

 

Suddenly, a guy just a tad bit taller than Joy with grape colored hair sat beside the latter. 

 

"Looks like you're with your friends. Annyeonghaseyo." The boy says in a cheery tone and smiles at Seungwan, in which Seungwan returns, just to be polite.

 

"Yeah, well, we were just eating lunch. Care to join us?" 

 

While Joy seems so glad to see the boy, Seungwan on the other hand is just so confused as to who is the guy. But one thing's for certain, whoever he is, she's quite irritated of him.

 

She knows it's her jealousy talking, but she won't admit that, even to herself.

 

"Oh sure! By the way, I just wanna show you something cool!"

 

"Oh really what is it?"

 

Sure Seungwan prayed so hard so that Joy wouldn't notice her earlier, or that she wishes the ground could just swallow her up or something, but right now, that's not the case. Now she's even willing to look like the silliest person ever just so she could garner her attention away from the boy.

 

"Look! I was able split a watermelon in half using my head!" 

 

"Woah! That's so cool!"

 

Seungwan rolls her eyes at this, not knowing that a trio is already snickering at the side, that's until one of them caught Seungwan's attention. 

 

"Cool guy, one, Seungwan unnie, zero."

 

Yerim states with a mocking grin.

The week rolls by and the presence of 'Sungjae', as Joy introduced him, became more perpetual. He would always just pop out of nowhere and show Joy these insanely cool stuff that she could never do, gaining Joy's attention away from hers.

 

But that won't be the case today.

 

It was all Yerim's plan. Seungwan didn't even imagine that she would need the help of that devilish girl. So making a deal that Seungwan would provide Yerim free lunch for the whole month, the latter agreed to distract Sungjae for the whole day so that Seungwan could talk to Joy without the boy interrupting them with his 'cool stuff to share to Joy'.

 

After classes, Seungwan mustered up all her courage to invite Joy to have coffee with her. She was really trembling with nervousness yet she managed not to stutter and look as confident as she can in front of the girl. And to her surprise, Joy happily agreed to her request.

 

At the cafe, the two of them awkwardly sat opposite each other, or at least it was awkward for Seungwan, yet it looks like it isn't the case for Joy as she sips her coffee with a smile, all the while looking at Seungwan who's about to explode out of embarrassment.

 

"C-can you s-stop that Joy?"

 

The said girl blinks in confusion. "Stop what unnie?"

 

"You, staring at me l-like t-that." Seungwan tried so hard not to stutter yet bit her lip as she heard how she just sounded.

 

"Why? What's wrong with it? Do I make you feel uncomfortable?" And Seungwan can't but notice how Joy sounded sad when she asked the older, but even with this, Seungwan pressed on, wanting to clear things up for once.

 

"It's just... Why are you doing this Joy?"

 

Seungwan saw the confusion in the younger's eyes as she replied. "What do you mean? Doing exactly what unnie?"

 

The older deeply sighs, thinking that it's now or never. She wants to know why Joy is acting so nonchalant, and now is the only time she could ask her.

 

"I just wanted to know why you're playing on my feelings like this. You could just straight up say that you don't like me back. But instead—"

 

"I never said I don't like you." Joy cuts her, surprising Seungwan in the process.

 

"W-well... Yes, but, you couldn't have liked me back the way I do, don't you? There's a lot of good looking people around you. Sungjae is definitely one of them."

 

"If you'd just pay close attention, you're the only one I pay close attention to, unnie." Joy smiles knowingly at her own statement. "Didn't it ever occur to you how I'd know that you've been stealing glances? How I noticed that you look after Seulgi unnie too much? How I found out that Eric sunbaenim likes you?"

 

And now that Seungwan thinks about it... Joy did knew an awful lot about her too.

 

"And besides, Sungjae oppa is my cousin." Joy finishes off with an even wider grin.

 

"What?! Why didn't you— Oh gosh this is embarrassing!"

 

"Everyone knows."

 

"Even Yerim? Joohyun unnie?"

 

"Yep. Even Seulgi unnie."

 

The information greatly embarrassed her, and again, she just wants the ground to swallow her whole, and she swears Kim Yerim would pay. Seungwan is so flushed red and can't even look at Joy properly. "I-oh gosh! I-I'm s-so sorry! I did-didn't mean t-to, I-just I-I mean—"

 

"You got jealous?" Joy cuts her sentence off again with a very amused look on her face.

 

"N-no! I-I mean y-yes... But I-it's not my right t-to y'know, g-get jealous. You-you're gorgeous, s-so..." 

 

"You're too cute when you're rambling like that. And no, you're more beautiful. So don't be nervous... 

 

... I like you too unnie...

 

And I want you to know that I've also been looking at no one else but you."

 

Needless to say, Seungwan was flushed red. Now it all makes sense to her, and it just rendered her speechless.

 

Seeing Seungwan so shocked and flushed because of her confession, Joy couldn't help but think about how adorable Seungwan's reaction is. And so, the red head couldn't help but just give the older girl a quick kiss.

 

After she does so, she smiles ever so brightly at an also smiling Seungwan and holds her hand. 

 

"Starting today, don't pay any close attention to anyone else but me co'z I easily get jealous, okay darling?"
