Chapter 10

“Yumi?”  Hana called her best friend , still out of breath.

“Are you all right, let’s go to the hospital,” she nervously said, hugging her, Yumi had been waiting at the nearby store, she’s with Hana they parted when Hana went to Jaejoong, but she’s been closely following the two.

“No, just let me rest for a bit, until the pain subside,” she cut her,” please get my medicine in my bag,” she plead, without hesitation, she did what she was told, she tried to find the white  bottle, her pain reliever  but no matter how hard she search she can’t find it and it just frustrate her even more to see how her best friend suffer from severe pain in her head, she clutch on her head tightly..

“Hana I can’t find it,,, let’s go to the hospital now,,,” she cried, despite the pain, hana felt guilty that she always put her best friend in this state,

“Oh,” 

They rode a taxi and argued the driver to drive faster since its emergency,  Yumi cried harder when Hana collapse in her arms during the ride, she don’t know what to do, she blame herself for agreeing on Hana on stalking the guy she likes where in every one advice her to just stay at home.

She was transferred into a stretcher and brought to the emergency room, lucky that her doctor in charge is on duty; he checked up on her pulse and do the necessary things. Yumi is still crying outside looking at them, suddenly a middle age man and his wife came,

“Where is young miss? “ you can tell the anger in his voice,

“I’m sorry, appa, ,”Yumi bowed at him, but the angry  man slap her face, the woman on her side yelled and hugged her daughter,

“Please don’t blame her do you think that she wanted this to happen? Hana is just not a boss for her, she’s her best friend so stop assuming that our daughter is not in pain,,” the man calm down and walk to the nurse station.

“Please understand your father; you know that Mr. Lee was really angry when he found out that Hana collapsed somewhere,

“Umma, it’s my fault, I forgot to remind her to bring her medicine,,” she cried in her arms,

“Don’t cry, she will tease you when he sees your eyes this way,” she said to calm her daughter down, although she‘s too worried to the condition of Hana that she also treated as her daughter.

Yumi’s family is living in the Lee’s house, her father is their butler while her mother is the cook in the house and she became hana’s best friend, and not long ago she was assigned to become her personal assistant, the moment when she was diagnosed having a brain cancer ,the same  disease that killed her mother.

  After an hour she was transferred into her room, she fell asleep because of the morphine that was injected on her, later her father came, despite his firmness , you can see the uneasiness in his eyes, it worsen when he was called to Hana’s neurologist doctor’s office, it’s like the flashback of yesterday when the doctors told him about his wife’s cancer.

They didn’t waste no time and proceed to the latest MRI, Dr. Park explain the movement of tumor in her brain , it’s position, how big it is, and how it will affect hana’s condition in the future.

“she will begin to think less, and will forget things easily, I’m afraid she will go to a point that she can’t recognize anyone , or even it will be hard for her on naming things before she die it will seems like she will have an empty brain, to the point that she will be find it hard to talk, I’m sorry to say this Mr. Lee”

“Just like my wife before,” he answered filled with loneliness, he recall how her wife forget everything about him, and their daughter before she passed away ,to the point that he can’t even talk to her since she’s too oblivious on how to responds.

Such a curse of luck that his teenage daughter carries that same fate.

“But there is an option, although it’s just a 20% possibility to be successful, American doctor’s formulates an operation that can   kill the cancer cells, however the possibility for all her memorize to wipe out is higher,”

“And you want my daughter to be their test example,   experimenting her if their examination will be successful?” he crook his brows, the doctor understand his feelings but he knows this how medicine or science works, continues of test.

“I know how are you feeling, but the chances is higher than the last time, it was just 5% before during your wife,” 

“Is there any option left?”

The doctor shook his head,”I’m afraid this is none, but we must tell the patient about this, the sooner the operation the better,” he suggest

“You wanted us to hurry things though we are not sure if my daughter will come out alive afterwards?” he stands up, expressing his annoyance

“I’m sorry Mr. Lee, we have to fasten our decisions as long as the cancer cells are still small, or else 20% survival rate will be impossible, I’m sorry,,” he said tapping the shoulder of  the confuse businessman 

Yumi turn the doorknob, she brought a porridge made by her mother for Hana, since she hated the food in the hospital, she‘s happy seeing her best friend’s energy back, she’s standing in the side looking down the hospital, an iv fusion attached on her left arm. She smilingly looks around,

“I thought you really left me and will never come back,” she stop smiling when she sees her best friend swollen eyes, she slowly comes to her and hugs her, ”I’m sorry for worrying you,,” but her words didn’t help at all, it just made her cry even more,

“But please don’t leave me, it will be alone and a lot painful if you’re not around please don’t leave me up to the last? Please hung on a bit, I’m saying sorry in advance because I know that it’s not the first time that I will make you cry, but you know that I’m kind a selfish right since we grew up together? Please stay with me no matter what; please be with me though that means shedding a lot of tears, please serve as my legs, my arms , my eyes and my brain every time I forgot things,” those words made Yumi’s heart break , if she can only do something to lessen her pain,

Hana broke the hug, a smirk plasters on her face; she looks and pinches both Yumi’s cheek

“Who made my pretty best friend cries?” she joke, Yumi tries to laugh, hana wipe her tears,”I’m really glad that it’s Saturday today, or else everyone in School will criticize your puffy  eyes, I’m glad that there is no school today, though that means I can’t see Jaejoong.

Though Hana assured her that she can tell her if she forgot things, it was hard to do, since it will make her lonely even more, that’s why it was hard for Yumi tell her that it’s actually Tuesday, and that they are now absent for two days, sometimes it’s even painful when you know everything and the fact  that you can’t be with this person soon.
