Last Night
Behind the Mask [Bangtan]Zhen and Jungkook left the restaurant relatively quickly after they finished their meal. They’d no interest in dessert, or anything of the sort. In fact, Zhen was more worried about getting home, getting packed, and going to sleep. She couldn’t stand the guilt of being around Jungkook when she was leaving him, and it was unlikely she’d come back anytime soon.
Jungkook had rode with Zhen home in a taxi, and walked her to her door, where they hugged for a long, long while. Zhen felt that were she to pull away, he’d disappear for good, and she needed him.
But he pulled away first. “I’m-”
“Really going to miss me?” She asked, looking up at him expectantly.
He smiled. “Well, that, but I’m really glad that you’re doing what’s best for you. And I’m sorry if I held you down in making the decision.”
She shook her head. “That did not happen,” She said, standing on her toes and pressing her lips to his. “You didn’t hold me down. Of course I didn’t want to leave because I want to be with you, but you never discouraged it.”
He kissed her again, and it didn’t seem to last long enough for Zhen. She didn’t want him to stop kissing her. She was going to miss this. “I love you Zhen, and I love that you’re doing what’s making you happy.” He reached behind her and opened the door to her house. “Go inside and get some sleep. You have a long day ahead of you. I’ll see you in the morning.”
She nodded and, before she turned to leave, she turned to him and kissed him again, passionately, to the point where she knew that her lips would be swollen and bright red. “Good night.” She said sadly.
“Good night,” He said, his eyes directed down. She knew, though, that when she turned and started into the house, he watched her the whole way. When she turned to close the door, he smiled at her.
It was a sad smile, which made Zhen’s heart ache. He stood with his hands in his pockets, his shoulders slumped, and his face directed downwards. His eyes were looking up at her through his bangs and long lashes, and Zhen bit her lip to keep herself from crying as she closed the door and turned away from it.
She couldn’t breathe.
Zhen’s eyes opened, and immediately she was aware of the fact that she was sleeping. She was laying in her bed, and a harsh blue glow was surrounding her, filling her room in an eerie way. She sat up from her bed, the blankets pooling around her, to find Jungkook laying beside her, passed out, with Kirakira laying curled up beside him.
When she turned towards him, moving to wake him and ask what was going on, since he’d gone home after dropping her off, she suddenly sank into the bed. She began to slid down, down into a sort of hole that had formed in the mattress, while Jungkook and Kirakira lay untouched. She tried to call out to him, but no words left as she clawed at the bed, trying to keep from falling.
But she couldn’t, and she dropped through the sheets, and then was falling through the air.
Zhen slammed down into a fountain, sending water spraying everywhere. None of the passerby’s seemed to notice. When she collected herself and moved to her feet, she found that she was standing a few feet away, a bit older than she was now, w
