Stay With Me
Behind the Mask [Bangtan]Ha-Neul sped to the hospital, which Suga was incredibly thankful for. Jungkook sat in the back seat with Zhen on his lap. She was still knocked out, and Jungkook was trying fruitlessly to wake her. Jimin sat beside him, just as stunned as the others.
Before Ha-Neul could even park the car, Suga was out of it. He had slowed as the car in front of him braked, and Suga leapt immediately, even though the others shouted after him. He raced towards the hospital, not looking back.
His feet carried him to the ER. He raced inside and skidded to a stop in front of the desk. “I”m-” He panted, shaking his head. “Mallory…. LeBlanc-” He in a breath. “She was in a car crash… in critical condition… please-”
“Through that door,” The woman said, pointing towards a set of swinging doors. “Go down the hall and to the right. When you reach the area with all the leather waiting chairs, you’re in the wing she’s in. I’ll call and let the ladies over there know that you’re coming. And sir?” She said, and Suga looked up. “I’m so sorry.”
Suga thanked her and turned, running towards the doors she had pointed out. He was sure he looked crazy, but he was in the position, or the mood, to give a damn. He raced down the hall and ran, for what seemed like forever, until he reached the space the woman had depicted.
The woman behind the desk spotted him and called “She’s in room 4720.” She called. Suga thanked her and raced towards the doors the woman was pointing at. He’d entered a hall full of rooms. He jogged down the hall, looking at all the room numbers. It was a nice hospital, incredibly spacious for an ER, but he couldn’t care less.
Finally he spotted her room and, as he started towards it, the door opened. A bed was wheeled out, with a screaming Mallory laying on the bed, hundreds of IV’s plugged into her arms and five nurses pushing her quickly towards the doors out of the space. A doctor was hurrying behind them.
“What’s going on!” Suga demanded, grabbing the doctor’s arm. The doctor gave him an annoyed look. “Please sir, that’s my-” He was panting again. “She’s my-”
“You must be the boyfriend,” He said, pulling Suga’s arm so he would follow as he hurried after Mallory, who was still screaming. “It’s important that you understand how serious her injuries were.” Suga nodded. “She shot through the windshield, so she suffered some surprisingly minor head wounds. When she landed, she landed on her side, so she broke all the ribs on her right side, her right shoulder, and she’s banged up her hip. Due to the force, however, of the crash, the windshield incident, and the landing, several things have ruptured, and we need to give surgery immediately. Now that you’re here, we can’t legally give her life saving surgery without your consent.”
Suga nodded viciously. “Yes, do it, whatever you need to do, just do it. Please,” He said, slowly catching his breath. “Just don’t let her die.”
“We’ll do our best, son,” The doctor said, dropping a hand on his shoulder. “But keep in mind, she’s in a lot of pain, and she may not pull through. We’ll do our best, but we can’t promise anything.”
Suga nodded, and the doctor looked over his shoulder. “Excuse me,” Someone said, and Suga turned to find an officer standing behind him. “I overheard you say this boy is Ms. LeBlanc’s boyfriend.” The doctor nodded. “May I speak to you, son?” Suga nodded again, and the officer gestured for him to follow. “We’re going to need to see your phone.”
“What? Why?” Suga asked, but he reached in his pocket nonetheless and pulled out his phone.
The officer took it. “Her phone was in the process of leaving a message for you. We ended the call when we arrived at the scene, but we need to see if there is anything we can hear in the message that will help us classify this scene.” He slid Suga’s phone into a plastic bag and pulled out a clipboard, clicking a pen and beginning to write. “Now, where were you when they called about the accident?”
“At a birthday party for Mallory’s best friend, Zhen Ai. She was supposed to be there.”
“That would explain the flowers and presents in the passenger’s seat.” He continued writing. “She was with a man. Are there any men you know of that she’s close to?”
Suga nodded. “It could have been anyone, really. Was it her brother?”
The man shrugged. “Is her brother in his thirties?”
Suga made a face. “No, he’s-” He almost gasped, but stopped himself. “May I ask, was this man clearly from a different country?”
The officer laughed. “Well yes, but so was the passenger. I don’t know what that has to do with anything.”
“I’m almost positive the man with her might have been Claude Vandam.”
The officer squinted at him. “And what makes you think that?”
“Just a hunch.” Suga said flatly. “What’s his condition?”
The officer sighed. “I’m not supposed to share that information with you, but if you think that will help you narrow down the list of possible people he could be,” Suga nodded. “He’s alive. In fact, he’s awake. He’s scheduled for a surgery directly after your girlfriend, since he wasn’t in dire need of anything other than a small head surgery to insure no glass got too dead into his skull, but since he showed no signs of damage, other than shock, they might not do the surgery.” He looked over the clipboard at Suga. “I’ll bring you to his room, but you are not to get anywhere near him, okay? I c
