Gossiping
Behind the Mask [Bangtan]Jungkook sat on his side of the tent, and Jimin sat on his side. Both were setting up their sleeping bags when Jimin looked over at Jungkook and smirked. “So,” He started, and Jungkook frowned. “I saw you holding Jin Ae’s hand.”
Jungkook shrugged. “Yep.”
“Do we still call her that?” Jungkook looked to Jimin and raised an eyebrow. “Jin Ae. It’s not really her name.”
Jungkook sat back and rested his arms on his knees. “I’d prefer it if you called her Jin Ae.” He said, and Jimin laughed. “I’m serious. I kind of made it a thing that I’m the only person who calls her Zhen Ai. Mal and Cho Hee call her Zhen, or occasionally Zhen Ai, and Jun Hyun calls her Ai. So it’s like a thing, between us.”
“So her real name has become a pet name?” Jimin asked, and Jungkook rolled his eyes. “It’s cute.”
Jungkook laughed a little. “It’s what I was going for.”
Jimin nodded and sat on his sleeping bag. “So how did you do it?”
“What?”
“How did you get her to like you back?” He asked, crossing his legs. “Well, I guess it’s more, how did you get her to tell you the truth, that she liked you back?”
Jungkook bit the inside of his lip. “Well, that one day that Zhen came to see us at rehearsal, and I took her outside, she was being super jumpy, so I asked her why she was nervous and she didn’t answer so I asked if it was because we were alone and she nodded. So I asked her why I made her nervous, and she didn’t give me a real answer, so I kissed her.”
Jimin laughed. “You asked why you made her nervous, and then kissed her. Maybe it’s because you’re so forward.”
“Maybe, but she kissed me back, so it worked for me.” Jungkook said, smirking. “Speaking of Zhen, I need to go see her.”
Jimin stood. “I’ll come with you.” Jungkook made a face. “I want to see Mallory.”
“Why?”
Jimin shrugged. “I like her.”
Jungkook laughed. “And clearly you aren’t afraid to show it.”
Jimin shook his head. “I don’t really care. I know she likes Suga though, so that’s a little awkward, but I just like being around her. She’s nice to me.”
Jungkook laughed. “She was.” Every time the two had been together, Mallory did seem at ease with Jimin. But it wasn’t like how she was when Suga was near her. With Jimin, she was laughing, she was friendly, but with Suga, she was calm, and surprisingly quiet. It was weird, but Jungkook, and everyone else, knew it was because she liked him.
Jungkook and Jimin walked towards Mallory’s tent, where they knew Zhen and Mallory would be, but didn’t talk as they walked. There wasn’t much to say. But as they approached the tent, Jungkook cupped his hands around his mouth. “Zhen Ai,” He called. He dragged out her name as they approached the tent and, quickly, Zhen’s head appeared in the door of the tent. “Hey,” He said, smiling and reaching for her, but she backed up and widened her eyes. Jimin figured this was her way of telling him not while people were around. He smiled at this.
“Do you want to come in?” Mallory called from inside the tent.
Zhen pointed at their feet. “No shoes though.” Both took off their shoes and climbed through the door of the tent. “What’s up?”
Jungkook shrugged. “Not much, just wanted something to do.”
Mallory, who was sitting on the air mattress with a pack of batteries in her hand and a lantern at her feet, looked up. “Do you want to go find something to do?” She asked, dropping the batteries. “I don’t really feel like sitting around right now.”
All three nodded. “But is there really anything to do?” Jungkook asked.
Zhen shrugged her shoulders. “There’s horseshoes. Anyways, dinner’s soon, so we can get a few games of horseshoes in and then eat.”
Jimin laughed. “Who knows how to play horseshoes?”
“We’ll make up rules as we play.” Mallory smirked, walking towards the door of the tent.
