War of Hormones
Behind the Mask [Bangtan]Zhen sat in the lunch room across from Jungkook with a can in one hand, an apple in the other, and her eyes directed down at the table. She hadn’t said a word to him since they saw the test results.
She’d scored the highest. She’d beat out Jae-Sun, which meant that she was now the class representative. She was the class president, and that was the last thing she wanted. She couldn’t say she wasn’t a little proud of herself. She was. But at the same time, she wasn’t all too happy about what it meant for her. She was now going to be put in charge of things she’d rather someone else do, or she’d be expected to reach standards that she feared she might not be able to.
“It’s a good thing, Zhen Ai,” Jungkook started, and Zhen slowly looked up at him, eyes wide. “Everyone wants to be the class president at some point in time, right?” Zhen shrugged. “And hey, maybe now if you turn it down, Jae-Sun will take it seriously.”
Zhen shrugged. “I don’t know, Jungkook.”
A can slammed on the table, writhing and spitting some sort of juice all over both Zhen and Jungkook. Zhen gasped, leaping to her feet and knocking over her chair in the process. Jungkook lunged forward and knocked the can off the table and onto the floor, away from them. He then looked to Zhen, who now had brown streaking down her uniform shirt and all over her skirt, tights, and shoes. Her expression dropped, and her lips pursed together.
“Come on,” He said, moving around the table and wrapping his arm around her, hurrying her towards the shoe lockers. He wasn’t fast enough however, Zhen still managed to hear someone call behind them “!” and then a round of giggles.
Jungkook threw open the doors to the lunch room and, pulling Zhen out of the space, tugged her into his arms, and he crashed his lips into hers. “Ignore them,” He said in between kissing her. “They don’t know what they’re talking about.”
Zhen shrugged. “I got over it a while ago.” She tried, but it still hurt a little. What had she ever done to them? “Can we just… go back to class or something?”
“No,” Jungkook said, pulling her towards the shoe lockers. “I'm taking you home. They can’t make you go back to that classroom. It’d be a really bad idea.”
Zhen didn’t fight to pull her hand from his. “I don’t want you to get in trouble.”
He smirked. “Well, I’m covered in soda. We can’t go to class looking like a mess. I don’t think I’ll get in trouble for going home to change into something not.... sugar coated?” Zhen offered a shy laugh, and sat on the bench to pull off her slippers. “I really hate how they treat you.”
“I really hate this school.” She said flatly. “But there isn’t much we can do about it.” Neither said anything else as they finished changing their shoes. Hand in hand, and still quiet, they made their way towards the front of the school.
Zhen wasn’t all too surprised to see Ha Jae standing at the gates, leaning up against his parked car. She turned to Jungkook. “I guess this is what the soda was about.”
Ha Jae stood straight when he saw the two. “I was going to offer to get you two lunch, but uh,” He gestured to the soda marks on their yellow jackets. “I think you need to change instead.”
Jungkook nodded. “Did you send someone in to retrieve her?” He asked, gesturing to Zhen, and Ha Jae nodded. “That explains it. Would you mind driving her home?”
Ha Jae shook his head. “Not at all. I’ll take her right now.” Jungkook nodded and Ha Jae moved to get into the car.
Jungkook turned to Zhen and kissed her forehead. “Call me when you get home, okay?”
“You’re not coming?”
“I think that’d be a bad idea. I was going to walk you to the door, but I think it’d be a better idea if he drove you.” He hugged her against him. “Call me later, alright?”
She pulled away from him and took his hand. “You’re coming with me.” She said, tugging him towards the car.
“Are you really going to ride home with another guy, you ?” Ha Na asked, laughing with her group of friends, who were right by the gate.
Clearly they missed Jungkook’s kiss, because they immediately flocked to his side. “You shouldn’t waste your time on her, Jungkook-ah. You’re so much better than her.” One said.
“Yeah,” Started another. “Besides, we hear that the only reason you stick around her is because she won a bet and now you’re her slave. But we can break you free, oppa!”
Jungkook groaned and shook them off. “I’d appreciate it if you stopped talking about my girlfriend like that,” He said, starting towards her. He pressed a kiss on her cheek and smiled. “Ready to go?”
Zhen looked over at the girls, surprised
