Jungkook sat silently beside Zhen, who was talking endlessly to Ha Jae, who sat in front of her. Beside her sat Jun Hyun who sat in front of Ha-Neul. They were arguing about something in a language Jungkook didn’t understand. In fact, he was almost positive Zhen and Ha Jae were speaking in another language as well, but he wasn’t paying close enough attention to what they said, nor did he care.

He was a little bummed. It was supposed to be a day to Zhen and himself. They weren’t supposed to talk about anything except for the weather, and how wonderful it would be to share some kind of drink or street food or something. That was what normal couples did, right?

He was beginning to think it , not being a normal couple.

He understood, of course, that Ha Jae and Ha-Neul were very big characters from Zhen’s past. Of course they were! They were practically her brothers. But he got the distinct feeling that Ha-Neul didn’t like him, especially after her looked at him so hatefully so many times, and Ha Jae, who refused to remember Jungkook’s name, or that he even existed, wasn’t helping the cause.

But Zhen was happy. Or, at least, she seemed like she was. It was the most he’d seen her smile in a long while, that was for sure. But he wished it was him who was making her smile so much. And he really wished he didn’t feel so jealous.

“Are you hungry still, Jung Hee?” Ha Jae asked, turning towards Jungkook and offering a lazy smile. “We can order something else, of course.”

Jungkook bit back the retort that sprung to his lips and shook his head. “No, I’m alright.”

Zhen, who noted his expression, reached over and took his hand in hers. “Ha Jae, his name is Jungkook, not Jung Hee or whatever else it was you were calling him earlier.”

Ha Jae looked surprised. “Oh my, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to mess that up, it’s just I have a great friend at the office who looks a lot like you, and his name is Jung Hee.” He laughed a little. “I guess it just kind of slipped out all this time. I apologize Jungkook.” Jungkook simply shrugged and held Zhen’s hand tighter in his own. She offered a smile, and leaned against him as she continued to speak with Ha Jae animatedly.

“So you’re a prosecutor, but you’re allowed to track people down?” Zhen asked, and Ha Jae, laughing out of embarrassment, nodded. Ha Jae had shared with her that he had been searching for her ever since he made it as a prosecutor, which had been a few years. Even though they were the same age, Ha Jae was like Mallory and had graduated far earlier than the others in his year. He’d never really cared for physically being in school, but he loved to learn, which was probably why he took online college, even though he’d already graduated. Zhen was still confused on how, exactly, he had tracked her down, given that he was restricted to only a few machines.

Ha Jae laughed and shook his head. “Yeah, sometimes. I mean, it’s a little hard to explain.”

Zhen’s phone buzzed and she looked down at her lap, where her phone was sitting. Cho Hee’s name flashed on the screen. “Sorry,” She murmured, opening the message. It asked when she was ready to be picked up to go see Mallory. “Uh,” She said, moving to stand. Jungkook immediately shot up so she could get past him. “I actually have to go.” Ha Jae looked more than upset about this. “A very good friend of mine was hospitalized, and I need to go see her. You’re welcome to come of course.” 

Ha Jae shook his head. “No no, it’s alright. I’ll just leave you with my number, and we can get together later this week, okay?” Zhen nodded and smiled brightly, handing him her phone so he could put his number in. “Maybe you should text me what your schedule is like and I can work around it,” He said, handing her the phone again.

Zhen smiled. “I don’t have school all week, since there was a break and it doesn't pick back up until Monday, and I don’t have work since no one really needs to be photographed lately. So why don’t you message me with your schedule, and we’ll work around it.”

He smiled. “Still so bossy,” He said, walking into her arms and hugging her tightly. “I really did miss you.” He said, dropping a kiss on the top of her head. “And I’m a little pissed my brother didn’t tell me about you sooner.”

“Honestly, I’ve only known he was here for a few days.” She laughed. “So this was pretty quick, by Nana’s standards.” She turned to Ha-Neul, who was just moving to stand. “I expect to have a day with you too, mister.” She said, hugging him as well.

He laughed. “We’ll see about that. Sounds like you’re some kind of busy,” He said sarcastically. “But I’ll call you.”

Zhen nodded and turned to Jungkook. “We’d better get heading. I’ll text Cho Hee to meet us where she dropped us off.” Jungkook nodded and held out his hand for her. She took it and waved goodbye to her friends as Jungkook lead her towards the door.

As they moved outside, Zhen took out her phone and asked Cho Hee to meet them where she’d dropped them off, as she told Jungkook she would, and then put her phone back in her pocket. As they walked, she realized just how quiet he was being. “What’s on your mind?” She asked.

“Nothing.” He answered simply, staring ahead as they walked.

Zhen stopped and tugged his arm so he would turn to face her. “You’re a liar.” He rolled his eyes and looked off to the right, instead of at her. “What’s the matter?” She asked, giving his hand a squeeze. He shook his head, and Zhen smirked. She let go of his hand and walked up to him, pressing herself to his chest and wrapping her arms around his neck. “Jungkookie,” She murmured, and he looked down at her, his hands falling on her tiny waist. “Are you jealous?”

Jungkook’s face twisted into an annoyed expression and he took a step back. “No!” He said, looking to the side again.
