Chapter 8

Back to their old ways … or so they thought!

Kim Bum and Hyun Joong were having drinks … It’s been almost a year now since So Min came back to Korea.  Both playboys are back in their game … going to clubs, dating girls not seriously, not attending school… Both seem caught up with their own misery of losing So Min … they must admit their trio is not anymore complete without So Min.

“Where the hell is she!” Both men thought.

Graduation is almost near, Kim Bum will eventually take over and be the heir to the retail and hotel empire while Hyun Joong will soon follow his Dad’s footsteps as the Heir to their Real Estate, Bank, Pharmaceutical companies. Both men know that eventually they will be mixed up in an arranged marriage and finally accepted that the only woman they both love is gone … or so they thought!

“Hi guys! I’m back! Did you miss me?” So Min cheerfully exclaimed.

Both men turned to see So Min… she looks more sophisticated now and a lot ier but something has changed … both can’t figure it out but is just so happy seeing So Min back.

Kim Bum was the first to reach her … “So Min my darling where have you been all these time?” he hugged her and finally realized what he felt before is not the same now… he looks at her now as a sister.

“I’ve been everywhere Kim Bum. My parents told me after my birthday the big surprise … and … and so I went to tour Europe! I’ve been travelling and home schooling the whole time … So I can graduate the same time as everyone … That’s why I’m here for now!” So Min said.

Kim Bum cant place his uncertain feeling that So Min is hiding something. She never was a good liar. This is very interesting. He looked at Hyun Joong who was so silent since seeing So Min.

Hyun Joong can’t belive that So Min is back. After all this time …

“YA! Why are you back here? Good thing we did’nt miss you much! Hehehehe. ” Stupid Hyun Joong what are you doing???? He said to himself.

“Ya! Cant I come back? This is my country still plus if I didn’t know better you missed me the most …hahahaha” So Min said confidently but Kim Bum can see that she was quite surprised and hurt by Hyun Joong’s coldness.

“Oh well I’ll see you in graduation then Boys. Kim Bum can you be so kind as to me I would like to say a few words” So Min placed her arm to Kim Bum as they walked.

Hyun Joong seeing and recognizing the change in So Min as they left and stared at her back coldly.

Kim Bum and So Min was in the park …

“Are you the same So Min I love and adore like a sister?” Kim Bum said. He is more relaxed with her now and is quite enjoying seeing Hyun Joong rattled since he know his best friend well. Hyun Joong is just pretending not to be happy to see So Min.

“So , I am your sister? I’ve been well now Kim Bum and hopefully I’m back for good. I miss Korea and now its summer my favourite time of the year. I just wanted to drop by and see you guys again … I missed you both. Being in different countries all the time was not fun …” she almost choked up saying this …

So Min remembered what she has been through these months … she closed her eyes to gather strength.

Kim Bum didn’t miss the sad tone.

“He cried every night ,got drunk for 2 months and didn’t stop harassing your butler just to know where you are…. It was like winter never left him and he became cold and withdrawn. Seeing you shook him a lot that is why he said those things.”

“ I only wanted his love Kim Bum … and I hoped that after all this time we can be together. Can you promise me something? ” So Min said

“ Sure anything… you can tell me.”

“ After the party , my parents told me that they have good news and bad news to me. They were crying and was not sure how to tell me. You see they were surprised when I announced our relationship. They told me to let you go cause I am already set to marry someone after my graduation. It was arranged ever since I was born … They told me the good news … ”

“ I was set to marry Kim Hyun Joong! When they told me I was at first shocked and then I got excited and told my parents that I love him but then they told me the bad news …”

“ My test results came back on that day cause our family doctor called up. Apparently they found out the reason for my migraines …. You see I had a tumour and had to undergo immediate treatment in Europe to get some help” So Min was staring straight , no emotions in her face but tears were rolling down her cheeks.

“Luckily the treatment didn’t allow my hair to fall. But it was painful and the only strength I had is with the hope that if I get better I get to marry the man I love.”

“ The doctors allowed me to go back now for my graduation and told me my tumour is hopefully gone … so I want you to promise not to tell any of this to Hyun Joong … I will tell him when it’s time …” So Min had that determined look in her face.

Kim Bum was speechless. He wished that he could tell Hyun Joong to let go of his pride and finally declare her love for So Min. But instead he just nodded and gave So Min a hug.

“ If only I knew I would have been on your side all this time. ”

“ So are you guys back together now?” Hyun Joong only heard the last line and coldly said this to So Min.

“ Hyun Joong!” Kim Bum suddenly rose up angry but So Min held his hand.

“ No were not back on … I am engaged already!” So Min said this as a challenge.

Hyun Joong stared and said to himself … Stupid me ! Why am I so cold to her when I only want is to hold her tight and never let go…. WHAT! She is engaged???
