New Program

Saving You

 Hana

“Hi Hana, I don’t suppose you’ve remembered my name yet?”

I shake my head, rolling my eyes. “No, Doctor, I do not because I only planned to have a couple of sessions and they’re over now… But you called me back here against my own will.”

Sitting down, the psychologist gestures for JiYong to take a seat too. “Please don’t call me Doctor, it feels way too formal for my age...” he sighs, and picks up some papers from the coffee table, “I’m YongBae.  And this is JiYong.”

I nod, the only reason I came in the first place was to appease my mother. She thought there was something wrong with me, I didn’t argue, I know there is something wrong with me. But I don’t see the need in coming here to sort out the fact that I may or may not have problems.

But I know for a fact that I am not depressed.

“Now, the reason I called you in here was to explain a new program to you, one which we would like you to be involved in. What this program aims to do is to supply a mentor of good mental health with a patient of lesser health. This will allow both participants to help each other out during the period of the program. For you, JiYong would be your mentor if you were to undertake the program. He will report back to me on a weekly basis and state any habits or triggers for you. While you will keep a journal on how JiYong treats you daily.” He pauses, looking over the notes. “Uh… Right. As this reporting needs to be all hours the mentor will attend all classes with you, they will also live with you in order to see how you fend for yourself. JiYong would go everywhere with you in order to get an adequate amount of data for the program.

“So is he a baby sitter or something?” I ask.

“No he is more a live in reporting system.”

He is right here you know…” JiYong mutters, dragging out some of his words.

“We know JiYong. But at the moment I’m trying to explain this to Hana. You know what’s going on.” YongBae comments, smiling at his friend.

“No. Wait.” I say, looking at the wall behind YongBae’s head. “I think I’m getting it. He’s a guard puppy. He lives and leeches off me, yet gets paid to do so and reports back to you about his findings because you think I am depressed and don’t tell you enough. Correct?”

YoungBae nods slowly, the smile that was directed at JiYong, now gone. “Mostly... It isn’t about the amount that you tell me Hana, it is more about seeing how a patient acts away from their sessions. It gets a clearer picture.”

“I won’t leech off you. I will pay rent.” JiYong says, looking at the floor.

“Also, taking part in the program lessens your school fees.”

“Lessens my fees?” I ask, stunned. I can hardly pay for my fees as it is. I am struggling here. All I eat is rice and instant ramen.

He nods again. “Yes. It’s an incentive to get patients to join the program. It was my idea, mainly because I know that all those who were chosen dislike being social and other people invading their space…”

“How many are there?” I ask. “How many trail patients are there?”

“Four. There would be more… But we don’t have the resources at the moment…”

“Do they all have someone of the opposite that is going to live with them in the school apartments even though the school doesn’t normally allow that?”

“Yes. You got lucky though. You are the only one with someone that doesn’t have a psychology background. You are the main test subject as you have an average person for your mentor.”

“I’m not average!” JiYong says and YongBae laughs before continuing.

“It’s only for this session that you have to complete this program. If there are noticeable changes you may choose to continue alone or with the mentor. Any questions?”

I shrug, “How much do my fee’s get cut by?”

YongBae shuffles some papers around, “A single session is… 4,000,000 won… but with this program it’s only… half that. 2,000,000 won.”

“Is there a trail period?”

JiYong laughs, “For you or for me?”

A/N:: I am nearly finished another fanfic so I will be able to focus the energy I put on that into this one, please look forward to regular updates and such. I hope you are enjoying it. I am struggling at trying to make JiYong not a complete a-hole... In later chapters he is sweet but at the moment he just seems to be coming across as rude... What do you think?

I hope you enjoy this chapter, I worked hard at it. Untill next time! <3
