~ Suspicions ~
“How’s your head?” Ren questioned with a teasing grin.
Ahra huffed, hiding her embarrassment. She had managed to heal the wound quickly with no difficulties, but the fact that she got it from fainting grates at her. “It’s fine.”
“What happened, anyway?” Ren’s grin didn’t slip. “Did you trip on your feet or something?”
“You know what happened.” She rolled her eyes.
Ren hummed in agreement. “You’re right, but I still want to hear it from you.”
She glared at him accusingly. “Does my embarrassment make you happy?”
“You know it does.” Ren waved her off. “Just go on with the story.”
“I hate you.” She muttered, before telling him what had happened the day before. Actually, she told him what she remembered happening. And her recollection from yesterday couldn’t be more unclear.
“So, basically, you grabbed onto him to regain your balance.” Ren surmised. “Then you felt fire-like pain on your back, and that made you lose consciousness?”
“Yes,” she pursed her lips. “Do you have any explanation for it?”
“I might.” Ren replied nonchalantly. “Have you spoken to the council member about this?”
“No, I haven’t. After wrapping my head with some clean cloth and putting me on my bed, he apparently went to his own cabin to rest. A crew member told me that Suho has been asleep since then.” She relayed.
Ren gave a nod, obviously thinking about what he had heard.
“He stopped that rogue wave with his power.” She brought up. “It might have been too much, and he’s sleeping to regain the energy he had used up.”
“It’s possible.” Ren told her. “He’s got the raw power but didn’t know how to utilize it, making him use more energy than what was necessary. It’s a good thing you were there or else he might have burned out.”
“Good thing how? And what do you mean he might have burned out?” she asked.
“Someone like him who had spent his life hiding his abilities is in danger of killing himself with what he’s done. I suspect that he would have died from his second attempt to stop the wave if not for the energy he got from you.” Ren explained.
Ahra gaped. “He has the ability to get energy from others?”
“What? No,” Ren frowned at her. “Only from you, and perhaps from the others too.”
“Why could he borrow energy from me? Is that why I fainted?” she probed.
“Yes, you fainted because he unconsciously took too much energy from you. And the reason why he could is evident.” Ren sighed. “You might have not noticed it yet — although you should have already — but you’re one of them. The power of the first card that disappeared is in you.”

The air between them didn’t change even a little after Luhan had learned that Kris knows his secret right from the start.
