ArcanumChapter Twenty One
~ Talkative ~
“He’s still unconscious?” Chen asked.
Kyungsoo nodded as he closed the door behind him. The person that had suddenly appeared on top of that can had fainted seconds after saying something that sounded like ‘ouch’. And because Chen was a type of person who brings in strays, he made Kyungsoo help him carry the boy until they’ve found a carriage to bring them back to Bufera. Now, it has been three days and the boy still wasn’t waking up. It was strange because they haven’t found any serious injury, just scratches and bruises here and there.
“Don’t you think it’s time to approach a healer?” Chen said with concern.
“Let’s just wait until tomorrow. If he’s still unconscious by that time, then we’ll call one.” He clapped Chen on the shoulder. “Anyway, when is your brother coming home? He’s still unaware that you’ve brought another stranger into your house.”
“Oh, he won’t mind.” Chen replied casually. “Mom and Dad used to do this all the time. We’re both actually used to having a houseful of strangers.”
“Hm,” was all he responded to that. He hadn’t heard Chen mention his parents before this. All he knows was that they’re both dead.
“And Jonghyun is busy with having the eatery fixed. He won’t be back until the day after tomorrow.” Chen grinned, pertaining to his older brother.. “I’m the eldest in the house right now.”
He rolled his eyes and pushed Chen towards the kitchen. “Since you’re the eldest, why don’t you cook me something?”
“Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?” Chen complained, but let himself be pushed. “You should follow my commands. You cook me something for lunch.”
Kyungsoo wasn’t planning on Chen cooking anyway, so he just huffed and push the man on a chair in front of the table. Then he started working. It’s not like the meals he cook at Jonghyun’s eatery, but it will do for the two of them. Chen just watched with fascination as he sliced and cooked. It was probably because when Chen cooks, it’s a disaster.
“Don’t you think it’s time for you to get paid? I mean, you look like an expert at cooking.” Chen questioned.
“I’ll stand by what I said when your brother offered me work at the eatery. You two pay me enough by letting me stay here.” He wiped his hands on a rag now that all he has to do was wait for the soup to be done.
“Well, if you say so.” Chen shrugged.
He took a seat on the chair across Chen’s. They haven’t talked about what happened in Volta days ago, but they have time now. He opened his mouth to say something, but the lively man managed to speak first.
“Hey, remember how that boy suddenly appeared, crushing the garbage can?” Chen brought up.
“I was just thinking the same thing.” He replied in a deadpan voice.
“Really? We
