Chapter Eight
~ Crimes ~

“Do you understand, Your Highness?” his tutor asked.

He rolled his eyes. He had understood it the first time he had read about it. Having a tutor dissect it all to him made him want to tear his hair out or stab his eyes — whichever is more painful. But he had to be polite because it was expected of him. So he nodded at the small man who thinks that his student is an idiot.

“Then, let’s proceed to the next material.” The man said before starting to make him open his book at this and that page.

He also knew this. He knew everything in the whole book already. It’s boring listening to his tutor drone on and on about something that he had already understood. It’s better to tune him out and daydream as subtly as possible. And subtlety is something he’s very good at. He’s the ignored Prince after all.

He was in the middle of thinking about clouds when he heard the study room’s door open. His tutor stopped speaking and looked at the intruder. He turned to look too. His mother’s distant cousin was there.

“Oh, sorry, I thought it was unoccupied.” The man apologized. He bowed before closing the door again.

But Sehun was already intrigued. He saw someone with his uncle. It got him curious in a way he couldn’t describe. He thought of a way to dismiss his tutor.

“Sir, I think I’ve had enough for the day.” He started right away. “I can feel a headache coming in.”

The short man eyed him with distaste, as if he can’t believe his student would develop a headache from such a simple lesson. “Of course, go and rest, Your Highness.”

Sehun stood up and headed out of the door. He’ll get his tutor for the blatant arrogance later. For now, he had to know what’s with his uncle and his companion. To barge in like that into the royal study! They must have something important to talk about that the Queen gave them permission to talk in any private room in the castle, the study room being one of them.

He quietly, but swiftly, walked down the hallway. And then he heard their footsteps echoing from before him. He slowed and made himself hide behind a pillar. He followed them still, moving from pillar to pillar, knowing that if ever someone sees him, he’ll look more stupid than he’s already being regarded as. But he couldn’t care less about that. 

At last the two he’s been tailing stopped in front of the Tea Parlor, his mother’s most favorite. She only goes there during breakfast, so he’s sure it’s empty right now. It’s a good thing that they chose that room,
