Yongguk breathed heavily as he lay on the wooden studio floor. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he sighed. Hair frizzy, face red and streaked with sweat, he looked absolutely unsightly. This wasn't how he would have imagined himself spending his birthday a few years ago. But things had changed and birthdays held less meaning than when he was still young and longed for presents and parties and ridiculous birthday hats. Yongguk wasn't going to complain though, passing the auditions to become a trainee would be a long lasting birthday present for years to come and that would suffice.

It was a little past the hours Yongguk was supposed to stay and he decided to give himself a little break for a day. He picked himself off the ground and grimaced at how his shirt stuck to his back because of all the sweat. Changing quickly into a new set of clothes, he was packing up when all of a sudden the lights in the room shut off. Surprised, Yongguk blinked hard in the darkness, trying to see with the dim light coming from the hallway. "Blackout?" He asked no one in particular. He sighed, what luck I have he thought. Slowly he tried to find his bearings and stumbled towards the light switch on the opposite side of the room.

"Seng il chook ha hamni da, Seng il chook ha hamni da, Sa rang ha nuen Yongguk Hyung, Seng il chook ha hamni da!" A pure voice rang though the darkness. Utterly surprised, Yongguk turned and found Junhong standing before him holding a slice of cake in his palms. Grinning gleefully at Yongguk, Junhong cheered,"Happy birthday Hyung you are officially an old weak grandpa now." The lights from the candles illuminated Junhong's face, making his face look even paler and smoother than normal and emphasizing his sharper facial features. If only he had a halo Yongguk thought, then he could be an angel. It was a weird though to have but Yongguk couldn't help it. He looked at the cake, then he looked at Junhong. He was touched of course, so much that he was left slightly speechless and it was Junhong that spoke up once more,"Quick Hyung quick, the candle is going to melt!" Hearing the slightly child like excitement in Junhong's voice, Yongguk couldn't help but grin. He had missed this kind of birthday celebrations. Leaning forward, he blew at the candles on the cake. 

The flames went out and the two of them were thrown into complete darkness. Passing the cake to Yongguk carefully, Junhong ran to turn the lights on, hooting and cheering on the way. Once the lights came on, Yongguk saw the cake and couldn't help but chuckle. His name and Junhong's had filled up the entire surface of the cake in squiggly handwrittened icing letters and there was a mass of lines to the side which somewhat resembled a smiley face. Junhong stuck out his tongue and said sheepishly,"Sorry my mom baked the cake and I wanted to add a little something to it but it kind of ruined the entire cake so I was only left with this one slice that still looks really bad." Hearing Junhong's little confession, Yongguk broke out into laughter, how cute he thought. Junhong retorted,"But hey I put in lots of effort alright and be thankful you can actually read what I wrote!" Yongguk quickly said,"Hey hey I never said anything about not liking this okay! Thank you so much though Junhong ah I didn't expect this at all. I mean how do you even know that it's my birthday?" 

Junhong shuffled his feet and said rather bashfully,"Well you told me once before, maybe you forgot but I remembered ever since and I always was planning to do something for you, even though this isn't anything grand. You might not know but you have really helped me a lot ever since we first met that day in the studio. You taught me so much and made things so much easier for me. I'm really grateful Hyung, I'm so glad I have a Hyung like you." 

Yongguk blinked. He had never once thought much about how he might have affected Junhong in anyway either positive or not and now knowing that he had indeed helped Junhong in one way or another, his heart felt warm and happy. He was glad, more than glad actually, but he couldn't quite pinpoint the feeling, so instead he pulled Junhong into a light hug and patted his head affectionately. "Thank you too Junhong ah, you taught me a lot too you know. You make things so much easier too whenever you come around with that cheeky smile you have so stay happy okay?" Junhong nodded and looked up at Yongguk with that cheeky look. What came next was something Yongguk would never have expected.

The piece of cake in Yongguk's hand had somehow managed to end up in his hair and on his forehead. Junhong on the other hand was rolling around on the floor, laughing till tears formed in the crinkles of his eyes. Yongguk stood still for a moment before realizing what had happened, then he started laughing at how ridiculous it seemed. Picking up abit of cake, he advanced towards Junhong who belatedly realised his impending doom. Squealing, he scrambled to his feet and started the game of chase that would leave the two of them out of breath sooner or later.

The day ended with laughter, creamed faces, crumbs in hair, cake smeared wooden floors and wonderful memories.
