Chapter 2
Goodnight My LoveHe’s here. I know it. I can feel his presence. Embrace me Taengoo. Make me feel safe like you always do and comfort me with your warmth, please, for the last time. I took another shot and laid my head on the counter. Tears were running down my cheeks, ruining the make-up that I had on.
As she closed her eyes, their past memories came running to her…
*Flashback*
After the game, we went to grab a bite. I can’t help but notice him walking alone at the back. I decided to slow down my pace and waited for him to catch up. We went to the diner for dinner.
“He’s such a dork. How could he have poured mustard instead of chili on his fries?”
“Ooh! He kept stealing glances at me. He’s really good-looking, charming but a little short on height. But, that just makes him cute.” She thought.
I looked up and caught him staring at me. He tilted his head and gave me a non-verbal signal asking me to follow him. I just watched him and a few minutes later, he got up and left the table. I looked at the gang and they were engrossed in their discussion so I decided to follow him. I got up and walked out the diner and saw him standing in front of his car with his hands in his back pocket. He really looked charismatic that way. I walked up to him..
“Hey..”
“Hey, thank you for coming out”
“No problem. Not like I had anything or anyone to talk to since they were all busy with their dates. Besides, you kept stealing glances at me and gave me signals, right?”
“Haha. You’re a fast learner. I bet many guys have tried to get your attention through the same way, right?
“You’re right, but no one was as clumsy and careless as you. They would try to look macho, but not for you..”
“That was an accident. But hey, that made you laugh and smile didn’t it?” he replied while rubbing his neck.
“Sure..”
“Wanna go somewhere else?”
“Where?”
“Anywhere you want?”
“You did say that you won’t mind showing me around right? Why not start now?”
“Sure thing. Any place you have in mind?”
“Nope. Surprise me?”
“Very well. Hop on then.”

“Taeng sure made a fool out of himself! How could he be so careless?!” said Soo.
“I know right! It’s so unlike hyung. He must’ve been awestruck by Jessica noona.
“I’m sure he did. Look, they even left without telling off. I bet it’ll work out this time round!” squealed Tiffany.
“You bet! High-five guys!” shouted Yul.
“Maybe I should text Jessie and .” Tiffany thought to herself. She took out her phone and started typing her message.
‘Hey, where’d you go? You left without saying anything. Are you with Taeng?’
*Beep*
‘Well, you guys were so engrossed and I was quite bored so I left and saw him outside and we talked.’
*Beep*
‘Yeah right. Where are you now? Anyway, I saw how you blushed and kept stealing glances at him! But whatever, I’ll see you back at home. Don’t be late and you better tell me all the details later on. Bye!’
*Beep*
‘Fine mom..’

“Who are you texting?” he asked not taking his eyes off the road.
“Tiffany.” She replied.
“What’d she want?”
“She asked if I’m with you, where am I etc. She’s just being herself, a mom.”
“Hahaha. I agree. She does seem like a mom sometimes. Not just to Yul, but all of us. When she nags, oh my god, it’s worse than my mom’s.
“Hahah. I know what you mean. Anyway, we’ve been driving for a while. Where are you taking me? You’re not kidnapping me, are you?” she eyed him.
“No princess, I won’t kidnap you. Besides, if I did, I won’t be able to escape since Tiffany knows about your whereabouts. Just be patient. We’ll reach shortly.”
“Fine..”
They kept talking and what felt like forever finally came to an end when the car came to a stop. She looked around and realized that they’re at the beach.
“Beach? You brought ,me here?”
“Problem?”
“No..Just curious”
He left her behind and just walked towards the shore.
“Hey, wait for me!” she shouted. She ran after him and jumped on his back. She was lucky he had a good reflex and caught her.
“Do you do this to all the guys you just met?” he asked looking over his shoulder.
“No… You’re the first.” She replied shyly.
“You’re cute.”
She fell silent at his comment. She was blushing like mad. ‘Thank god he can’t see my face. I bet I’m as red as a tomato right now. Damn, why did I even jumped on to him?’ she mentally face-palmed herself.
“You’re blushing aren’t you?”
“Wha..at? N..no!”
“Why are you stuttering than?”
“Argh, shut up.” And she jumped off of him.
“Let’s take a sit over there”, he pointed at the bridge.
“Okay.”
They walked side by side in silence. The silence wasn’t uncomfortable; in fact it felt nice for both of them.
“Tell me more about yourself, Jessica Jung.”, he asked her while looking ahead.
“What do you want to know, Kim Taeyeon?” she asked.
“Everything and anything that you’re willing to share”, he said and smiled at her.
They sat there talking and sharing stories and laughed at each other. Both of them were having a great time and deep inside, both hearts was beating the same way. Every contact they had, made their heart beat even faster. It was getting late and they decided to go home. He stood up and stretched his body and stretched out his hand for her.
She looked up and saw a hand waiting for her. Without hesitant, she took it and held it tight. They made their way to the car and Taeyeon opened the door for her. He looked down and saw their hands still entwined. He blushed at the sight.
“You wanna let go now?”
“Huh?” she looked down and saw their hand and quickly pulled back her hand.
“Sorry.”
“It’s okay.” He closed the door and made his way to the driver seat.
“I’m guessing you’re staying at Tiffany’s?”
Their journey back was silence. Both were thinking about the moment they had at the beach.
‘She’s interesting and I like her a lot!’
‘He’s like so sweet, loving and handsome. He’s a real catch. I bet he’s into me. Hehe’
The car came to a stop and broke her trance. She looked around and realized that they’ve reached her house. He stepped out and walked over to the passenger side and opened the door for her.
“Thank you”
He just smiled and walked her to the front door. They stood outside the door and both were silent.
‘Should I hug her? Give her a peck on the cheeks or what?! If I don’t she might think I’m not interested in her? Argh. What should I do???!’ he thought.
‘What should I do? Just walk in? Give him a hug? Give him a peck? If I kiss him, he may think I’m too straightforward and desperate for him..’ she thought.
“So, here we are. Anyway, I had a great time and it was nice spending time with you. If you need any help or whatsoever, feel free to approach me..” he said shyly.
“Uh, yeah. Me too. Thank you for bringing me to the beach. It was really nice. So, I’ll see you on Monday?”
“Yeah. Goodnight Sica.”
“Sica?”
“Uh, hope you don’t mind me calling you that?”
“It’s fine. Thanks. Goodnight Taeng.”
She took out her keys and turned away to unlock the door. As she was about to enter, she felt a pair of lips on her cheek. She blushed at the contact and turned around to see Taeyeon inches away from her.
“Erm, sorry. Goodnight Sica.”
Before she could reply, he already walked off towards his car. He looked at her one last time and drove off. She stood there until he was out of sight. She smiled to herself and went it. She closed the door and leaned against it. She recalled the night with Taeyeon and couldn’t help but blush. She placed her hands on her chest and her heart was pounding furiously.
“I saw everything..” a voice startled her.
She turned around and was greeted by her cousin’s smirk. ‘I bet I’m gonna go through a hell interrogation tonight.’ She mentally thought to herself. She ignored her cousin and went up to her room. She made her way up and went to the toilet to change. As she stepped out, she had already expected a certain someone to be waiting for her on her bed, all ready to interrogate her.
“What are you doing in my room?”
“Well, you’re gonna tell me what you did with Taeyeon oppa and what you think of him.”
“Why should I..?”
“Because I’m your cousin! Besides, the rest of the gang saw the two of you walk off and we all wanna know what you think of him. He’s been alone for so long and we all feel bad that he gets left out whenever we go on a date!”
“Seriously? He hasn’t had a girlfriend before?”
“Not never, just that after the last one, which was 3 years ago, he hasn’t been with any girl”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. He didn’t even tell the boys the reason. Whenever they ask, he would just say he’s waiting for the right one.”
“Oh…”
“So tell me, what’d you guys do? Talk about? Tell me everything Jessica Jung Sooyeon!”
Unable to argue with her cousin, she gave in and told her everything.
*End of Flashback*
A familiar pair of arm carried me. I knew who it was by the scent and the warmth emitted. I miss this. I miss him carrying me like this. I miss everything about him. I pretended to sleep and just enjoyed his warmth. I heard him taking the car keys from my purse and gently placed me in the passenger seat. He started the engine and drove off. He placed his jacket over and my cheeks once in a while. I can also feel his eyes on me. I heard him humming a familiar tune.
He carried me back to the apartment and had trouble punching the code due to the overwhelming weight of mine. He gently laid me on the bed that holds precious and beautiful memories of us. He left my side and the next thing I felt my shoes being removed. ‘He’s leaving me like this?’ I thought. The next thing I felt was his body hovering above me. I felt his eyes fixed on me. I so badly wanted to open my eyes to look into the mesmerizing eyes of his. The pair of eyes that never fail to confirm his emotion. Then I felt his hands grazing against my skin and the next thing I knew was my dress had been removed. ‘What is he doing? He wouldn’t do it, would he?’ I kept pondering on his actions when I suddenly felt wet towel grazing against my skin. I was touched by his action, like always. I knew he wouldn’t take advantage of me. I was embarrassed even though he has seen it thousands of time. After all, our relationship isn’t clear as it used to be. We’ve hit rock bottom. He then changed me into a new set of clothes and tucked me in before walking off. I heard the bathroom door close and I sat up. I heard the shower . I turned to my right and took the frame that was placed by the bed. I took the frame and my eyes trace over his face. I held it close to my chest and closed my eyes.
“WHY?!”
The sudden shouting shocked her and the thumping sound caught her ears. She got out of bed and walked towards the door. She leaned against it to hear what was happening and she heard it all. She heard his outbreak and plea. It hurt her to see him like that. The man that had always been strong for her finally crumbled down. She could imagine him punching his hand against the wall with tears and the thought of it hurt her. She leaned against the door and sank to the floor, bursting into tears. She cried along with him in silence.
