Without Knowing It All

Song suggestion: The Middle- Jimmy Eat World

Hyuna and Hyunseung were practicing their dance routine like crazy, making sure their couple performance was flawless. Both were up to the task of dancing to something a little more ual to arouse the crowd a bit and crank up the heat during the festival. After practice, Hyunseung gulped as his eyes hungrily wandered over to Hyuna, who was pouring water down her head and body to cool off. The water caused her already tight clothes to stick to her skin, outlining her perfect curvy body. Her proportions shined through her skin tight black leggings and crop top. She pulled her hair up with her hands, exposing her alluring neckline which shimmered with dewy droplets of water. Hyuna noticed the look on Hyunseung's face and teased, "Like what you see?"

Impulsively, he pushed Hyuna against the wall with a manly force.

"Yah, what-?" Before Hyuna could even question his motives, he hungrily attacked her lips. She struggled against his grasp and leaned her head as far away as she could.

"Hyunseung, stop."

"Aww, come on babe." He bit his lip and continued to fight for dominance. "It'll be good practice so we look more provocative together on stage."

Hyuna's spine shivered and she glared at her boyfriend. "You little bastard, I told you to stop. Our performance is seductive enough with all of the touching." She closed her eyes at the incoming kiss and turned her head away, but Hyunseung's weight was lifted from her body and she heard the sound of a slap.

Slowly, she peeked her eyes open, only to find Hyunseung clutching his cheek with his eyes wide open from the impact.

"She said to stop, you douche."

Hyuna could only stare at the figure as she was pulled away from Hyunseung and out of the room. She finally managed to snap out of her confusion and roughly pulled the girl's grip off her hand.

"I didn't ask for your ing help, I would have been fine on my own." She was annoyed that her vulnerable and weak side had been exposed to that one person she hated the most. "And who said you could touch me?"

The girl who helped her rolled her eyes and walked away.

"YAH! I'm talking to you!"

The girl abruptly turned around and shot a glare, throwing a paper ball at Hyuna's face.

Hyuna's insides burned when the paper hit her forehead. She cracked her knuckles and stretched her neck, muttering, "Let's see what this little wrote. I'm going to kill her the next time I see her." She stopped her cursing and her face grew expressionless as she read the note.

"You know, you could just say 'Thank you' when someone helps you. It's not that hard, is it? And I know you're a better person than to stick with someone like him."

Hyuna scrunched her face, her hands turning into tightly balled fists. She indignantly tore the note apart piece by piece and tossed it into the trash can.

Who said I needed your help anyways.

Within the two weeks that EXO-M were at Seoul High School, they would help the scholarship students prepare and plan out everything for the festival, from the performance outfits down to the songs played during intermissions. They had to work fast and quick if they wanted to complete everything in time.

It was definitely hard to assemble the whole thing together. The other students continued to mock the scholarship students and even resorted to unnecessary violence after finding out about their relationship with EXO. On top of that, they were just being discriminatory and jealous. But the scholarship students wouldn't back down. They were filled with smiles when they practiced for their stages, sharing laughter, tears... and a whole lot of band-aids.

"I can't believe it's already been two weeks and you guys have to leave. The handsome boys..." Eunji pouted. Chorong nodded her head as well.

The guys fist bumped each other as a final goodbye. "Make sure we keep in touch okay? And don't forget to send us those videos of your performances."

As EXO-M prepared for their flight and said their farewells, Chorong made sure to take plenty of pictures. She smiled looking into the camera, capturing the last bits of memories the scholarships students would make with EXO. All of the sudden, Suho's head came into the shot and she rolled her eyes. She tapped his shoulder and pointed him away to move from the camera.

"Why don't you take a picture of me?" He jokingly asked and began to pose.

"Because I'm going to see you for many more months to come. These guys only come once a year. Besides, everyone's in high spirits. Why wouldn't I want to take a picture of 37 smiles?"

Suho shook his head. "37? Are you sure you can count miss? The last time I checked you took a picture of everyone smiling except me and you. That only equals to 35." He took initiative and grabbed the camera out of her hands.

Chorong blinked at Suho in surprise before he tilted her head towards the camera instead.

"Ready? Smile!"

The two looked into the camera and both broke into huge grins. Afterwards, they grew awkward and Chorong shyly bowed. She sped walk away to the front of the crowd.

"Guys?" Chorong scribbled onto her notebook, but no one even noticed she was trying to communicate with them. She couldn't help but chuckle at how talkative everyone was being and clapped her hands in the same manner an elementary school teacher would to get the class's attention.

Everybody immediately stopped their chit chat and looked at Chorong in surprise. She raised her eyebrows and pointed at her camera to signal for a group picture.

"Okay, make sure you guys look at the camera! I'm taking it now!" Kris pressed the timer button on the camera.

"Hurry up and get over here Kris." Luhan nagged.

"Kimchi~" Everyone smiled into the camera to take a commemorative group photo.

Jongdae grabbed the camera from the tripod and handed it to Chorong. "Be sure to send all of us the photos."

Minseok nodded his head in agreement. "It was fun hanging out with you guys."

"Man, I hate leaving so soon. Two weeks normally seems like forever here but this trip went by way too fast." Yixing joked.

"Well, it's not a goodbye for forever though. We'll visit again next year." Tao grinned in excitement.

"Bye!" EXO-K and the scholarship students shouted at the M members as they started to go through security check.

"Make sure to reply to our messages!"

"Good luck on the performances. Hwaiting!"

"We'll learn more Chinese so we can communicate better!"

Once they finally left, everyone stopped waving and played around before taking the bus home. Eunji smiled at Chorong and commented, "This was certainly a successful meeting with EXO-M. We got something out of it. True joy."

It grew to be a normal habit for Suho and Baekhyun to walk Chorong and Eunji home. Eunji and Baekhyun would normally bicker about the tiniest things while walking and have a bunch to say to each other. On the other hand, Chorong and Suho were usually dead silent and only awkwardness enveloped the air unless Suho tried to start a conversation.

"Eunji-ah, don't tell me you're dating. Is that where you've been going all this time?" Dong Il eyed his daughter in suspicion and glared at Baekhyun, who stood completely still in front of the elder.

His eyes then darted towards Chorong, who also had a boy next to her. He sighed heavily. "Not you too Chorong. Aish. Double date? Is that what you kids call it these days? HONEY, come out here."

...

"YEOBO!!"

"What is it now! I'm trying to make some dumplings to freeze right now and you-" Il Hwa stopped her mumbling once she saw the guys. "Ommo, ommo, where are my manners. What two fine looking young men." Giggling like a schoolgirl, she went up to Baekhyun and took his hand into hers, saying, "Please take care of my daughter. She is not worthy-"

"Aish OMMA! How can you say that about your only daughter?" Eunji glared at her mom before yelling at both her parents. "AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND."

Dong Il mysteriously smiled and questioned, "Did I ever say he was your boyfriend?"

Eunji's eyes widened and she quickly put a hand over .

Baekhyun quickly seized the oppurtunity to introduce himself while Eunji was in shock, even speaking in dialect to have a better impression as both parents spoke in a Busan dialect. "Hello father, hello mother. My name is Byun Baekhyun. I'm in the same grade as Eunji." He bowed 90 degrees and shook their hands energetically.

Dong Il and his wife could only smile at each other before Dong Il put on his gruff face again. He grunted and cleared his throat. "And who are you?"

It took a moment for Suho to comprehend what was going on before he finally snapped back into reality. "Ah, yes, my name is Kim Joon Myun, but my nickname is Suho as in Guardian."

Il Hwa shook his hand first and muttered to show her excitement. Dong Il, however, burst into a fit of laughter.

"What? Suho? I'm sorry kid but that's just hilarious. I can't-" He tried to catch his breath but he couldn't help but laugh at the nickname.

"Yeobo! Calm down, you're embarrassing them. They're only children."

He stiffened at his wife's command and cleared his throat. "Yes maam. I'm sorry about that kid."

Suho's eyes widened. "Oh no, it's okay sir. People always laugh at first so I'm okay with it."

Eunji quickly interjected the conversation and attempted to make the two flustered boys leave as quickly as possible. "Well, I think you guys should go home. Didn't you say your moms were waiting for you guys? Go home and-"

"Stay here for dinner." Dong Il chuckled before glaring at the two guys again.

Il Hwa did not understand her husband's intentions but was excited at the possibilty of having two young men at the table. "Yes, join us."

The four students attempted to communicate to each other with their frantic eyes, but it ended in utter failure. Eunji took in a deep breath before face palming herself. "I guess you guys can stay if you want."

"Really?! I mean, my family would be totally fine with it since it's a weekend." Baekhyun smiled like a goofball.

Confused, Suho nodded his head and stuttered. "Umm, yeah, I think I can stay too."

Dong Il creepily smiled and spoke in a grave voice. "Great, because I'd love to talk to you guys separately." He evilly chuckled before going into the house and entering his room.

Lee Bo Young grinned at the setting around her. The students took great pride into decorating the school with only the best, and everyone was so into the preparations for the festival.

"Excited?" Ji Sung walked next to her and they continued to stroll down the empty hallway. "Just an hour till the fun starts."

"Of course, I'm especially excited when I'll see my students perform." She laughed before hearing a loud crash. Her eyebrows raised at the sound and she stared at Ji Sung in question. He shrugged and went towards the direction of the noise.

"YAH, what are you girls doing?" He pulled Chorong up from the floor and she smirked, wiping the blood off her lip.

Wait what? Chorong? My Chorong? Mrs. Lee's heels clacked as she ran towards the classroom.

The group of 6 girls attempted to leave with Hyuna in front, but Mrs. Lee blocked the doorway.

"Move." Hyuna growled.

"I can't. I'm reporting this." Mrs. Lee stood firm.

"I TOLD YOU TO MOVE!" She slapped Mrs. Lee's hand away in frustration and ran out of the room, quickly followed by the 5 henchwomen.

Bo Young's head was spinning. She didn't get it. Her understanding of the school was too small. The school was too perfect, too perfect to have any problems, right? She continued to stand at the doorway, her body limp and lifeless as she listened to Ji Sung's one-sided conversation with Chorong. The only voice from Chorong was the sound of a flipping page

"Are you okay?"

"..."

"We'll need to get a band-aid on that."

"..."

"What were you doing here alone?"

"..."

"Ahh, I see. You should've known better than to come alone though. I like the costumes though... very rebellious looking."

Bo Young snapped and she went next to Ji Sung and Chorong. "Wait, what did you say? You should have known better? What the hell am I missing here? This has been going on yet you've done nothing to stop it? And Chorong, why didn't you tell me you were having problems?" Mrs. Lee continued to bombard the two with endless questions, her mind was completely frazzled. This isn't possible... A school like this? Bullying?! No, maybe you're just overthinking it all.

As if Chorong read her face like a book, she scribbled onto her notepad, "Overthinking is what you'd like to think of it, but I say that's just avoiding the problem." She stood up and touched the band-aid on her lip. "It'd make a nice accessory for my performance, the band-aid. Please look forward to it teachers. And thank you." She politely bowed at the two and left, leaving Bo Young clueless and Ji Sung smiling proudly at what was to come.

"What are you smiling about? This can't go on, we have to report this to the principal and-"

"No."

"No? NO?!" She stared at Ji Sung in disbelief. "What, so you're going to let this go on? Unnacceptable! It's our job as teachers to protect our students and watch over them. Turning your back on her doesn't solve anything."

"Who said I turned my back on her- no, them?"

"What do you mean?"

"I've hinted it so many times but I guess you'll never get it unless I tell you huh. I've tried... the students have tried. But the bullying won't stop, and neither will authority stop it either. It's been going on for years. Discrimination, verbal abuse, physical abuse, I've seen all of it. The scholarship kids have stepped down, accepting it as part of their fate. They aren't made of money, so they need this education for their family, to be able to get a well-paying job and provide. Their burdens are great, they'd rather lose their pride than have their hopes and dreams collapse. But did you see that fire, that passion in Chorong's eyes earlier? The way she effortlessly got up even after being punched? It's not just because she got used to the pain, but she's standing up to fight for what's right.

You have no idea what these kids have been through. The best way to describe it to me plainly is just hell. They've been through hell and they're only teenagers. It's a psychologically and physically exhausting battle, having the same routine every day. Did you really expect such a perfect job when you came here? Do you know how many times I felt like my heart has been ripped apart watching the kids being bullied and then even being denied of their rights for justice? I'm here to help them and do whatever I can, but right now, their voices are most important. If they don't speak up and help themselves, nothing will ever change."

He turned to look at his fellow colleague, only to find her legs had given in and she was sitting on the floor.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so harsh."

The Lee Bo Young was sobbing, hard. She felt worthless, like a thief. She had practically robbed the students of their innocence without even knowing it. Exactly as Ji Sung described, her heart was being torn apart.

In between the loud sobs, she stuttered, "I-I-I, what kind of teacher am I to not even know what's going on with my students? Not just my students, but everyone in this school. I feel so bad, it's ineffable. My chest is in pain, like it's on fire. And here I thought all of this time that I was doing a great job teaching them the required curriculum. But I forgot the most important thing, to build personal relationships with them to touch their hearts, to be their friend in times of need. But... I failed. I'm so pathetic, so selfish. I'm crying yet I'm not even going through what they're going. I should have known something was off right from the start with my first day, yet I chose to remain ignorant. I was a coward, too scared to look into and i just kept ignoring my gut instinct."

Mrs. Lee felt a hand on her cheek, wiping her tears away. The hand was too small to be Ji Sung's, yet it was rough and cold. She looked up and stared at Chorong, who was holding up her notepad in another hand. She came back after hearing the stifled cries of her homeroom teacher.

"Don't cry, sangsaengnim. Nothing's your fault. You're a great teacher, and I appreciate the concern. My friends and I are going to fight for us, for our well-beings and sanity. Mr. Kwak has been of great help and inspiration for us, as well as EXO. We're going to pull through, so don't worry. We'll make sure today is a success. Trust me- no. Trust us."

A/N: #prayforsouthkorea. I feel horrible just listening to the news, I can't imagine what emotional torture the families are going through, especially since most victims were only students that had so much more ahead of them. I hope that captain of the boat gets sentenced to life in prison. Then again, it'd be a waste of taxpayer money to keep his alive. (Just read the articles and see how angry you become) Just kidding, but I hope he feels guilty and stops drying his wet, worthless paper money. Compared to those paper bills, lives are priceless. Bills can be replaced... lives can't.

RESCUERS, HWAITING!!
