Father
DecisionsThe ride back home was filled with Hana’s stories of her school life, explaining it cheerfully and detail by detail. All that Sehun could reply was “Really?” and Hana would nod instantly and continue on talking about her adventures as she sat beside Suzy at the back of their car.
However, Sehun noticed that Suzy frequently looked outside of the car and merely stared at nothingness, as if all her energy was absorbed by the child beside her.
Jongin’s? Kris’ question kept playing inside Suzy’s head.
What am I supposed to answer when someone asks me the same question again?
Will I ever get used to this lying scheme we plotted? Suzy kept thinking while Sehun kept glancing at her.
When the traffic light posed red, Sehun took a deep breath and asked,
“Yeobo, are you okay?”
“Huh?” Suzy replied as she was snapped out of her trance.
“Do you still feel sick? Perhaps you want us to stop by a hospital?” Sehun asked worriedly as he turned to look at Suzy.
“N-No need. I’m fine,” Suzy said with a small smile that tried to reassure her husband.
“Of course omma’s not sick anymore! Teacher K and I did a good job of taking care of her while you were gone, appa!” Hana said with a big smile on her face, in an attempt to comfort Sehun but it did the other way around.
Sehun and Suzy exchanged glances at the mention of Jongin’s name. They stared at each other for a while with both an unreadable expression on their faces. It was not until Sehun heard a beep behind him that he broke the stare and drove away.
He managed to smile as he replied to Hana, “Is that so? I have to personally thank him then.”
Hana chuckled innocently as she was unable to understand the atmosphere between the two and she even said, "You will have plenty of chances appa. I think there will be a parent-teacher conference soon.”
After sorting out his baggage and giving some gifts to Hana, Suzy and their maid, Sehun took a shower to refresh him from the tiring travel he had. Somehow, he always found himself in the bathroom whenever a tough situation involving Jongin would come. Maybe he was wishing that the water would flow down all his worries away or the coldness would take the burning heat off from his aching heart.
“Teacher K frequently helped us when appa’s gone abroad…”
“Teacher K did a good job of taking of her while you were gone, appa!”
Sehun turned the shower off and shut his eyes closed.
Will these insecurities ever end? He asked himself.
Convinced that a shower would take him to nowhere, he dried himself up and dressed in comfortable clothes. He was drying his hair with a towel when he decided to step out of the bathroom. However, when he opened the door, he found Suzy standing still in front of it and simply staring at the ground.
Sehun dropped his towel over his shoulder and smiled at Suzy as he asked,
“Were you waiting for too long? Do you need to use the bathroom?”
But Suzy just shook her head “no.”
“Wae?” Sehun asked again but Suzy said nothing. When he reached to touch her forehead to check if she was sick, Suzy finally raised her gaze and met his eyes and even before Sehun could read the emotion in her eyes, she had trapped him an embrace.
Suzy circled her arms around Sehun’s body, pulling him closer to her as she buried her face in his chest. Sehun sighed in happiness and reciprocated her actions, and they found themselves basking in silence, standing still in the middle of their room, sharing each other’s warmth in a tight embrace.
“I miss you,” Suzy whispered so tenderly.
Sehun broke the hug and cupped her face, brushing his thumb over her cheeks, and the two stared right into each other’s eyes. He smiled as he remembered that his motivation to survive a cruel life had always been in front of him. Suzy was a thousand times a better remedy than a night shower.
Sehun looked at her forehead before planting a soft kiss on it and then the next spot he kissed was her nose. They stared at each other’s eyes again before they closed them in sync as Sehun leaned to finally capture her lips. He nibbled on every little part of her lips, not leaving a spot untouched. He tugged her chin down using his fingers and Suzy gladly complied by opening a little. The sweet kiss slowly turned into a more aggressive one and Suzy’s hands crawled from his torso to the back of his neck as she pulled him closer.
Sehun broke the kiss and both could feel each other’s warm air as they breathe into each other’s faces. Suzy’s face was still cupped in Sehun’s hands as the male slowly whispered back, “I miss you too.”
They both opened their eyes and smiled at each other warmly. Suzy, then, started showering Sehun’s face with loud kisses.
“You really are mother and daughter,” Sehun said, chuckling but then his smile turned into a mischievous smirk as he added, “But I want to continue the kissing somewhere else.”
Suzy’s forehead creased as she gave Sehun a questioning look but then Sehun’s lips started moving, pointing the bed near them.
“Hey!” Suzy blurted out and widened her eyes as she faked a threatening glare but Sehun just winked at her as he replied,
“You know what they say: Actions speak louder than words.”
“Yah!” Suzy shouted again as Sehun chuckled more and carried her bridal style, eventually throwing her into their king sized bed and hovering on top of her. Suzy found himself trapped in between Sehun’s arms, with some of the water from his wet hair dripping onto the bedsheet.
Sehun stared at her intently as he whispered huskily, “I’ll make you feel how much I miss you.”
The night had been long and tiring to Suzy and Sehun but both still could not fall asleep. It seemed like they were trying to make up from the week that they were away from each other. Aware that Hana might step in their room at any moment, they clothed themselves up as they cuddled while lying on the bed.
They started sharing stories from the week that had passed, Sehun with all the views he had seen and people he met and Suzy with all the events in her college.
“So what did the doctor say about you passing out?” Sehun asked.
“It was a mere fatigue. The exams were burdensome,” Suzy replied.
“It wouldn’t be a burden if you’re not the one who accompanies Hana to and from her school. I should call the agency and get extra helpers. Don’t worry; our
