This time
Decisions"I," Suzy started. "I mean we.. we agreed to be just friends. It would be awesome, right? The three of us being friends again."
Sehun felt how Suzy tried to sound cheerful over the phone. However, he can't help but ask, "How about Hana?"
Only silence can be heard between the two lines and for a monent, Sehun thought that the line was cut, so he asked again, "Su?"
"Don't tell him," Suzy answered immediately this time.
"Suzy-yah. Isn't that unfair?" Sehun blurted out, shocked by the revelation of Suzy's decision.
"Please, Sehun. I'm begging you," Suzy's voice croaked. "Things are going smooth now. Telling him the truth would only complicate our lives once more."
Sehun's eyebrows creased more as he momentarily shut his eyes. Answering yes would mean depriving Jongin and Hana the truth from the rest of their lives, and maybe even hiding it from the rest of the world. Answering yes would mean depriving Jongin and Hana the father-daughter bonding that they could have had. Answering yes would also mean that the two of them would continue the lie that they started six years ago.
"What if he finds out?" he asked in a whisper.
"He won't," Suzy answered. "As long as no one tells him."
But answering yes would also mean that they could continue living their peaceful lives. Answering yes would mean keeping the family together. Answering yes would mean reassuring that Suzy and Hana would stay by his side.
"Okay," Sehun finally said.
"Thank you, Sehun." Suzy said numerous times. "Thank you for always understanding."
"Hmmm," Sehun hummed and attempted to redirect the conversation. "Sleep now. You might be tired."
Suzy yawned on the other line before saying, "But I want to talk to you more."
"We'll do more than the talking when we see each other," Sehun said teasingly with a playful chuckle. "I would not even let you sleep."
"," Suzy mumbled and the two of them laughed.
However, Sehun heard Suzy's yawn again and he smiled. "Is school making you stressful?"
"School's always been a source of stress for students," Suzy ranted. "Argh. My exams are soon."
Sehun chuckled on the other line before saying, "But school houses a lot of good memories too."
He heard Suzy's chuckle as a reply which was quickly followed by a deep sigh.
"And painful ones too," she added.
Another silence occupied the both of them but Sehun got hold of the situation when he heard another yawn.
"I'm not taking 'no' as an answer now. Go to sleep," Sehun said and with a 'good night' he ended the call, not allowing Suzy to answer so that the conversation would finally end. Sehun plopped himself back into his bed and stared blankly onto the ceiling. The conversation has now been infiltrating his entire system, questioning if he has made the right choice on agreeing to Suzy's plan.
I have always sacrificed for others' happiness. Allow me to be selfish for even at least once in my life.
And I want it to be this time, Sehun thought.
"Omma, are you bringing all those books all day long?" Hana asked as her. They were in a cab on her way to school.
"Yes," Suzy said with a sigh. "I need to review for my exams."
"We have exams too but I do not need to bring any books," Hana replied.
"That's because you're still in preschool. As you get another grade higher, the lessons are going to get more difficult and you would also need to study harder."
"Ehh?!" Hana gasped. "It sounds scary."
Suzy smiled at the little girl. "Don't worry. The lessons you learn will prepare you in order to face greater obstacles."
Hana tilted her head with confusion written all over her face.
Suzy chuckled once more as she said, "Someday, you'll understand, Hana."
"Will there come a time that I'll be able to understand everything, omma?"
"Hmmm," Suzy hummed as she looked outside. "Will you be able to contain the whole sea in a bottle of glass?"
"Of course not!" Hana replied and the cab halted in front of her school's gate. Both thanked the driver after paying him and continued on the conversation they were having as they walk towards her school.
"The sea can't fit in the glass, right?" Suzy asked and Hana nodded. "Our mind is the glass and the knowledge out there is like the water in the sea. We will never be able to attain the knowledge we need for us to comprehend everything in the world."
"Why is it like that, omma?"
"Because only the Creator would fully understand the creations and we're not the Creator, Hana. That's why people are called creatures, because we too, are only created."
"I give up," Hana blurted out. "I think I need
