Hiding
Decisions"Hey."
"Hey," he rasped and he felt how she comfortably squuezed his hand in hers.
"How do you feel now?" she asked in a whisper.
"I will always feel the best when you're with me," he said with small smile on his lips to which she greatly replied with a sweet smile of her own. They stared at each other lovingly, until he noticed that her eyes were in the brim of crying. He let go of her hand and reached for her face, gently caressing it and his thumb brushed the tears that were threatening to fall.
"What did the doctor say?" he asked.
"It was a heart failure," she answered, chewing her bottom lip.
"Stop worrying. I'm still alive, ain't I?" he chuckled, trying to brighten up her mood.
"But you almost died Jongin," Suzy croaked and the tears that she was trying hard to hide broke out of her control.
"Shhh," he tried to calm her and he sat up on his hospital bed. He cupped her face with both of his hands and looked at her crying face. He stared right into her eyes as he whispered so intently,
"My heart might stop working but it would never stop loving you."
Jongin took a few careful steps towards her bed, swallowing the lump on his throat that was treatening to accumulate more and generate some tears. He sat on the side of her bed and watched as she peacefully sleep. He gently tucked strands of hair behind her ears and once more, he stared at her face which seemed to have escaped the wrath of aging. He was tempted to kiss her at that instant but the presence of the kid on the other side of the bed made him halt.
Hana was staring at him when she asked, "You love her, don't you?"
Jongin flinched at the question and he became uneasy but realizing the innocence in the girl's question, he answered, "Yes."
Hana giggled and smiled, "You have an amazing friendship."
Jongin just smiled at the girl, refusing to explain that what he felt towards her mom was beyond what should be felt towards a friend. He then heard the girl yawn as she stretched her tiny arms.
"Do you want me to send you home so that you could sleep?"
"Aniyo," Hana replied. "I don't really like to stay with the maid at home and no one would stay with mom here."
"Hmmm," Jongin nodded and saw Hana yawn again. "Can you sleep on the couch then?"
"Of course," Hana said and slowly walked towards the coach, plopping herself. Jongin chuckled and followed her, getting a cushion and tucking it behind her head. He slipped off his jacket and used it to cover the girl. Hana peeked in with one of her eyes and giggled as Jongin brushed her hair off her face. She yawned once more and smiled as she said,
"Thank you, Teacher K."
As the girl's mouth slightly opened, Jongin chuckled because he knew that she was already in a deep slumber. He kissed her on the forehead as he whispered,
"Good night Hana."
Jongin then turned, walked back towards Suzy's bed and the bed creaked as he sat on its side. He again, stared at her face and remembered how both of them often went to the hospital because of his sickness. He never imagined that they would reverse roles: she on the bed while him, taking care of her. He took her hand that was lying on her torso. He gently caressed her hand and played with her fingers.
I hate it when you send me to the hospital because of my weak heart and I also don't want to see you sick and lying on the bed like this.
The only time that I want us to be both in the hospital... is when you deliver my child.
Jongin then felt her hand gently squeezing his. His eyes widen and he saw how her lips slightly moved. He squeezed her hand more firmly and listened to her soft whispers. Furrowing his eyebrows because of the softness of her voice, he bent down so that his ear were close to her lips.
"Sehun-a," he heard her whisper in her sleep.
Jongin smiled bitterly and chuckled until his chuckles became short sobs. He felt himself shedding a tear which rolled down on his cheek. He brushed his own tears away as he let go of her hand.
Suzy fluttered her eyes open and saw the unfamiliar ceiling. She raised left hand and winced at the wire plucked on it. She trailed the path of the wire and saw that it was connected to the dextrose. That was the only time she realized that she was hospitalized. Her eyes then landed on the couch and the two figures which were below it. Jongin was lying with his torso flat on
