The ChoiceNarrator
Hyemi eyed the card that was hanging on her locker. It was like a big neon sign that kept on blinking right in front of her.
The red card might just be made of paper, but it scared her. She saw how students were so afraid of it and what the consequences were once you received one.
She closed her locker and pressed her forehead on the locker door, then she felt it.
The first attack.
Someone had thrown and egg at her, and hit her squarely in the back.
Hyemi winced and spun around, she found the students blatantly staring back at her with smiles on their faces. Then she saw Yejin, frowning while looking at her.
Daehyun looked up as their friend walked in their classroom, it was a room for the four of them only.
“You gave her a red card, she’s a new student, Himchan.” Chunji said. Himchan shrugged and sat down.
Then Kai, who was standing by the window noticed a crowd running across the school’s vast soccer field.
“Is that a bicycle….on fire?” He asked.
Himchan shrugged.
“I didn’t know they would do that.”
Hyemi watched as the students roasted her bike. She felt tears line her eyes, she had worked for her bike. She took on jobs to buy it. She turned away and walked back to the school’s building.
She knew if she burst into tears that meant she lost against the rich kids. But she never expected this would happen, it was something she only read about. She thought that Daehan’s students were well behaved and mature, but she never expected this.
In her mind, she was cursing Kim Himchan and his F4 friends, that she didn’t notice someone poured cooking oil on the floor.
Then she tripped and landed on her back.
Hyemi winced and looked at her stained uniform. She had no idea how she was going to lie to her mother about it.
Hyemi arrived home and was relieved to find the house empty. Her parents were still at work. She darted to her room and immediaer tely changed. Then she changed into jeans and an sweater and gathered her uniform in a paper bag.
She stepped out of their apartment and headed for the dry cleaning place, then she felt someone tap on her shoulder.
“Yejin-ah.” Hyemi smiled, Yejin shook her head and gave her friend a hug.
“I’m sorry, I was scared that if I talked to you earlier~”
Hyemi waved one hand dismissively.
“I understand, those idiots are something.” She shrugged.
“But, where are you going?” Yejin asked her.
“I need to have my uniform drycleaned.” Hyemi smiled sheepishly.
“I’ll drive you there~”
“Yejin, it’s fine~”
“No! It’s not, it’s the least I could do to thank for standing up for me. It’s the first time a girl has done that to F4.”
Hyemi could only nod. She had a feeling that whatever she did earlier will make her regret soon.
